At the end of the day, don't make a reservation for 5+ at this joint on the weekend. We made one for a Saturday with 11 people. It was not a great experience. Waited about 15-20 minutes for the table, and the whole serving experience wasn't ideal. Never really knew who our waitress was and it was just like playing wackamole in trying to ask for this or that. The food was also not great. So much so that a pasta dish was sent back because it smelled like dirty dish rags. What we snagged (a lot, and only have a few dishes here): -Mussels (great meat in the shells, but had no sauce. Had to order more. They were also cold)-Lots of different salads (best part of the meal) -Veal Parm (Best dish at the table)-Scallops (Scallops a tab bit overdone) -Penne Al vodka (smelled like moldy lord knows what...had to be sent back) Regardless of what was good and what was bad. I don't think we'll be headed back here. Unless it's for a party of 2 on a week day. The staff was overwhelmed and all over the place. Choose another Italian place in the area.

Honestly, it doesn't look like much on the outside. However, everything else about it will readjust your expectations for the better. My parents and I got there around 4-4:30 on a Sunday, which was perfect timing b/c the place filled up after we placed our order. Our food arrived about 20-25 minutes later which is good considering we all had pasta. As someone who loves shrooms, the mushroom sauce w/ spaghetti hits the spot. VERY generous amount of shrooms, and the sauce itself is *chef's kiss*. Not too sweet nor salty, a very balanced (and vegetarian-friendly) sauce that tastes delicious. Pasta was cooked perfectly. The only thing I recommend is, while it looks like a lot of sauce, the ratio of pasta to sauce is skewed slightly with more pasta, because they're that generous with the portions--no complaints on that front.I also love the fact that they give complimentary (and fresh out of the oven!) crusty bread w/ butter. Servers are warm and attentive and know what they're doing. Another bonus: they use black cloth napkins. One other thing I noticed is it felt a tad drafty in there. Otherwise, the ambience is spot-on. Classy but also no-frills which I appreciate.

The late great Anthony Bourdain once said "Bad food is made without pride, by cooks who have no pride, and no love. Bad food is made by chefs who are indifferent, or who are trying to be everything to everybody, who are trying to please everyone... Bad food is fake food... food that shows fear and lack of confidence in people's ability to discern or to make decisions about their lives." I've never felt this so hard until I was stuck here for an event picked by a family member that apparently doesn't leave a 2 mile radius or know any better. After trying to get accustomed to a stark, grey square interior with too many tables too close to everyone else for maximum uncomfortable vibes, we were served unseasoned bland food that had a definitive aftertaste of metal which tells me it's kept in pots on a steam table all day. Rude waitstaff, forgotten entrees, 1/2 the seafood menu was 86'ed... the saddest $4 salads I've ever seen in my life (entree choices are pasta OR a salad so we ordered salads on the side for $4, and got wilted lettuce with 2 white (!!!) onion rings, 2 cherry tomatoes and one pitted olive no dressing like are you serious) and ZERO help for serious food allergies in our party. Two people (I was one of them unfortunately) had to go without anything except said sad salads because they knew the allergens were in their dishes and didn't want to end up in the ER. It's BYOB which always sucks but they didn't even have or offer ice buckets for the 8 bottles of wine we had to bring. So that was cool. The amount of high reviews are astonishing to me I can only imagine that this is the type of place that locals who DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT GOOD FOOD TASTES LIKE will rave about yet they won't drive into the city proper to experience authentic tasteful, seasoned cuisine. To be fair at one point I would of rather have gone to olive garden because this was the worst overpriced garbage I've been served in years.

We stumbled across this restaurant, and we couldn't be any happier that we did. It's just a small/quaint Italian joint. They serve up some great home cooked italian food. They have a huge selection on their menu (definitely don't plan to go alone.) Anything you order though - you just can't go wrong.

Sorrento's is a casual BYOB with a diverse menu and very good food. They offer the best Southern Italian cuisine in the vicinity according to my taste buds. Maria's Ristorante in nearby Roxborough and From the Boot in Lafayette Hill provide good meals, as well, with a different rendition on most recipes. My favorites at Sorrento's include shrimp scampi, eggplant or chicken parm, spaghetti with Bolognese or white clam sauce, veal and chicken dishes, and scallops scampi. Their garlicky spinach is wonderful. Prices are appropriate based on quality and quantity. This family-operated restaurant provides meals without the fanfare, coziness or glitter of Fifth Avenue dining, so focus on the food and you will not be disappointed. Lastly, lots of private parking awaits you.

Been going there for twenty or so years. A great typical Italian restaurant where all of the staff are related and they're all attentive, friendly and jovial people. The food is tasty, I recommend the ravioli or the saltimboca.

Everyone has their opinion, however for me, the only real and honest review is from Anastasia L 12/29/22. Was there to celebrate with family for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival I thought"this must be amazing food because the room was packed.." I won't go into the wait staff , the wait time for pasta dishes( between 30-40 mintes, just the food. I could not see my pasta for the mound of sauce thrown on top of it; and I am a sauce gal. Ordered clam sauce and there were no visible clams. I was able to find 3 tiny pieces in the mound of thick bland redness that I could not call sauce . The one thing i enjoyed was the special time with my family and birthday person which is the most important thing of all. oh, and the bread! Unfortunately the food was inedible. I fail to uderstand the other positive reviews ??

Adorable BYOB, food took some time to arrive. The staff was friendly but the pasta was bland. Portion sizes were large. Bread was great!
