Ol Boys Soul Food

Welp, tried this restaurant today. The Turkey wings were flavorful tender on the inside slight crisp on the outside. The Mac n cheese was good. The sweet potatoes were good. The location is in west Philadelphia. Corner spot. Great for locals. The neighborhood is sketchy. Overall, I won't be traveling 25 minutes for this platter but if I'm ever in the neighborhood then yes. The portions are ok as well. 3 platters for $50.00. Not bad for the price the portions could be a bit more.

My best friend Traveled from New Jersey to pay me a visit for a day. She kept repeating she wanted some good soul food. I expressed to her, we don't have too many decent soul food restaurants in the West Philly area. She found Ol Boys Soul Food, and I gave her my opinion even showed her my previous rating here on Yelp. She decided to give them a try regardless, and placed a order through UberEats. She got the Turkey wing Platter, and to her surprise (not mines) her food was horrible. I see they serve smaller portions, Maybe a 2 scoops of mac & cheese, 2 scoops of Cabbage, and 2 small turkey wings. Turkey wings were not fully cooked !!! I thought the Turkey Wing tips were soggy & uncooked, until she turned them over !!! That is f__king ridiculous !!! Are you trying to make customers sick by not properly handling and/or cooking the food ?? Hopefully you guys do better for the New Year (2024)... 2 Customer Down !!!

INSULT TO TASTEBUDS!! This was the WORST soul food I've ever had. The food tasted HORRIBLE and platters were small for the ridiculously high price!!!

I am eating cabbage, short ribs. Sweet potatoes, green beans. Chicken wings. I am enjoying all six and loving each bite.

horrible!!!!! i'm very disappointed since this is somewhere i have been eating from for years when i don't feel like cooking. the bbq wings were burnt and the fish was overcooked. it did not stop there, once i took a better look at the wings when taking the photos so i can send to uber eats, there was actually a long strand of hair sitting, this place has simply declined

Everything food quality, taste of food. Either too salty or no taste. Flavor, what flavor. When ordering they don't give you what you asked for. Spent $80 3 out of 4 platters were a mess. One had a single piece of fish. The other had 2 pieces of fish. All platters had cabbage which we didn't order. As well as it was super salty. Mac and cheese was ok, but burnt. Fish was soggy. Candied yams. Not candied yams. Mashed sweet potatoes with sugar. I try to support different businesses, but when you serve me crap for the money I spend. I'm just appalled.

I ordered from here on a Sunday around 645pm online. Online ordering was fine no issues. Food was done earlier than estimated which was great! Upon arrival it was easy to find, and pick up was outside. Which I don't mind. I love that they ID when picking up the food! Prices are amazing for the amount of food we received. Hubby and I got the fried whiting fish dinner with Mac & cheese and yams. Food quality is definitely a 10! It was clean and seasoned well. Fish fried crispy! Mac and cheese 8/10. I wish there was more noodles for the amount of cheese. Some would definitely disagree with m and it's fair! A little too much garlic for me but overall I would order mac again for sure. Sweet potatoes were great. Not overly sweet but had layers and they didn't cook them to mashed potatoes. They still had form and a soft bite through! Nice! All in all as a newbie to Philly, I'd definitely be back and encourage others to try them out.
