"You can get on the waitlist through Yelp to cut down on your wait time. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that you could do this and there were a bunch of people waiting. Luckily the wait wasn't too long. My daughter was hoping the robot would seat us but it wasn't in use.Even though the restaurant was packed, the booth we were sitting at was surrounded with planter dividers and it was very secluded. We were impressed with the staff. Our drinks were kept full and our server checked on us often to see if we wanted to place another order. The staff walked around pretty regularly to check on our grill. When they noticed that the food started sticking to the grill plate, they quickly replaced it with a clean grill plate. My favorite was the Seol Steak. I also liked the Bulgogi but it wasn't as sweet as I've had at other Korean BBQ places. My daughter's favorite was the Premium Brisket which I thought was tender but lacked flavor. There is a 100 min. time limit from the moment your order is placed. I'm not sure how close we were to the time limit, but it was enough time with 4 people ordering several rounds of meat. This will definitely be on our rotation when we visit our daughter & son-in-law. I can see why they were voted Best Korean Restaurant 2 years in a row!"
"Visiting from out of town, got food to go so that we could have some leftovers for home. Delicious food, and awesome friendly service. We will return when we are in town again."

Visit Restaurant Page"So a group of us (3 adults and 2 kids) were super hungry and ready for an early lunch; we were out & about in Downtown Asheboro and decided to give Hops a try. We sat ourselves and chose a booth; nothing else to choose from really so if you're a big party, be prepared to be separated. We didn't care though, we were so hungry all five of us shoved ourselves into a booth. Our waitress was super friendly and helped us go over the menu, this was our first time dining here and we are all still a little bit new to authentic Southern cuisine. Our kids were pleased with grilled cheese, chicken tenders and french fries. I chose the special of the day which was chicken and dumplings; it came with two sides and I chose onion rings and macaroni & cheese. The hush puppies were delicious. I really enjoyed my meal, all of us at the table enjoyed picking at the onion rings and I thought the mac & cheese was very tasty. I would absolutely come back to Hops, I would get the chicken & dumplings again for sure and I definitely want to try breakfast. Thank you!"
"Great local spot for north Carolina cooking, they have all kinds of entree, different types of bbq, roasted turkey wings, fried chicken and etc. Long line during lunch so you know locals like it. Their gravy is very salty so beware. Interior is old asf, the whole strip mall is outdated but you don't have to dine in. Most people order to go and enjoy the food at the comfort at their home."
"Living in Florida, there's no real good Bar-B-Q, so I had to stop in to fill up. There's nothing like good old fashioned East Carolina BBQ pork, slaw and all the other great sides. Find a seat inside the wood paneled dining room and be transported back in time as you order like people have for more than half a century. Everything is simple, clean, and the waitress is sweet and patient with newbies like my gf who's never experienced such deliciousness. If you're on 95 heading North to bland food, or South to Vinegar/Mustard BBQ, it'll be worth your efforts to drop in for EXCELLENT traditional Bar-B-Q."
"I took my mom to eat here because it was close to the hotel we were staying at and I was happy I did. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was good and a nice size portion, and the place was clean. The French toast really stood out because it was really tasty. They had a senior menu choice which was discounted. The coffee was the only thing that we found not good. Overall, a great place to visit."
"I believe BBQ Joes has by far the best bbq in the surrounding area. Service is mediocre but the bbq is top notch. On my visit today I had to place my order at the bar, the last time I dined here I was waited on at the table but that has apparently changed. The baked beans were very flavorful. The fries are beer battered, not my preference. Sweet tea is delicious. If you want good bbq then see the folks at BBQ joes at one of their two locations."
"Update to a review I left before: returned to Picnic and had one of the area's best BBQ sandwiches, complete with mac and cheese and hushpuppies, so good they will make your tastebuds sing. Prompt and efficient process to order and receive food. The setting may feel a little stark, given the exposed ceiling and huge chalkboard of drinking options, but where else will you get a brew named Bring Me a Shrubbery? Go there. Eat. Enjoy."
"Food Truck Time: Off the HogI've been late with writing this review, I tried this food truck a few weeks ago. I ordered the pulled pork plate with bourbon baked beans and cole slaw. I was able to try a few bites of the mac & cheese from my moms plate too. The food was okay, I've had better barbecue from other food trucks. It looks like they are newer so I'm hoping to try them again soon."
"Family of 3 at e for $33.00. LOVE the BBQ! You've got to do the rib tips and try the "meet me in the middle" sauce. (Note: Rib Tips are the edges - I think - but what makes them so good is that they are very fatty - the char is on all edges - lremember ladies - fat is where the flavor is!) Updated review because they've updated the dining room with new tables and chairs. Still have a nice outside place to sit. Super folks! Great food!"
"By chance, I ended up at the Eno River Brewery and was in need of lunch and was excited to see this as an option that was very close by! From the outside, it looked like a very simple place which was part of the draw for me. Deciding between brisket and pork is usually a challenge for me, so I this time I opted for both with two sides. Both the pork and brisket were good. I would consider the Mac and cheese to just be average but did enjoy the corn pudding. The hush puppies were pretty good too! I'm sorry I don't recall my servicer name, but she was attentive. I thought the food was reasonably priced and would totally return again in the future! Thank you for a great meal!"
"I recently moved into the area and I tried Smithfield's for the first time. I went through the drive through and ordered the combo white which comes with fried chicken, pulled pork, hushpuppies and 2 sides. All of my food was hot and tasty. I have not tried any of their bbq sauces yet but I will get around to it. Also, if you want ketchup for your fries, you will need to ask for it. Otherwise, none will be in your bag. I have already returned about 2 or 3 times over the past week while getting settled into and unpacking my new home. I will definitely be returning in the near future."

Stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night while down Raleigh for the YGO tournament with my brother Vog. For those of you who follow my Yelps and then pop me for them, Vog is the captain when we go to hot pot or KBB places- seasoned veteran, 5 star general, etc etc. Upon walking in I signed in on the waitlist right before the hostess came out and told us we were being immediately sat. To take us to the table, a mechanical robot cat led us - different, our brother Reese seemed dialed in to the robot, and I knew the whole trip was going to be a movie. Standard AYCE KBB, side dishes on the table, ordered several meats per trip, but what was different (and appreciated) was the call button on the table in case we needed something quicker than the table-touches. Our waiter was still very attentive and didn't need a whole lot of prompting in terms of refills or replacing our grill. If they replace the grill top, that's how you know you're at a real one. Meats were the typical - also tried the Korean corn dog which was great until I got to the actual hot dog part; fried dumplings were good, and the kimchi pancake was VERY GOOD. Overall, I put away 5 tins of rice (shoutout Nick & Cupples) like it was nothing as well as enough Bulgogi and brisket curls to choke a horse, and we got out of there. Great spot - highly recommended!

Ordered takeout on our way to a baseball tournament and ended up staying to eat in because everyone working was so friendly and kind. The chicken was piping hot, their homemade hot sauce was killer, bbq sauce was sweet and smoky and a great companion to our pork sandwiches (with a yellow slaw). The tea stayed refilled and we couldn't have had a better experience. Definitely stop in for some classic eastern Carolina bbq and stay for the friendly smiles and warm greetings.

Hop's Bar-B-Q is a welcoming place to dine today. The restaurant is seat yourself and a waitress will bring you a menu and take your order. The restaurant opened in 1952 and was part of a sit-in on January 27th 1964. I knew about the Woolworth "sit-in" in Greensboro NC. I did not realize that the success of that sit-in led to other sit-ins. The Asheboro sit-ins on Sunset Ave happened four years later as those businesses were still segregated. When the peaceful protesters were not allowed inside they circled around the building holding hands while laying on the ground so nobody else could enter. They were spit on, beaten and called names. Eventually 60 were arrested. North Carolina has an ugly history but I wanted to go here because this was where civil rights were fought for.I ordered the BBQ plate with fries and hushpuppies. The sauce was different than I had before. The sauce that came on the bbq was thicker than the extra sauce in the bottle as that was watery. It still tasted really good. The prices are very reasonable here as well. I'd return here for another meal.

Very yummy soul food.I loved the cheesy broccoli and cheese, Mac & cheese, hamburger w gravy, hush puppies, turkey wings were a little tough but had nice seasoning, and iced tea. The line was long but worth it. They give you a lot of food, good lord! We will be back.

I am so glad this place was on Yelp!! I lived in NC for a long time and was passing though from a road trip and dying for killer Carolina BBQ. This was incredible. We got the family pack with a pint of BBQ, a pint of Potato salad and 1/2 pint of Cole slaw. Seriously the best of the best. Highly recommend. Friendly people and clearly popular. It was a bit crowded!

Simple yet DELICIOUS chicken sandwich. Anytime I am in the area I crave this menu item and the 2 hushpuppies that come with it. It is such cute spot to enjoy lunch with friends or family or even have a nice dinner out for great comfort food.Thank you for being consistent in taste Picnic, I definitely will continue to be back!
Visit Restaurant Page"My experience with Eastern Carolina barbecue turned out to be most memorable here. I had a group of 5 and everyone raved about it. For me, the experience with the pork is what I will remember most. It seems like this place relies on their slow technique to provide the flavor instead of seasoning. It comes out incredibly juicy, and in this case their sauce complements it perfectly instead of overwhelming it. But on top of all of that, the hush puppies were addictive, the chicken was tender and juicy, the potato salad was wonderful, and even the sweet tea was perfect. As an out of towner passing through from Philly, this will be a meal I remember for a long time."
"I stopped at the Smithfield's in Wilson North Carolina. It was during coronavirus. Normally when I'm going through North and South Carolina I stop at the little mom and pop barbecue places. I was a bit pressed for time today and Smithfield's was close to where I was refueling. I was very, very pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the friendliness, and the overall service. Plus the food was hot and tasty and for a pork barbecue sandwich, A huge order of french fries and a Coke it was about nine dollars. It seems like an extraordinarily good value to me. Plus they were taking all the prescribed precautions for coronavirus. This is definitely worth a stop if you're going up and down I 95 and want a hot and tasty barbecue meal."
"We enjoyed our time at The Blue Note Grill in downtown Durham. I think the food is three stars (okay), but the live music, laid-back atmosphere, and friendliness of both the staff and the patrons bumps this business up to four stars (good) for me. Barbecue, ribs, and music succinctly sums this place up.We ended up here because we were looking for a barbecue restaurant in Durham that was open for dinner on a Wednesday night after 8:00pm. There weren't many options. We didn't know about the live music aspect of The Blue Note Grill until we arrived. This place is popular. We showed up and checked in around 6:45pm. They don't take reservations. We were told the wait would be about 30 minutes and I was given a pager. The estimated wait time was pretty much spot-on as we were seated around 7:15pm.On a Wednesday night, we were told the main indoor dining room and bar - the one with the stage and live music - was full. If we wanted to sit in there, there would be a $5 cover charge per person. Our other options were the fully-enclosed patio and the open-air patio. I asked if I could see all three options before making a decision and one of the staff obliged.I ended up choosing the open-air patio for our small group of three because: (1) We wanted to catch up and the music was too loud inside. Sitting inside is for those who primarily want to enjoy the music. (2) The enclosed patio was actually warmer and stuffier than the open-air patio. We ended up liking the open-air patio, even though we had to deal with flies and mosquito bites, because we could hear each other easily and still enjoy the live music coming from the inside. The patio was decorated with plants and string lights. It had picnic tables, most of which were covered by umbrellas. We got the only table that was under a canopy.By the way, I also noticed another indoor dining room called the "Rib Room." It's to your right upon entering. There was no one in there and it appeared to be closed. Maybe they didn't have enough staff to open that room. The night of our visit, it was "Brett's Open Mic," 7-10pm. "Brett" being Brett Chambers, who's been doing Open Mics since September 1996. Go to https://www.thebluenotegrill.com/events to see all upcoming events. According to The Blue Note Grill's website, they've been around since 2010 and moved to their current location at 709 Washington St in June 2015. They have live music nightly, Tuesday-Saturday. They're closed Sunday and Monday. The business is located on the northern edges of Durham's Central Park and Warehouse District neighborhoods. The building is old. Free parking is located next to and behind the building by an old wooden train trestle bridge and some defunct oil tanks. I'm not sure what was here before. Be careful pulling into and out of the parking lot because the ramp from the street was very steep. Sitting on the patio, we heard many cars hit and scrape the curb/driveway. The ramp needs to be redone/regraded.Along with barbecue, The Blue Note Grill serves burgers, sandwiches, chili, Brunswick stew, wings, barbecue/Southern sides, appetizers like crispy pickle fries and deviled eggs, and desserts like banana pudding and chocolate lava cake. Here's what we got:* Redneck Cheese Fries ($9.99) with Pickled Jalapenos (+$1.00) - French fries smothered with melted housemade pimento cheese, served with ranch dressing* Alaska Wild Wings ($9.99) - eight fried pollock bites with sweet red chili sauce and tartar sauce* Baby Back Ribs Full Rack ($31.99) with hush puppies, fried okra, and housemade coleslaw* Baby Back Ribs Half Rack ($19.99) with hush puppies, substitute salad (+$2.00), and fried okra* Pulled Pork BBQ Plate ($13.99) with hush puppies, collards, and green beans sauteed in bacon and onionsOverall, I thought the food was fine. Nothing stood out as either great or bad. My wife enjoyed the Redneck Cheese Fries more than I did. The ranch dressing was a nice touch. I liked the Alaska Wild Wings. They were crispy and boneless. They also came with celery and carrot sticks. The Baby Back Ribs were a bit too tough and chewy. However, the portion size was generous. The Pulled Pork was OK. In general, I think it and the sides lacked a bit of seasoning and flavor. The salad was fresh and came with onion, cheese, tomatoes, and carrots. The fried okra was yummy. The condiment basket included two kinds of barbecue sauces, Eastern NC (thinner, more vinegary) and Western NC (thicker, sweeter). Our server Kai S was great. He was funny and did a nice job. The other staff was great as well, including the hostess/manager. Despite a busy night, all of our food came out fast. There was a scan-QR-code-to-pay option on the receipt. I usually prefer this over using my physical card, but The Blue Note Grill uses Heartland Payment Systems who makes you download/install their app, sign up, and then pay. I didn't have time for that and paid with card instead. From a guest experience, Toast is better."
"On our way to Florida, the restaurant was recommended by the staff member at our hotel, during check in. The restaurant is located in an old mill building in town that really cannot be understated. I wish we had been able to explore a little. It was a Wednesday evening, around 7pm and we did not have a reservation. the place was quite busy but we were seated almost immediately. Our bartender/waitperson, Teresa, was accommodating and knowledgeable of the menu.I chose the Seafood Gumbo, along with Mac n Cheese and Cole Slaw while my wife went with lighter fare and ordered a Caesar Salad along with Cole Slaw. After a long day we declined any dessert. The menu looked terrific and I hope to be able to stop in again."
"If you're searching for a fast-food dinner that doesn't taste like fast food, look no further than Smithfield's. We were regular customers at the Hwy 42 store, and were happy to find one just over yonder when we moved to our new home in Goldsboro last week. Hot, tired, cranky and hungry, it was great to get the next best thing to home cookin'!Smithfield's serves up fresh, crispy fried chicken, hush puppies, pulled pork, Brunswick Stew, potato salad, baked beans - all the best southern homestyle for a reasonable price. There's a plate or a family sized-box sure to cure your hungries, and it tastes like your mama's or grandma's best Sunday dinner. Customer service is outstanding, and they'll make you feel like family at every visit. I've never had a bad experience anytime, anywhere - they'll meet your standards no matter which store you walk into. If you're having a party, unexpected company, having a bad day and need comfort food, or are just too tired to cook, Smithfield's Chicken and 'cue can take care of you. I highly recommend the Tailgate Special with Bar-B-Q; it feeds the four of us with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Their pulled pork is Carolina classic, and so is the Brunswick Stew. Enjoy, and bring your appetite."
"First visit pretty darn impressive. The young lady taking orders literally came out of the business to invite us to try their food. We just ordered a rack of ribs (no sides) and were not disappointed! Good portion size and what I especially liked was they grilled quickly the ribs before saucing to give them a hint of a charred flavour - nice touch! Very small establishment set up for take out only and that's a good thing. Check these folks out!"
"During the Pandemic time, something tried and true is what we crave. An old school eastern NC barbecue house with most of the dishes you expect. I had fried oysters and barbecued pork. Both were very good and the cole slaw although finely chopped was not so full of mustard. Kinston has quite alot to choose from and King's is still a good value."
"This has been a family favorite for years! We love coming here at lunch time for their buffet and sweet tea. BBQ is vinegar based and so tasty. They also have freshly fried chicken and sausage. The buffet is loaded with tons of fixins' including sweet potato, lima beans, gravy, collards, and so much more! Overall, I've been coming here since I was a little girl and it has been consistently delicious."
"This place made me feel like I was home. And I'm not even from NC. My grandma didn't make our food, but it was made with so much love I would've thought she did. The chicken is crispy, seasoned, and the hush puppies got right in me greatly. Great food for the price and filled with southern love. Love from Jerry."
"Great . Very clean , food and service was outstanding! ! I would highly recommend this place."
"Absolutely fantastic BBQ. This is an old gas station converted into a BBQ place, and it's clean but simple - but you're really not here for the ambiance or the service, you're here for the meat, and the meat is delicious. Easily the best brisket I've had in years, no question there, and it was helped along by some awesome sauces. The pulled pork was fantastic as well. The sides (I chose collard greens and fried okra) were great, very home-y. If I lived anywhere nearby, I'd go here all the time."
"I ordered the chicken and shrimp combo. The line was long but quick, we came in with a busload of men and a sprinkle of wives who were attached to the hip of their husbands.Anyway, the service was quick and the food was hot! The chicken was seasoned, crispy, hot and delicious. The shrimp were itty, bitty, baby shrimp like you would find in a cheap shrimp fried rice. Hot fires and sticky baked beans. Overall I give this meal a 6 out of 10. The service here was exceptional, fast, polite, and service at your table! The ambiance was your typical diner-style atmosphere. Overall service is 9 out of 10. Ambiance 4 out of 10 nothing special."
"We always get our fried chicken fix at Smithfields.Since there is not one near our house, any time we travel and there is one near us, we always stop in.Friendly counter service. Chatted with the guy at the register to find out he was from Charlotte NC and was headed back this fall to go to school. Also found out both he and I both fish at Lake Norman.Wife and I get the same thing each time. Her 2 pc dark with baked beans and I the 2 pc white with brunswick stew.We both love the fried chicken here. Crispy, flavorful non greasy skin with moist tender chicken inside. The eastern NC vinegar dip on the table compliments both the chicken and the stew. The sweet tea was spot on, being just sweet enough with out being so sweet as to put you in a diabetic coma.We tried the banana pudding for dessert and this is the only time Smithfields has ever failed us. This was not even close to true southern banana pudding. Just banana flavored pudding with no bananas and very, very mushy vanilla wafers. Won't ever order that again. But as far as the fried chicken goes, like I said we always stop to eat anytime we see a Smithfields in our travels."
"I'll go out of my way to visit any Korean place that offers eun deh gu jorim (stewed black cod dish with turnips and tofu), and this place does. Luckily, 7 of my friends were also willing to go out of their way, and we were able to have a big family style dinner and sample a bunch of different things!I'll start with the not-so-great:- Many of their dishes are unnecessarily sweet. Particularly the beef bulgogi, which has almost a sugar-candy coating.- The 'Korean BBQ' dishes really have no business being called that or costing as much as they do. At any other place, they would come out with wraps, extra fermented veggies, etc. Here it's just a tiny bowl of rice and a small plate of meat and onions - and it's in the high $20's - $30's depending on what you order.- The service was bad enough to impact our meal - usually I won't write about service because who cares, but he gave us beer bottles with no way to open them, sundubu with no spoons or serving bowls, and took almost half an hour to get the table some water. They were clearly understaffed and it wasn't wholly his fault, but still. The good:- They had one of the best haemool pajeon I've had in recent memory, really crispy, puffed, and fresh. I didn't even mind that they didn't serve it with any sauce.- Good tteokbokki. This dish can get pretty gummy and, honestly, boring after a few bites, but they kept it interesting with a light sauce and lots of cabbage and onions- What can be an oft-small, afterthought fried mackerel in other places was a behemoth, crisp, tender, meaty monster here! This side dish could have been a full meal.- Once we had spoons to eat our sundubu with, that was also delicious!"
"OK brisket sandwich from this food truck.Brisket seemed more like it was simmered than smoked. Was very juicy and tender, but a little too mushy. It was flavorful and lean. Cup of BBQ sauce (you have to ask for it) was tangy and delicious. Sandwich served on a potato roll. Mac n cheese was creamy, cheesy and excellent. Slaw was a vinegar based, and somewhat bland.Overall, this was an OK meal. Nothing special. Maybe ordering earlier in the day would yield a better cut of brisket?"
"Stopped in for my first Smithfield's experience. We passed by and my husband asked if I'd ever been and when I said no, he whipped a Uturn and pulled in. My first thought was "this is a local small town bojangles". First and foremost these may be the best fries I've ever had. They were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. I went with the dark meat platter and my husband got the chicken tender snack tray. You can go through the drive through or go in and order. You order at the counter for take out or sit down. The menu isn't lengthy but I see that as they stick to what they know they're good at."
"When we got there around 1pm the line was to the door. As soon as we lined up an employee approached us and offered free beer! That was nice! A drink while waiting in line for food. Today I got the loaded baked potato with brisket! They also gave me a few sample slices of the brisket, delicious! We got a pint of Mac n cheese for the kids to share. The cheese gets into the pasta shells. My kids ate it up! The service was fast and they were friendly. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. There is also a nice outdoor area for the kids to play in. Some of the best bbq I've had! I was sad they ran out of the Saturday special Lechon. Got to get there early because they do run out of things."
"My family and I had the opportunity to Grab CRAVE to go and it was great. We took of advantage of their $2 hot dogs + 2 free toppings and it came with a chips and a drink! We ordered one plain, one with ketchup and one with chili + Cole slaw and we thought it was delicious! The staff is very nice and welcomed us into the store! The restaurant was clean and the drinks were fresh! I love that the restaurants has multiple TVs which would be perfect for sports games. For parking the parking lot can fill up quickly but there is a parking deck connected to the shopping center that you can us! We look forward to going back because we heard that the hot sausage is delicious. Overall solid restaurant in a great location"
"Ummmmmmm...SIMPLY THE BEST!!!! (In my Tina Turner voice) I love this place! Love love love. Every Friday is fish Fridays and I will be in the place. The cabbage and green beans are phenomenal. They're my go to sides. I also love succotash when they have it. Now, let me get to this pork chop. I haven't ate a pork chop in sooooooo long and man this was a perfect way to get back in the pork chop game! Delicious!!!! So yummy...frfr. And it's clearly the neighborhood spot, it stays packed! Run don't walk to Woodard Family BBQ & Grill."
"Delicious BBQ and the friendliest service around. It's a tiny hole in the wall but you won't be disappointed. The price point is just right. For $16 you can get hush puppies, two sides and BBQ entree. These are some of the best hush puppies I have EVER had. It's a lot of food too. The BBQ is souther style and they offer sweet of ginger sauce in the side. It also comes with a drink."
"First visit here on 10/9/20. We went through their busy but fast drive thru. My son wanted their hotdog kid's meal, but the cashier said they don't serve hotdogs. Why is it on the ordering board then? Anyway, luckily he's not picky. Lol. He got a chicken strip kid's meal instead which was not listed on the order board. They were adhering to social distancing inside as well as in the drive thru. After paying at the window, I had to pull up to an orange cone to have my order brought out to me. The guy was really fast. I appreciated that. Our food was fresh. I ordered 2 chicken wings and shrimp basket. I didn't know the shrimp were popcorn shrimp. I expected for that price for them to be medium sized at least. Our food was fresh and very tasty though. Next time I will just order chicken. The shrimp costs too much for the small amount they give. The restaurant is nestled in a busy parking lot next to a gas station and Sonic. People can't drive, so be very careful. We will be back for sure."
"The food was amazing. Tried there pulled pork sandwich for the first time. LOVED IT!!!! very polite helpful young staff unlike other places out here. Food is good and restaurant was very clean."
"Flounder fillet platter unsatisfactory. Fries, just Okay, hush puppies Okay. Baked beans were good.Slaw was minced and we didn't care for it. Milk shake ok. Just nothing really delish and we know it's fast food, but we expected more. Total bill $15."
