It's quality, a lot of food and so cheap! Service is great and the place is adorbs. We had the brussel sprouts app and it was really good. Also had the crab Rangoon dip which tastes just like you think it should. I had the tuna-avotini. It wasn't the best quality tuna but for the price it was great. I prefer the poke over this dish. Anyone lined their meals and they did a great birthday celebration!"

Mel T. "Our party of 9 came in on a Friday night at around 6. We were originally quoted a wait time of an hour but luckily, they were able to seat us within 10 minutes. For the table, we ordered:-Fried Green Tomatoes - this came with six slices, some feta cheese sprinkled on top, and a dipping sauce. They were good but it didn't feel that hot, which is something I would expect from a fried food-Southern Mac (pimento cheese & bacon & topped with cheddar & mozzarella cheese) - this is definitely a good sharing dish. I can't imagine eating a whole thing of this by myself because after a few bites, I was already feeling pretty weighed down. I normally don't love pimento cheese, but it wasn't too overpowering here-Parmesan Brussels Sprouts - I enjoyed these. For some reason, I can never make brussels sprouts at home as good as they do in restaurants. Maybe their secret is just a ton of butter-Hot Honey Brussels Sprouts - I liked these even better since the hot honey gave it a bit of a kick, and it came with bacon bitsFor my entrée, I had the Shrimp & Grits (lightly spicy shrimp sautéed with bacon & green onion over cheddar cheese grits--served with grilled ciabatta bread). They give you a generous portion of shrimp, which was perfectly cooked, and a heap of bacon. If you need a meal to put you into a food coma, this is it. The grits are cheesy and buttery. It was good but very rich. I was only able to eat half before I had to throw in the towel and get the rest to go. I reheated the leftovers the next day, and it was still pretty good.We were all stuffed but still wanted to try the Chocolate Chess Pie, so we got one slice of that to share. It reminded me a fudge pie. A little too sweet for me.As expected with Southern cooking, the food is pretty heavy. Instead of one person ordering an entrée, I would recommend just ordering a bunch of different things to share, so you get more of a variety. And you're not stuck eating a whole thing of mac and cheese by yourself."

The fries are always fresh, and the sprinkling of rosemary really livens them up! Pair it with one of their signature dipping sauces (my favorite is the spicy ranch), or just keep it simple with a handful of ketchup packets on request. I've had most of the burgers here and honestly haven't been disappointed in any of them, though my go-to is the Bobo chili cheeseburger... Carolina Style! The service crew is always on point and moving things quickly, so you're almost guaranteed to get your order in 10-15 minutes or less. Fresh, hot, and bursting with flavor!"

The menu gives you a choice of either build a burger or go with their suggested combos. I chose the complements which came with my burger which was not extra. What's going on over there? *eye brow raised* We decided to come back a little later in the evening when we believed it might be a little less traffic within the location. As there is a very small parking lot and a lot of businesses in the area. When we arrived back to try them out, the line was still strong but not as bad. You will notice, there is a little bit of seating outside, some when you walk in, and some in the back. You basically find your own seating and someone will come to you. We choose to order our food to go. The place looked very clean and the staff members were very friendly. Even with all the people, the orders were moving very quickly and people were in and out in less than 10 mins. Everything came out wrapped in foil, giving that old school diner feel - love it. Keeps the food hot and best for travel. The burgers were very very good - puts you in mind of Five Guys (if you like that style of burger). We enjoyed everything we got and will be back for more!"

The meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Even after the drive home (it's about 15 minutes away from us), the food was still so warm that it fogged up my camera when I tried to snap photos. We shared sides of onion rings and fries. I really liked the onion rings, they were crispy and golden on the outside. I think the fries are just okay but the real star of the show here is the cheesesteaks. I didn't get one this time but their hotdogs are pretty good as well. Anyway, I ordered a double cheeseburger and I like that they let you add just about any toppings you want. They did come on ordinary Wonder rolls, so that could have been a little better. There are plenty of parking options, but the adjacent lot is small then there's a dirt lot right across from the restaurant as well. The size of the restaurant is my only complaint. I live right across the street so I just do to-go, but have gone during the week for lunch a few times when it wasn't too busy. They have a full bar with a lot of beer and liquor options as well as a few wine options. The servers are all friendly and helpful. Definitely a small-town family feel when you go. That's where the napkins and ketchup are too. Drinks are self serve except for tea....you have to go up and ask for it. I am a fan!The Deets:Venturing out on a rainy Sunday, I tried Sophie's Grill and Bar off Hwy 55 in Cary. They do take reservations off Open Table but it was not needed on this day. They have a very open space, nicely done with a hint of European flavor. There is a spacious bar front and center as well with plenty of TVs to follow sports action/programs. I was seated upon entering and given the menu. Again, the menu gives an Eastern European impression with some American favorites as well. I chose to start with Potato & Cheese Pierogi with menu description "traditional eastern European fried dumplings, stuffed with cheese, boiled potatoes, butter and seasoning, served with caramelized onions." I liked these a lot, a definite crisp along the edges and tasty ingredients inside. They do appear a bit greasy/oily when they come out but taste very good. For my main choice, I went with their Chicken Schnitzel, menu described as "pickled marinated & panko crusted. Served with mushroom Marsala sauce and mashed potatoes." Again, I liked this one, the flavors were great together and the mushroom sauce made a nice addition. Service was good during my visit and I was checked on several times during my meal. My wife and I were not hungry because we had just eaten but after quickly looking at their ratings on Yelp and Google we knew we had to stop. Since we have moved to North Carolina, my wife has discovered that she loves hush puppies and this gave her another opportunity to try them. They have a menu board on the front and you order through a window, then wait for your number to be called. There is also signage stating there is indoor seating but we did not go inside since we were just grabbing a light snack. As we checked out the menu, others were waiting for their orders and picking up. You know when they have on their menu board "Bulk Orders To Go" it must be good. They sell their BBQ by the pound and the coleslaw, potato salad, Brunswick stew, baked beans, collard greens, and mac and cheese by as much as a gallon. We decided to just try the hush puppies and a side of the mac and cheese. The place looks like it has been here for many years and is a staple in the community. The changes to the restaurant are really nice with the booths; tables and bar.I've had mixed experiences at the Village Grill. My brunch back in October was amazing with the eggs benedict and grits. The service was also really good and attentive. So I had been meaning to get back to dinner and was disappointed. I went with the filet mignon. I'm not sure why they put pimento cheese on it but I took that off as it doesn't belong on a filet mignon. The meat wasn't up to the quality I expect for the cut so maybe that is why they use the cheese. I did enjoy the sweet potato but no cinnamon was provided but that just might be my personal preference. The asparagus was good although all the food was on the cooler side rather than served hot. Another in my party sent some of her food back to be reheated. I think I would have been better off with a burger. Service was also lacking as the waitress disappeared at numerous times. The chicken swarma was well seasoned with the perfect amount of garlic sauce. The lettuce wilted quickly, so if it's to-go, have them leave it off. The gyro was excellent, and the tzatziki sauce was homemade. The hummus was exceptional and I highly recommend it. It comes with chicken and lamb. The two detractors and reason I removed a star....the kids' chicken nuggets were frozen Dino-nuggets and very dry. They can certainly improve a kids staple, especially for $7.99. The other no-go was the potato skins. It was literally a quartered potato with some cheese sauce and bacon. The entire concept of "skins" was c9mpletely lost. Skip it and go for the hummus.
