Great food. Great gumbo, excellent grilled oysters. Kids food is awful. Chicken tenders were cooked to death. Somebody needs to tell these restaurants if I can't convince my kids to eat there, we aren't coming back. Messing up chicken tenders when all you do is fry food is a huge mistake. I don't think anyone there has tasted their food in a while. Cmon guys, sneak in when it's busy and taste your food and honestly ask yourself why people would pay $9 for a kids meal that taste like burnt oil and burnt flour

Ragin Cajun's been a round for a while and has been a staple in cajun cuisine around town. There use to be a lot more locations but over the past decade, they've been shuttering doors. However this particular location has survived the purge. I came here to hit up their happy hour as I was craving oysters and some cheap light beers. I'm glad to share that this place delivered strongly in those two categories. The oysters were fresh and large. The beer is cold and crips. Straight up what I needed at the time. The atmosphere has the walls decorated with memorabilia and folks are chill. The service was pretty quick, but we were there on their down time at around 4 pm for their food. They'll have the daily specials listed on the front board so keep your eyes peeled. If you need a fix of oysters and beer, this is the place to remedy that.

Having had the privilege of attending a few crawfish boils in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, I can attest that this place is the real deal. Ragin' Cajun has been serving up Louisianian staples like po' boys, jambalaya, gumbo, and, of course, boiled seafood for going on 50 years. The bright red building just off the road is impossible to miss, and there is a handful of fenced-in wooden picnic tables for outdoor dining (crawfish is best eaten outdoors if the weather permits). The inside has the look of a sports bar with red-and-white checkered tablecloths, a walk-up counter, and a preposterous amount of Louisiana-themed memorabilia, posters, and art. The crawfish is on the expensive side, but I think actually reasonable given quality and size. We ended up spending more than $100 for a few lbs of crawfish, a dozen oysters (happy hour pricing), and a beer. The crawfish comes in large white buckets and they were mid-sized in March - not tiny but not the size of your forearm either. They were legit spicy with a deeply zesty flavor. Really enjoyable. The raw oysters were clean-tasting and served over ice with some lemon and horseradish. Certainly one of the better places in town to satisfy your Spring-time crawfish craving.

This once was my favorite Cajun restaurant in the Houston area. I haven't been here in two or three months traveling a lot for business. Came today 8/17/23 for lunch, ordered the half Poboy / gumbo special. It was more like a third of a Poboy. I counted three or four pieces of shrimp (very small ) and the shrimp gumbo was not good. Flavorless & bland. 2 bites and I pushed aside. All this for $19. I do not know if they've changed management, or ownership, but if this is what is the norm, I will be going elsewhere. Until recently, I was coming to this place 2 to 3 times a month generally for lunch. Sad.

Pretty good service, but the worst gumbo ever. We went there last Saturday Jan 27. The gumbo was way too salty and just not edible. My friend refused to complain so I'm letting you know here. We still paid for it because he didn't want to upset anyone but whatever his choice. So I respected that since he ordered it. But please reduce the amount of sodium in your recipe, just awful!!!!

So I ordered from Uber eats today and I had a bowl of seafood gumbo and a shrimp Poboy, the shrimp Poboy was ok although the bread looked and tasted old. The gumbo which has always been a favorite of mine for decades, was absolutely bland, and tasteless and I can only imagine that it's because it was over half full with rice, which in the end means that it was a cup of gumbo at the price of a bowl with a ton of rice in the rice, soaked up all the flavor, what a disappointment, I can't believe that they do not put the rice on the side in the delivery knowing Call rice absorbs flavor what a disservice to themselves

Went to the new location on 1725 Wirt Rd, Houston, TX 77055, and we loved everything about it ! Our server Jacob was awesome , the busser Mike was always around helping and filling my cup with iceed tea! knows how to keep a client happy! The charbroiled oysters were amazing ! Brussle sprouts to die for, and the cajun plater was just too delish. We finished everything!! Thank you so much! Try the Christmas Ale beer, brewed locally, and tastes great ! The atmosphere was great, we sat outaide and just enjoyed it all!! Thanks to the entire crew !

We stopped in for an early dinner around 5pm. They looked to be seriously understaffed, so we sat at the bar. The bartender appeared to be a competent professional. That was not the case. He quickly forgot about us after the initial round of drinks. Even though there was only one other customer at the bar and few drink orders coming in from the tables, he was ridiculously slow and just didn't care. The food was ok. The shrimp was really fresh (I mean, right out of the gulf fresh). That was impressive. This was the only high point. The rest of the food was bland.Don't bother with this place until they have a management and personnel change.I still have my memories of how great Ragin' Cajun used to be. I hope they can turn the ship around.

When we walked in, the (owner?) walked up to us and pointed us in the direction of the specials, and that's all there is for service, not too bad. However, the reason i've give this place such a low rating was because of the wait in comparison to the food I got in addition to the occupancy of the restaurant. It was not busy at all, however I waited 23 minutes (after being told a 15 minute wait when asking) expecting what was going to be a delicious platter of 2 6oz grilled chicken breast. However, I was unfortunately met with this disgusting husk of an incoherent mass of ungodly charred flesh that, when tried (multiple times. i wanted to finish the first piece because I was STARVING, but ultimately couldn't) tasted like nothing but salty rubber that might have been doused in chicken broth or something. I paid $24 for the dish you see.It wasn't just me either. I came for lunch with some friends and none of us we satisfied with our dishes, and I was the only person upon trying it who didn't throw it away after a few bites (since I was so hungry). Disgusting place.
