Had a small Christmas gathering for 11 here on a early Saturday evening. Restaurant is charming and rustic. We were assigned two waitresses, who did a above average job. Drink orders taken while we looked over the menu. Bread brought. Drinks took quite a while to receive. I had the white sangria. I'm not a wine person but I wasn't feeling any of the craft beers or a Coors Light, I think beer selection could use a little work. But the sangria was refreshing with the added peach purée and I had two glasses. When drinks finally came several appetizers ordered for the table. Calamari was perfect. Tender with a very light breading, accompanied by fried jalapeños and red pepper strips. Entrees ordered. I opted to only have a wedge salad and a crock of French Onion soup (two of my faves) . Both were fantastic, the soup was probably some of the best I've ever had. Wedge salad full of large chunks of creamy blue cheese. Served on a plate big enough to deconstruct. A plus, I hate when restaurants don't leave enough room on the plate to cut that wedge up. My husband ordered the seven ounce filet with a twice baked. He ordered medium and it looked like more medium-well. Twice baked had a charr from the salamander on one side. He said the potato was just average. His meal did have several steamed broccoli crowns and two pieces of warm red beets. Broccoli was well just broccoli. The beets on the other hand were quite tasty. I didn't order dessert but I did have a bite of carrot cake another diner ordered. I'd recommend. Overall it was a good dining experience but took 2.5 hours and it is fairly expensive, even for my soup and salad. and the ladies room needed so attention.
