Went to Tonto with my family for a birthday dinner and had a great experience! The setting is amazing, you are right on a golf course if you sit on the patio and the restaurant has umbrellas to shade the sun if needed! Our server was helpful with her recommendations and we decided to try the daily special which was Parmesan Crusted Alaskan Halibut. The fish had a crispy Parmesan Crust and a tender perfectly cooked inside. The Rancho Torta has a lightly breaded pork and ham on it with a great aioli on it! The only negative was that the greens were a bit soggy and took away from the salad/vegetable pairing.

Tonto Grill's food is excellent, and the menu is exciting and changes regularly. Their salads are excellent, and there is plenty to eat for lunch. The burgers are gourmet: juicy and flavorful. The outside seating is comfortable, and the views are beautiful. It's the staff. I could not give higher stars because the HOSTESSES are CONSISTENTLY rude. I have been here many times over the past 10 years and more often in the last 3 years. Mostly, because it is one of the nicer places to bring guests in Cave Creek. But, the hostesses act like they are doing you a giant favor by greeting you and seating you. Sometimes, its 3 teen girls, giggling and talking with each other instead of seating guests. Sometimes its a "just sucked-on-a-lemon" faced older woman. This is by no means a cheap place to eat. I don't mind paying the money for a nice lunch, I just wish I were not annoyed when I left.

Staff/waitress & patrons stand in the bar area looking straight over your head to watch a tv on the wall.. *awkward. All while having vile very LOUD conversations using f-words and other profanity from bartenders/dark haired waitress with a scowl, friends of bartender drunkenly declaring "I'll Slap a b*tch" while sharing a story we were all forced to overhear (such low class service you wouldn't expect for the money spent and the prestige the resort attempts to project). We won't be back. 3rd bad experience here. I hope the young man who works behind the bar can find another place to work that's more befitting of his professionalism and good nature- his coworkers are so rank they do him and the nice family with a young daughter seated in the corner a humiliating disservice.

Horrid service - hostesses are really bad & unprofessional, we left after 30 minutes of being totally ignored. The place is NOT worth the cost, and would not recommend to anyone, especially NOT on a special occasion. Just too many other good places around where they do appreciate you and your hard-earned cash.

This was a bit pricey but so delicious! The service was great. Not their busy season so we got right in and served. We were staying at the resort so this was very convenient. I would recommend this place for a special occasion too.

The evening was truly perfect yesterday. We got into the restaurant with a late add reservation for 6:45 and was seated a tad early despite the lot being packed. This is a busy time of year and lots of folks were golfing and heading to dinner after their game.We got a wonderful seat right outside on the perimeter looking over the greens of the golf course and it was beautiful. We had a bottle of silver ghost Cabernet, which was quite good. Then I had the 5 ounce pesto crusted chilean Seabass, over a bed of rice with a hint of pineapple. The sauce was absolutely amazing as it had mushrooms green peas.My wife was in the mood for a burger, and it was quite good as well. We typically share our meals, and we were both very pleased. Our server, Bobby Ray was wonderful, and we hope to see him again. Lynn, Tonto has been quite consistently for dinner and it is nice that we don't have to go all the way into Scottsdale to get one. I really do recommend trying this place out because the food has been quite good now that we've been here four or five times

I really like this place! Only been for lunch a couple times, but both were delicious. Portions are a bit on the smaller side, but very fresh and well done. Drinks are delicious as well. Loved the Sunday mimosa special. The best part is the patio. It's really lovely during spring and fall to sit outside and enjoy. Definitely will return once the weather has cooled off. Favorites were the salsas, crab cakes, salads and a Thai noodle special. A great place to bring folks visiting!

Such a pleasant surprise! After desiring a new routine from our normal PV lunch spots, we found this on Google. After seeing all the five star reviews on yelp, we decide to take the 40 minute drive to Carefree. Turns out this place is a jewel. It's originally a dude ranch that was super successful in the 1950s, owned by a Chicago couple that wanted to venture out west. it was named Rancho Manana. In fact, the Hilton just bought it four months ago. As its origins were in the diamond hotel chain. This place is charming throwback from the old 40's 50' and 60's western days. It just feels like you're back in time. The food, the service, the ambience were just excellent. Very fun. would definitely go back.Loved the candy by the exit door. Threw me back to when I dined with my parents and grandparents!

11-25-22Reservations Open TableI credit this exceptional find of a restaurant to my Mother in Law. In planning for our trip to Phoenix I wanted to make reservations to take them out. She chose this place and I reserved an early dinner for four. Parking was convenient as it is next to a golf course so beautiful views. We sat outside with heaters on which was really nice. As we are on holiday and to celebrate my husband's early birthday we started with cocktails. I had a spicy blood orange Margarita it was delicious. The table shared a order of fried buttermilk calamari. For the main course I had scallops. Dessert we had a birthday celebration for hubby as well as a crème brûlée that we shared. When the check came I almost fainted as it was half the price the same experience would cost in Miami. Definitely would return the service, food and atmosphere were super.

Nice service and pretty views, but I just don't think the food is worth it. For $60, I got a tiny cup of corn chowder the size of my fist with barely any chicken in it, an ounce of guacamole, two crab cakes, coffee, and a lemon tart. The dessert was probably the only thing that was memorable from the meal. Everything else was average and what you would get at a sports bar. It was all fine, but I don't think it was worth the price.
