Elizabeth E. "Delicious inventive ice cream paired with a classy mad-hatter tea party ambiance. Inside is clean and bright with a nice amount of intimate indoor seating. Tables are small, so smaller groups would feel more comfortable for indoor enjoyment of your ice cream, coffee or pastry. Outdoors there is a large garden area that has plenty of eclectic seating options, including chair swings! A little play area for younger kids is a nice touch too.The ice cream was decidedly delicious. We opted for a ginger rose water and matcha green tea and both were fantastic. I definitely recommend this unusual little spot filled with whimsy."

Kathryn M. "Hubby and I came here after a nice dinner on a Saturday evening. We were both wanting something sweet so when searching on Yelp we came across Salt and Cocoa. Soooo glad we did! There was only one couple here. We told the young man behind the counter it was our first time so he explained the whole menu to us. I opted for the banana Nutella rolled ice cream with the red bean taiyaki. Hubby ordered the matcha rolled ice cream with custard taiyaki. Omg. These were amazing!! My ice cream was a sweet treat for my mouth. And that taiyaki was delish!! The red bean inside was hot while the fish shaped waffle was crispy and warm. The store was very cute with drawings from school children on the wall and colored stools and tables. Both ice cream roll ups and 2 taiyaki totaled up to almost $21. I'd love to come back again and try another roll up. This dessert was the topping on our date night!"

Rebecca M. "S & T Soda Shoppe is a great place to dine while in Pittsboro. The diner with its 40s decor takes you back in time for its cozy feel. The diner has two floors but we asked to stay on the first level as I wasn't sure if there was all the nostalgic decor upstairs.I love that the building was restored to how it would have looked in the 40s with the mahogany wood; tin ceiling; marble counter; bar stools and tile floor. The details are stunning. The place is busy and has a large food menu as well as ice cream menu. The menu has a lot of sandwiches to select from. I went with the tuna melt on sunflower bread with provolone cheese. The sandwich came with chips but I went with steak fries instead. The sandwich was good but I think I'd go with something else next time after looking at what others were ordering.Service was very friendly and attentive."

Charlotte B. "I can't believe I've never been to Lumpy's! I've had their ice cream at events around town but here they are, only a few miles from other businesses I frequent. I love ice cream and there are definitely many choices at the grocery store, but there is something special about going to an ice cream shop. Does it enhance the flavor? Maybe not, but smell has been known to (science) and Lumpy's smells of waffle cones and vanilla deliciousness.I've gotten away from visiting local and this Lumpy's visit was part of my efforts to improve. On this Sunday around 2pm it was pretty empty which allowed me to feel comfortable asking to sample a couple flavors before committing (which is welcomed anyway). I sampled Anna's Anise, which was so unique and refreshing but I couldn't see eating a cup of it. My husband sampled Montezumas Revenge, a very spicy chocolate. The nice young man serving us did ask him first if he's ok with spice - he was warned. Even my husband who will dump an entire spice tray on his Thai food said it was legitimately spicy! So again, a very intriguing flavor but not up to an entire cup of it. I ended up with hazelnut coffee which was fantastic and he got Apple Pie, also very tasty. The creamy, icy balance stayed perfect throughout. There were so many choices, and from what I understand, they use local, natural ingredients. I will be back to try more of the regular offerings along with seasonal flavors. The inside of the shop is simple, not trendy or themed, just lots of nods to the Lumpy's brand and the Wake Forest area. You can feel the love here. There is a small parking lot and it's also walkable from White Street."

There is free parking in the parking garage, the lots on the end or in the 15 minute parking spots. The staff is friendly and will provide you two samples. There are many flavors to choose from and they seem to change some of the flavors each month. I got a scoop of gingerbread ice cream and a chocolate milkshake with marshmallows. The gingerbread became a little too rich for my taste buds but the chocolate shake was very good. The prices are on the high side so that would keep me from coming often."

Kellie R. "I honestly hate to give poor reviews and I do tend to give businesses with low stars a try (you never know if other people just came in on a bad day). Unfortunately, it seems as though service is getting a bad reputation with every customer coming in. Walking into Raleigh Rolls was fun for sure! I loved the artwork on the walls and loved the details of the painted water flowing onto the floor. The menu was easy to read but unfortunately, didn't list any ice cream flavors. I'm assuming every option gets their "vanilla" ice cream which is just cream in a bottle. I honestly don't know if it's even flavored and if it is, yikes (more on that). We were greeted by three of the staff, but they weren't very welcoming. The person doing my rolled ice cream did minimal interaction and didn't even look at me when asking a question. It just felt like we were unwanted there. I ordered the Nanner Pudding and my husband ordered Monkey Business. They looked amazing when we got them but the first bite left us wondering why these are so expensive? There's no flavor!! When I saw them make mine with two Nilla Wafer cookies and one slice of banana, I thought maybe the ice cream had banana flavoring (same with my husband who's ice cream was made with a little Nutella and one slice of banana). Both were just...flavorless. How is there an ice cream shop with flavorless ice cream?? I was shocked by this. $10 for a cup is way too much for that. Theres definitely room for improvement here and that starts with training their staff to be more welcoming and the other is to taste test their product before putting it out to the public."

They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating while we were there. My son loved the bacon and avocado cheeseburger, while I always opt for the traditional Shack burger. Sometimes simple is just the best! I like their fries, I don't love them. I also do thoroughly enjoy their shakes and love how they have different special flavors every month. Overall a solid spot to grab a burger and order online if you are hoping to cut down on some of the wait!"

Unlike DQ or any convenience store, the ice cream is small batch more delicious than any big box brand. The ideal ice cream shop goes beyond serving delicious frozen treats; it creates an immersive experience that delights customers through visual appeal, enticing aromas, high-quality ingredients, and friendly service. It becomes a place where customers can create cherished memories while indulging in their favorite frozen delights, and this is the focus of the creative cone. The creative cone brings a "build a bear" experience in the form of frozen desserts. However, it is still serve your own toppings. On one hand this is nice since you can control how much of each topping you want. On the other hand it is less sanitary and increases the chance of cross contamination. Plus, it offers unique frozen yogurt flavors (like taro) and toppings (like mochi). The tarwas running out and one of the toppings was missing a spoon. The employees are friendly and they immediately fixed the taro and got an extra scoop. Prices are about the same as other self serve frozen yogurt establishments. These places are on the pricier end, but okay for the occasional treat.
