This is one my daughters favorite vegan restaurants in Houston. Too bad we live far though.

We absolutely love this place! We ordered green beans and spicy eggplant as appetizers. Both were really good, but the eggplant was not spicy to either of us. The green beans were incredible. Flavorful, crispy, with little bits of (not) pork flavor. We dug in too fast to remember to take pictures of either. We ordered fried rice and sweet and sour (not) pork as entrees. Both were really good, although the fried rice could have used a bit more spice/flavor. Service was great, even though they were really busy. Overall A++ and we are looking forward to coming here again.

I have no complaints on the food. The food is actually good. Why I couldn't give it five stars is because of the service. For the past two weeks, I've spent over $160 on take out, and it would have continued , if the following haven't occurred. On my last order of 5 entrees, and an appetizer, I asked for 1-2 extra chili sauce. I was denied because they said it is limited to 5. I would need to pay additional $.50 for each small cup of this sauce, even though I spent all this money. Therefore, I would not go back to a place that do not appreciate my business, and my money compared to their .50 cents condiment. They have never given me any utensils or napkins with my orders! So, the money they were saving from that, they could've applied it to the 1 -2 chili sauces.Obviously, the customer service needs to be re-vamped on what is important in maintaining customers and referrals in a food establishment. My friends and I would not have difficulties finding another establishment in Houston, Tx that offers great customer service, and good food.

There's only 4 restaurants in all of Houston that serves 'do chay' or Buddhism vegetarian - this is one of them and the worst of all 4. It used to not be bad but has gone downhill. My favorite from here are family style meals (where you get different entrees and big bowl of rice to share among many family members/friends). My to go are salted fried tofu and Thai style soup. Individual meals has gone downhill. Do not get their fried rice, unless you like mushy rice. Don't bother with their rice plates, vermicelli, or pan fried noodles. Everything is mushy and flavorless. Their vegetarian fish sauce is mainly of sugar and water. Hot tea barely has any tea leaves; you're essentially drinking hot water with a hint of tea. Extremely disappointed how this restaurant has become. It look like they recently tried to update their walls but meh, there's 3 other restaurants. I have noticed these past few months that they're only busy when one of four do chay restaurants are closed. Otherwise, they rarely have customers as before. If you're still willing to give this restaurant a try, just remember you pay at the register when you're done!

The owners of this place needs to seriously change the old scraped off and dirty bowls and accessories. The place is that not clean, and the TO GO is a self serve deal - seriously? I have to get up and grab my own to go boxes - for your service? Wow.They offer good vegetarian dishes, but a shaken stir fried tofu dish at Tan Tan outweighs several of their vegan dishes. In this time and age, there seems to be a lack of quality and care in making the restaurant clean and inviting - from chairs, utensils, pots, and more.

Quan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant has been on my bookmark for years. I always wanted to try it out because I have vegan friends asking about it. On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I thought to stop by to take photos of the menu. But I ended up sitting down to have a meal. One, the noodles were only $9.50 (I am starting a blog about meals under $12). Two, the aroma from the kitchen made me wanted to eat. I ordered Vermicelli in Tomato Soup with Crushed Peanut. That was so delicious from the beginning to the end. I wish there was more noodles. I literally emptied the bowl. There were ingredients to resemble meats, like tendon made of starch of some sort and soy textured protein chunks with flavor. I don't know what the floating half-moon was made of. But that was delicious too. While I was eating, I started reading the Yelp reviews to see what people liked. I found a few dishes that could be a good fit on a party of foodie friends. Then, I thought to try the Fried Dumplings. Yeah, I shouldn't because I was already full. Eight pieces of huge dumplings only costed me $6.50. Wow. That sure tasted amazing, especially with the minced pickle-pepper dipping. So, I am determined to feature Quan Yin Vegetarian Restaurant on my Chinatown Crawl collection.

I love the pepper steak and the chunk beef I've been coming here for about 2/3 years and I can tell they put money into bettering their business every year.
