"Yaasssss back at Little Delicious and I came with cash this time and did NOT waste my time asking for fish. Pro tip: NEVER ask for things on the menu when you walk in a homegrown Caribbean spot past 3-4pm. Simply ask, "Hey what ya'll got left?" And they will gladly tell you. Today I got two chicken patties and some ginger juice. It aint good ginger juice unless it burns your throat and you struggle a bit. Then you know you're in for a treat. My patties were delicious and it'll be my go to when I feel like eating out. No "fast food" for me all 2024!"
"Passing through the area and noticed Grill 'N' Dutchy. Went inside to place a to-go order. Checked out their menu, which looks good and is reasonably priced.Ordered a medium-sized platter of jerk wings (with jerk sauce on top), with my two sides being macaroni & cheese and candied yams. Also, ordered a side of fried dumplings. Grabbed a DG cream soda too. Food was on point and official! I highly enjoyed everything."

It was hot ... the steam was rushing off the blades of grass along the campus of the University of Pennsylvania enveloping those walking Philadelphia's streets with another layer of unneeded moisture. It was high noon, the curbsides littered with aluminum shelters and colorful delivery trucks providing pedestrians with a global array of aromas. My chosen mission, after bidding a friend with a temporary residency at U of Penn's hospital adieu, was the discovery of a quality lunch of distinction from amidst the array of options. No, I did not desire a lengthy searching process but after smelling, staring and snooping along the streets I discovered the right choice on a very hot day!An extensive menu with small and large plate options greeted me as did a clear path to the truck's open window. Ahh tropical heat ... I needed the islands JERK was the answer and as my head inched its way into the window I could smell mouth watering delights. My "man" in the truck was losing pounds by the moment in the heat but his greeting was warm. The conversation between strangers friendly and he smiled at my choices ... JERK chicken, which he affirmed by saying "you are going to really like it," some sweet yams and greens.I watched him scoop my very large lunch (I ordered small) into the styro box and it looked oh so good! The money exchange didn't hurt my wallet either. It was ungodly hot outside so to enjoy my meal I returned to the confines of the hospital's air conditioned lobby to indulge! He was right ... I really loved the bite of the jerk seasonings that had me licking my fingers in public! The greens and yam combo was awesome! I wanted more even though this delicious lunch filled me (And, there was no way I was walking back on those hot sweaty streets!).So where is Star #5? Well, as others have noted the chicken was a bit tough and warm not hot. A curse related to food truck cooking where the food awaits the diner versus being freshly prepared in the kitchen. Minor complaint because next time I am on Philly's hot streets at lunch time in close proximity to food truck heaven I will be looking for another visit at this kitchen on four wheels!"
"Very Tasty. Very Tasty Indeed. Just stopped by this place to grab lunch with my coworker after passing it a few times on my way to the post office. I ordered a small jerk chicken platter with rice and greens with a beef patty on the side for $10. The greens were very good with just enough seasoning. The rice was tasty as well but certainly needed the sauce on it. The jerk was also very good too. It was a bit more dry then I would have liked so definitely make sure you go heavy on the sauce. The employee working at the counter was very nice and the portion size was great for the price. Overall this was a good experience and I'll certainly consider this place for takeout again."
"Great food! Service was a bit slow but I didn't know I could call ahead. So I just went in. Cash only as well. I got the jerk chicken platter and it was good and it was A LOT of food for the money so good value. The jerk chicken is great. Cooked to perfection and smells soooooooo good. Mac and cheese is extra like guac! The mac wasn't that good but probably gpt the bottom of the barrel so I would try it again."
"My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our experience at Ocho Rios Resturant in East Passyunk! We stopped in here for lunch today and were happy we did because it was fantastic! Authentic Jamaican food and that truly exceeded my expectations! I am not one to have Jamaican food too too often but after dining here I will certainly be back and I can't wait to try more! My boyfriend ordered the chicken soup which was extremely tasty. It had a tiny kick to it which was perfect. The carrots were sliced so thinly and the broth / chicken had great flavor. I ordered the garlic shrimp. Our waiter told me it was his favorite thing on the menu and he wasn't wrong! I cleaned the plate! The garlicky sauce was so so tasty and the rice / beans paired perfectly with it! Also you get two sides and lots of options with a main course. I chose the rice / beans and the Mac and cheese. Whatever you do get the Mac and cheese! So so good. Like wow, truly worth its own wow. Please go try it! Upon entering we were greeted by the most friendly and kind employee who is the nephew of the owner! He was so helpful with explaining the menu to us and accommodating throughout the meal. We even had the opportunity to meet the owner and she was so appreciative of us coming in. The vibes in this resturant are excellent, extremely vibey with awesome artwork on the walls. They have outdoor seating now that it's getting warmer out which is an great perk as well. Overall we loved our experience and would highly recommend this resturant to anyone! My boyfriend and I will definitely be back and this resturant will be added to our date night rotation!"
"Super good Jamaican food. We ordered through Ubereats and was not disappointed. The owner is super nice and will call you if they don't have what you ordered so that you can choose your substitution. We got curry goat, friend chicken, oxtail and beef Patties. Haven't been to the actual restaurant itself yet but I've already ordered 2 more times since. I'm definitely a repeat customer, you should absolutely try this spot if you're looking for some good Carribean food!"
"This was between 3 and 4 stars. The oxtails and rice were very good. The greens and cabbage needed a little seasoning but were well cooked- I just added some hot sauce. I wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese or the sweet potatoes. Something tasted too sweet or fake sweet in the sweet potatoes. Overall it did hit the spot because I wanted oxtails all day."
"Just moved to the area and this was one of the places we'd looked up ahead of time to try. Glad we did because it was delicious! We got two large platters ($10 each) and ordered additional sides to try. Our favorite things were:Curry Chicken = very goodCollard Greens = Amazing. As good as any I've ever had without being overly salty. Mac N Cheese = fantastic. What you always hope mac will be.The Corn Pudding = the GREATEST sweet cornbread style dish I've ever had. I just finished it a few minutes ago and I wish I had more even though I'm full. Will definitely be back."
"I hadn't eaten a coconut breeze in quite some time, maybe in over 2 years but I had some friends over and decided to get takeout from there and get their family meal. The family meal could feed around 6 to 8 people and only costed around 45 bucks which was a great deal. They made some major interior upgrades to coconut breeze and even took credit and debit. something I didn't do the last time I ate there. I remember the food being a bit more aggressive on the spices but I wasn't mad. I understand they have to change with The Times in appeal to a larger audience so its all good. We order the jerk chicken sweet potatoes, collard greens, rice and beans, and macaroni and cheese. The only thing I wished was that the rice and beans came with more beans. The jerk sauce they put on the side to go on top of the jerk chicken was super super super good. The sauce was spicy but had a little kick of sweet balance it out. I hope they bottle the sauce someone day as I would definitely just buy that itself."
"I must say that I was skeptical about this place but it exceeded my expectations. On a Friday We pull up to a shabby building in upper Darby and while the outside looks sketchy, the inside is wayyyy better. They have a separate entrance for the restaurant portion and then a second entrance for the lounge. Dinner was great. Def well seasoned and tasty and portions were good. I def couldn't eat it all as I got full fast. The waitress was also nice. The lounge itself exceeded my expectations. You walk into a club atmosphere and people are literally dancing nonstop to afrobeats. It was soo fun. Did I mention the drinks were STRONG!? Yasss. They seemingly had bottle service but not sure how that works. The DJ had the crowd rocking. Def plan to go back on a different night to see if the vibe is the same"
"Food was slamming! Had enough to eat for two days. I forgot to take pictures(who am I kidding? I ate it too fast lol) but when I come back I definitely will remember. I didn't actually get this food myself this time. My boyfriend did. Boy did he did great!"

Little Delicious is just as the name implies, except I wouldn't describe the portions as "little" in the slightest. I came here with some colleagues for lunch on a weekday and it absolutely hit the spot. The interior is a nice space where you order food at the counter in the back and either take food to go or sit in the dining booths. The jerk chicken (wet-style) was expertly cooked and had great flavor. My favorite part of the dish was the amazing sides. We tried the rice & beans, plantains, and collard greens - all were fantastic, especially the plantains. The small platter size with a side is plenty of food for lunch and I'll probably be having some for dinner as well. I saw they had Mac & Cheese on the menu but looks like they've only got it on Fridays and weekends so we'll have to come back. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Really wonderful people.

I like most of the things they make. But they never have every thing on the menu. I wanted ackee and saltfish with boiled dumplings and festival. They only had boiled banana and fried dumplings.

Haven't been the Gigi's in a while but I definitely love the fried whiting and potato salad from here! I'll have to pay them another visit in the near future; but I definitely used to come here all the time! I recommend calling ahead of time because the wait times a little bit of a hassle, but needless to say the food speaks volumes!

Stopped in and grabbed a few platters wanted some Jamaican food. I ordered two stewed chicken and one jerk platter. I wanted some Mac and cheese but there was a 30 minute wait for that. The food had potential although, the chicken was a little dry and not enough sauce on it for my liking. I still would like to try other options.

Strolling down Passyunk Ave with my son and came across this Jamaican restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. He tried a beef patty first and said it was the best he's ever had, where we came back for 2 more patties along with a jerk chicken platter and another order thereafter. I also got the Jamaican jerk wings and oxtail stew. It took about 10-20 minutes for each order- was told everything is made from scratch.Although everything tasted decent, they used the SAME sauce for the chicken, oxtail stew, and dip, which made all the food taste the same after a while. The sauce had a kick to it, meats were tender, but nothing really stood out to me except for the beef patty- tasted like the ones I had in Jamaica. The rice & beans were bland and the mac & cheese had cinnamon on top, so it was sweet and salty. Service was good and the staff were very friendly, especially the gentleman who took my order 3 times. The restaurant had NO AC except for a rotating fan the day I went. Maybe it was broken? Imagine dining in during 90° weather- I took my orders to go. Not the best nor most authentic, but worth trying. We'll definitely be back again the next time we're in philly for more beef patties & jerk chicken.

Where I wanted to order takeout from canceled my order. I found oxtail international by searching for another location that would deliver. This is my 1st time ordering with them. The portion size is decent but I would have liked more rice. Jerk chicken is not too spicy. It did not come with any sauce/gravy. I would try this restaurant again !

Just found this place through a delivery service and it's been great both times I ordered. Pepper steak, jerk chicken, and curry goat came with tons of meat and huge portions of sides. The sweet potatoes are flavored weirdly, but I loved the cabbage, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and basically every bite. Good price compared to other Jamaican restaurants in the city!
Visit Restaurant Page"***This review is for Togo order***A family member went here and had a salmon salad and jerk chicken salad.I'm greedy so while they were eating is I asked to taste it.OMG it was delicious, so I knew I had to come here and get my own.First of all it's made fresh to order even down to the green peppers and tomatoes. The jerk chicken was great you can choose your dressing along with the jerk sauce. Next time I will call ahead lesson learned.I will definitely be back to order."
"Was searching for a Jamaican spot and came across this place by googling online.I Never been here before so I was worried it wouldn't be good but boy was I wrong this place is delicious. This is a hidden gem I would definitely go back. I had the fried chicken sweet potatoes Mac and cheese and festival and my hubby had the jerk chicken white rice with peas and the Mac and cheese. This was the best Jamaican food I had. I would definitely go back again."
"The music made me want to dance !! I went with my cousin on a Sunday, and the 90's reggae as jumping ! I loved it. The food was great, I got jerk wings as an appetizer, Yum! And Salmon, rice and plantains for my entree. So good !!! We sat at the bar and Calvin (I believe) was very attentive and had a great Jamaican accent We ended our meal with a beautiful piece of cake for my cousin's birthday I will definitely return Oh btwPrices were very reasonable Food delicious Drinks were good Trust me, go there!"
"Came here with a party of 20 and they sat us upstairs. Service was fast and efficient with drinks, apps, and entrees.Mixto - great way to try a lot of different things. Empanadas we're nice but not the flakey kindGuacamole - pretty standardOctopus - thinly sliced a charred. Was not expecting the potatoSeafood mofongo - flavor was nice and I liked the texture of the mofongo. Seafood was a bit over cooked though and some of my mussels were bad"
"It's really more of a 3.5 but I'm giving them 4 off the strength.Jerk chicken: 4Rice and beans: 3Yams: 4.5Mac and cheese: 2.5Customer service and price: 5It's clutch to have this spot in the neighborhood. The people who work here are nicer than a lot of places. Generous portion sizes. Some of the sides are better than others but most importantly for me the jerk chicken is perfectly tender and saucy. They only had a large platter size available for the oxtail and I wasn't completely hungry so I'm saving that for next time. That could be a game changer. Haaa. We shall see."
"My husband brought me here for a dinner sate before a comedy show in Philadelphia. Everything was amazing. We were running late so we preordered and within 20 mins of arriving our food came. Waiters and waitresses were on point. The restaurant was large and plenty of seats. Sunday night dinner and it was packed. Loved it."
"The potato ball with gravy is my new fave snack! Ordering here can get a little hectic if there are a lot of people, but they are patient and make sure to get you your order. Fried chicken was super crispy and flavorful, and the beef over rice was a good portion for the price (very inexpensive). Try anything and learn what you prefer, but start with the chicken and rice platter and work your way from there."
"Was looking for some good woman owned restaurants to try and found this spot. Really good Caribbean food! The cornbread is pretty pricey at $6 for one square but at least it tasted good. Usually I have to add butter but this one had the perfect combo of butter and honey already. The wings were good but could've been cooked a little longer. The Rasta pasta was absolutely delicious. I've never had Rasta pasta before but I will definitely order it again. I had the one with chicken but I'm definitely gonna try shrimp next because it was so good."
"Decided to give this place a try as a few friends mentioned they had a good time here. Much smaller then I anticipated but once inside the ambiance was very nice and welcoming. My daughter and I started with a few coconut mojito's and a few appetizers. We ordered the calamari it was a little fishy but good. We had yucca Fritas which was pleasantly delicious. We also had the plantain chips and guacamole, had plenty chips an ran out of guacamole. For our entrees I ordered the skirt steak with chimmichurri and salad. My daughter ordered the salmon with beans and rice with salad. The salad was refresh and came with a house made vinegarette that was delicious. It was a good time and good vibes, they also have hookah available!"
"One of the google review's starts off "Lord have Mercy," and I must agree. What a phenomenal food experience. It is the epitome of hole in the wall. I thought I was accidentally going into the kitchen but it was the very small waiting room. We ordered our food ahead on the phone - easy to order, people were nice on the phone. Food was ready in 25min. Menu isn't huge which I always see as a good sign. We got the mac and cheese. Fantastic. Nice and toasted on the top which gave it a crispness and delicious and not overly salty or fatty throughout. We had the jerked chicken soul plate. Amazing. The chicken, the rice, the yams, the collards...all just perfect. The chicken had a great kick too it and lots of nice charred bits but also lots of juicy tender bits. Yams were naturally sweet and complemented the chicken great. I don't usually like collards because of the bitterness but these were great. Price was beyond reasonable for the quality and quantity of food (2 of us ordered one soul plate and one side of mac and cheese and it lasted for dinner for both of us and lunch for one person). Our friend got the jerked chicken cheesesteak and gave it 10/10. They also cater. Check em out immediately."
"I can't believe this is my first time having a sit-down dinner at this place when I'm literally always next door to it every single day lol Stopped in to get a meal right during happy hour and oh my goodness was that second floor jumping as if there was a birthday party going on but that was just a normal Thursday!;I ordered some boneless jerk chicken breast with rice. The mill came with some complimentary cabbage and plantains which was cool. I wish the serving of cabbage was more than it was but the chicken and rice was hefty so I'm not complaining too much...but eh.I was surprised how spicy the chicken was considering the place having a real modern vibe to it. Usually the modern vibe places water the food down a bit. The server was pretty kind and didn't mind explaining the menu. As good as the food was, the drink was really good. My rum punch definitely punched home with the rum lol I can't wait! Try their happy hour one day because I love a good day party with a live DJ and happy hour specials. I did catch the happy hour special for my drink and the $7 price point was definitely worth it."
"Tracked down the truck outside of Temple hospital and it was so worth the journey. That jerk chicken cheesesteak changed my outlook on cheesesteaks and on jerk chicken. The chicken was so flavorful, so juicy and tender, and mixed with that cheese and bread...what a phenomenal combination."
"I have been searching recently for some delicious soul fried fish! I asked around and I heard try GiGi's more than once! I was on a mission for fish..but once I got there and smelled all the different yummy foods! Again--focus-so the order area is a small space, but it has approximately 5-7 chairs and one table! The menu items are listed and there were many options! I ordered the whiting fish; beans and rice with Mac and cheese! The Mac and Cheese was not cheesy and easily forgettable! The fish was exactly what I was seeking--seasoned well outer crunch and flaky inside! The prices were reasonable-I will be back for sure!"
"I would smell the food from the lid spot as soon as I turned the corner in their aisle. One Quick Look at the menu and I decided on oxtails with cabbage and rice. Wait time was pretty brief. There were 2 customers ahead of me and so at lost 5-7 minutes wait time for our bag. All of the seating was mobbed with people so we ate it back in our room. First impression, the oxtails were super tender and the sauce was flavorful. At some point it was just easier to eat the oxtail with my hands. There's really no easy way lol. The cabbage was delicious as a side...tender with a bit of a crunch which I liked. Prices are decent for the portion they give you."
"My Caribbean Hunt continues! I think this place used to be a 7 11, at least the building looks like it used to be one lol. With that being said, parking wasn't harsh. As I walk in, the restaurant looks clean and pretty modern. I would say Ron's is probably the best looking Caribbean restaurant in the NE Philly's area. Service wasn't top notch but not ignorant either. Compared to The Flavor Spot, Ron's Caribbean cuisines' service is definitely so much better. I stick to my usual favorite, Jerk Chicken. I always get it with Rice & Peas and cabbage. I also ask the staff to pour oxtail's gravy on my rice and cabbage. I'm so glad that I asked, it adds extra kick to both of my sides. Also order the Jerk sauce on the side and cornbread. Originally I want to order coco bread but Ron's only carries Corn bread. Nothing special about that as I've had better corn bread elsewhere. This is the most white meat chicken I've ever see in a Jerk Chicken platter lol. If you like white meat, then definitely give Ron's of rising sun avenue a try. You won't regret it as it is season from the meats to the bones. Ron's also offers desserts too, such as cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate cake, red velvet cake etc........."
"You get a ton of food. You can't finish the medium meal in one sitting. Not to mention it's $12. You can't shake a stick at that. I got the BBQ jerk chicken, rice and sweet potatoes. The sides are heavy too. The meal must've weighed a couple pounds. Food was pretty good. You pick a main and then you get 3 sides. They are all in metal serving containers so they can serve them right away. That being said it took about 20-25 minutes for me to get my meal but my friend got his immediately. That was strange. I got a seamoss shake too which was delicious. So if you're looking for bang for your buck than you're in luck!"
"I finally got to try Carib Grill after seeing how busy it is when I drive for Doordash. I LOVE boiled dumplings so I ordered some soup and they told me it came with dumplings. Love it. I found out two things today 1. Chicken foot soup is quite possibly the best soup I've ever had in my life. It's peppery and so so flavorful. 100 times better than chicken noodle, which I never look forward to eating. 2. Carib Grill is definitely a place I'm going back to for more- I gotta try the brown stew fish."
""Yah Mon, me come soon" Is what I say to eating at Hot Pot Cuisine. New to the Germantown area, Hot Pot is a very shiny, spic and span clean spot on the avenue. The service is very good and polite, but I can't help but think everyone with a Jamaican accent is polite. Just hearing that musical accent eases me. The counter person asked for my order and I chose the Jerk Chicken with Cabbage and Plantains. There was another customer who was probably a regular named Les who ordered the same thing. She asked me what part of the chicken I wanted, breast or leg? I replied "the breast", she asked the same question to Les and he replied "I'll take a breast and a leg, when a mon wakes up in the morning with a leg in his hand and a breast in his mouth he's a lucky mon" Can't argue with him-can you? The food was tasty and authentic with just the right amount of seasoning. I can't hardly wait to try the Curry Goat and the Oxtail stew. I can already tell that this is going to be a regular pit stop for this mon."
"So we were chilling on my front porch today because it was beautiful out. All that yip-yappin' and jaw-jackin' got us hungry. Earlier we were talking about really wanting Caribbean food today. There a place a stones throw from me that I like but I was feeling super comfy and unwilling to walk the 20 minute round trip. So we jumped on Grubhub. This place was one of the top so we both got the jerk chicken meal. $19 each. The other place I like round the way is like $12 so I was like Ugg this kinda sucks. When I got it and tried it though I was not upset. This food was great. The jerk chicken has a little sweetness to its BBQ which is my jam. The rice and beans were a little spicy. Great together. The Mac and cheese was awesome. The food is two meals worth. Also they delivered super quick and had their own car! Damn this place must be making bucks. So now I don't think I'll do the cheap place again."
"This place never disappoints. I recommend calling the food in just to minimize the weight because they get busy! But they definitely move quickly! The food is amazing. From the fried fish to the jerk chicken and oxtails, the beef patties to the rice and peas and everything in between...nothing has been bad. It's not a big place so I recommend getting your food to go. The portions are a decent size too and prices are fair. This is definitely my go to spot for Jamaican food!"
"Found myself near the airport and craving something besides fast food, so thought I'd give Top Taste a try. The neighborhood is not too fancy but I felt safe during my daytime visit. Don't think they get a lot of non-local customers though--as I entered, the owner scowled and asked "Whatcha looking for?" I replied, "Uh, Jerk chicken?" She then broke out in a huge smile and called over a guy behind the counter. Maybe she thought I was mistakenly looking for a convenience store? Anyway, I ordered a "small" jerk chicken plate with rice and peas and cabbage. It was huge! They asked if I wanted extra gravy on top and I enthusiastically said yes. Got a huge serving that I ate for lunch and carried me through the rest of the day. Chicken was tender and fell off the bone, the rice was fresh and delicious, and the cabbage was tasty. It had a good kick but wasn't too spicy. I will definitely return."
"I got the veggie wrap with cabbage because they ran out of callalloo and it was soooooo good. I've never had a wrap with plantain in it. Great vegetarian/vegan option."
"This is a bar/restaurant that offers authentic jamaican cuisine. The food is pretty good--hearty portions and flavorful. I ordered the medium jerk chicken with rice and beans and cabbage for my sides. My mom ordered a medium stewed chicken with the same sides; and since she couldn't decide between getting chicken or fish, she ordered a side of fish which tasted good also. The grand total was $25. Because of the large portions, I'll have leftovers for dinner!! As far as the environment, it very much resembles a jamaican restaurant with the dimmed lighting, decor, and reggae music playing with a good mix of r&b and oldies. The staff is friendly and seem to share a family-like closeness. Every year around Thanksgiving, they host a customer appreciation night where you can dine in and and enjoy dinner for free. I really think this is a nice gesture and makes me feel good patronising them. It may seem a little sketchy from the outside, but it is nice and safe on the inside! There's plenty places to park, which is also a plus."
