Persian flavors and Mally are the reasons to visit this out-of-way kitchen. My wife and I stopped in for lunch while looking at another nearby shop. We were greeted warmly by David, the assistant, and he explained each of the available dishes on the trays stacked on the shelving unit. We chose pirashkis, flaky dough filled with meats or veggies, and plenty of yummy spices. Our two favorites were the tomato and the chicken and sausages. Mally, the owner and top chef, engaged us in conversation that felt like we were welcome guests in her home, specifically the kitchen. Mally gave us a plate of fresh greens from her garden complete with edible Nasturtium flowers. Very limited seating was available inside and the breezeway outside had a number of tables where we enjoyed our food and a cool breeze. After our lunch, we walked back to the kitchen to tell Mally how delicious everything tasted and I picked up a baklava to go. Tasty walnut and honey in layered philo dough was a great finish lunch. This woman-owned small business is worth supporting, IMO, for all the reasons above. Additional Note: Rice and stew options are available as noted by other Yelpers.

The food is very tasty and vegan and gluten free by default. You can also add meat if you want to. The service is great and the owner is very nice and welcoming. Definitely suggest this place to anyone who is in the area around lunch time.

This seems to be a one woman show! She has a wonderful palate--and provides absolutely delicious flavor combinations unfamiliar to those of us who aren't Persian or Afghani. The Fesenjoon is outstanding, as is her Adas Polo. She has this olive leaf dip (or something like it?) that adds instant deliciousness to anything. Her pastry dough is crunchy and tender and although I don't love the sausages she uses in her chicken pastry, her vegetable pastries are flavorful and filling. Definitely make the effort to find her (or have her cater)--she has odd hours in her store next to Namu and is also at CH farmers market I think (thats where I found her). Just a treasure for this area.

Pomegranate KitchenLimited parkingThis place has the feel of a small family owned restaurant. There were just 2 people in the kitchen. The owner was clearly the chef and in charge as she did a lot of the ordering and cooking, and the second guy seemed like a really new employee. Unlike previous reviews, they actually take credit cards. The menu was simple as there weren't too many options. I got the Package (rice and stew) and did the mixed rice with the jewel rice base and the pomegranate stew. I also ordered the lamb shank. The food came out at a decent time. The mixed rice was amazing! I loved the onions and carrots and some of crispy rice parts. The pomegranate stew was unlike anything I've had before but it really well with the lamb shank. The lamb shank was perfectly and the sauce was great. If I had just had the rice and pomegranate stew, something would have been missing. But with the lamb shank, it was delicious! My only recommendation would be that the rice could have used a slight dash of salt and pepper to bring out the flavor even more. The food was on the pricier side but this is definitely a great place to get some Persian food.

I came across their stand at the Duke Farmer's market on Friday and was instantly drawn in by the delicious aromas wafting from the pomegranate stew. Unfortunately, they do not give out samples, but the two ladies working there both highly recommended it so I decided to go for it. Just the stew or just the lentil rice is $8, but you can get both for $10. They poured a spoonful of stew over a bed of rice, topping it off with a piece of crunchy rice crust from the bottom of the pot. The pomegranate stew is walnut based, with the right balance of tangy and sour. It pairs absolutely perfectly with the rice, which has lots of raisins mixed in that add a little sweetness. Do note that they don't take credit/debit cards.

"Like eating at a delightful Persian friend's house..."This hole-in-the-wall is REALLY tucked away and hard to find. There are some other things to be aware of upfront: not many choices (3 rice variants and 3 stew-like main dishes), only accepts checks & cash, basically no indoor seating, and limited hours (close at 6:30pm, and closed completely on Sundays and Mondays). That said, it's very much like going to your friend's mom's house for dinner. The owner was WONDERFULLY nice to us and really treated us like honored guests for coming. She let us sample all the dishes before buying and gave insightful comments (no meat, no frozen or canned ingredients, nothing fried, everything cooked that day). The place really looked like a slightly larger than home kitchen, and she had the food simmering right there. Sanitation score was a great 99.5. But most of all, we really felt welcomed. We had all the available dishes: basmati rice, a lentil rice mix, a bean & rice mix, pomegranate stew (with walnuts), an eggplant stew, and a beet stew. I have to say- EVERYTHING was great! Everyone in my family loved the food. I especially liked the pomegranate stew and the bean & rice mix, but everything was delightful. The owner even gave us 2 extra dishes (including one off-menu soup) just to say she appreciated our business.Price is $11.95 for a rice dish and a stew (including tax). That may sound high, but the quantity was HUGE. I was absolutely stuffed at the end, and I'm a huge eater. Dishes also came with a small piece of bread and a Hershey's chocolate- some reviewers mocked this, but I thought it was a nice touch.Although there's no indoor seating, there's a decent courtyard right next to it that'd be OK for outdoor picnicking. In terms of just getting there, Oliver's directions were right- drive to the back of New Hope Commons (passing OfficeMax on your right) and then turn left. It's basically right there, but nearly impossible to see from any street. If you want to feel like you're being welcomed to a nice Persian lady's home for dinner (albeit for takeout), this is a place you should try.

The food is SO tasty here, but it is kind of pricey.Because I go to Namu like all the time, I figured that just once I need to change my game and try out Pom Kitchen. It was a rainy afternoon, and I was lucky enough to snag one of the three parking spots outside. With an unassuming storefront, I walked in and was so amazingly welcomed by the chef who reminded me of my own mom. This is HER kitchen. She is just the sweetest person! Keep in mind that there are no tables really indoors to sit, but there are a few outside that are shared with the business (a bakery) next door. The board on the wall has the menu, and it's so nice because there are enough options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The woman who cooks the food is upfront and will help you along the way to make a decision - even for the most indecisive people (like me!).There are different size options for food - one portion for immediate eating, a mid-size for a few meals, and a large size for multi-member party. I chose the mid-size because I wanted to have some leftovers (I was going to be lazy that week given the rain). I got the jeweled rice and the pomegranate stew. They tasted wonderfully together! The stew was sweet and the rice was a good base for it. The amount of food lasted me about 3 meals. The stew was kind of heavy and oily, but it tasted so good and was comforting. I liked that it was vegetarian. I also got a tea that the woman made fresh - it was only okay, I probably could make it better myself. The woman told me that she also makes piroshkis which I LOVE - she sells them to doctors at the farmers' market. I loved how proud she was! They were larger than the normal, small ones. But she said that's what sells. I love how she has been able to change up her menu to meet customer preferences.Like I said, though, the food is a little pricey. I love that it is homemade, but I can't see myself going too often. I see this more as a treat.Bottom line: you cannot find this food anywhere else. The flavor profile is unique, and the woman who makes it will make you feel warm inside.

I can't rave about this place enough! I'm Iranian and have tried dozens of Iranian restaurants in California and in the States generally, and this is definitely one of the best Iranian restaurants I've tried. Mally's food is delectable, complex, and so well done. You can tell her ingredients are high quality and fresh by the quality and taste of the food, though rich and flavorful, it's not heavy! I feel at home because of her food and her warmth :)
