Sara G. "Spice 28 in Philadelphia is a great Szechuan spot serving up traditional Asian flavors. Very bold flavors and spicy. The Szechuan fish filets here are a must-try, and they deliver exactly what I was looking for--delicious, mouth-numbing spice to the tender, flaky fish. Great presentation. I also got rice and Tom yum soup. Modern design on the ambiance. Simple and minimal. The service is fast and the water stays flowing given all the spice."

Natalie C. "Xiandu is a mix of Thai and Indian cuisine, a rare setup you see in the city. They have high tops and bar seating on the first floor (street level) with tons of seating up the set of stairs. The quality of the food and speed it comes out is great, with the only recommendation of sticking to "typical" dishes of that cuisine you're looking for. For example, the shrimp Thai green curry is FANTASTIC. The Dan Dan noodles... not a much (but still good don't get me wrong). The dumplings were very well made with tons of filling which I feel isn't always the case and a great dipping sauce. Great for big parties (there were a number of 8+ groups) that were easily accommodated. Reasonably priced, good food, will be back."

After hearing some good things about Grandma's, we came here. If you don't read this full review, read this - my brother, a Thailand resident for many years, completely satisfied his Thai food craving a Grandma's. The food was simply phenomenal and authentic. The service was prompt and quick. Our waiter was able to confidently answer my brother's questions about certain menu options, including that the Thai basil dish was indeed made with real Thai basil. The restaurant was quaint and pleasant to dine in. With an expansive menu and tons of options, if you're looking for real delicious, authentic Thai food, Grandma's should be your first stop in Philly! Looking forward to coming back here again."

There are so many restaurants packed down the strip of manayunk and it was really hard to choose. What made this choice easy was that they had the most food options my daughter would like on the menu lol walking in the atmosphere was so beautiful and service was immediately welcoming and let us know the kitchen was closing within 30 minutes but we could take our time ordering. I ordered Thai tea along with some pad Thai because I can't help but want to try these two items everywhere I go. We also ordered the fresh spring rolls. My favorite thing was definitely the pad thai which was made traditional with the cilantro and sprinkles of peanuts everywhere which I love. Some places don't use onion sprouts but I really love that this place does. My daughter really loved her chicken skewers which is the biggest win. I can't wait to intentionally dine here again."

Flavorful, sweet, and creamy with perfectly slurpable vegetables and tender beef. Drunken noodle? Perfect amount of heat for me with perfectly oiled up noodles, chicken, and veg. Overall, a perfect order perfectly executed.I haven't tried much of the takeout Thai/Laos cuisine in Philly (save the big names like Kalaya and Grandma's) but it'll be hard to switch up from Ratchada after really enjoying the price and selection. They have a perfect menu and I look forward to trying the curry puffs and the duck on my next order. I don't live near here so it's unlikely I'll stop into the restaurant itself, but will be sure to post an update in the event I do! Thanks for the existing and the amazing cuisine, Ratchada!"

Majority of the people were actually dining alone. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We picked spice level 3 for all dishes and she let us know she could always bring out extra spice if we want it hotter. We ordered the papaya salad, chicken pad Thai and tofu green curry to share. Everything was delicious!Papaya salad was nice and refreshing. Pretty presentation and a nice palette cleanser. The pad Thai was tasty, but was not the best I ever had. I'd still recommend it, but next time I will try a different noodle dish. Green curry was flavorful and a bit more liquidy than others. Great flavors and very filling.Byo spot with great prices. Maybe the beef also could use a little seasoning to taste. But the pad thai sauce and noodles was good. The sticky rice sauce was delicious, the mango (it probably wasn't in season) was not the best but the sauce and the sticky rice made up for it. Service was quick and attentive, and the place is clean and popping. Plenty of parking."

"After trying out this spot based on a Thai transplant's recommendation, I must say that Erawan is one of the best Thai restaurants in Philly. Our table ordered a few menu items and we were delighted by all the dishes. I was impressed that they offer chives cake as an appetizer here, since it's a street food that isn't that easy to find outside of Thailand. If you're a fan of fried chicken like me, you'll be thrilled to hear that they also offer Hat Yai chicken (gai tod hat yai). For the avid fans of seafood, their stir fried shrimps with curry sauce (goong pad pong karee) is also a dish that's highly recommendable. Our group couldn't stop eating even after we were full since we were THAT hooked.Erawan's price point may be a bit high, but their satisfyingly delicious food makes it worth it. However, I'm gonna give a general synopsis of Smile Cafe as just being "okay". Read below. Con: The Thai Beef Salad was decent. Maybe a little bland for heat seekers like myself, but it serves its purpose. However, the Spring Rolls tasted like they were fried in slightly reused oil. And this seems like a consistent trend after a couple visits. Bottom Line: Perhaps an abandonment of the fried fare and a request for extra spicy on the dish may bump the rating up by a star. Until then, it's just adequate food."

The tempura came on skewers with lobster, shrimp, broccoli, carrot, sweet potato, zucchini and a dip of melted gorgonzola. The Peking duck came with steamed tortillas and had hoisin, scallions, cucumbers and plum sauce. The duck was quite delicious. The tempura was good and the dip was good as well. For dinner we both had the Hoban yak seafood that included lobster tail, scallops, shrimp and white fish with season vegetables and a ginger garlic truffle butter soy sauce. It was excellent. The waitress was quite exceptional, noticing that the table was uneven and placing something to level it as well as cleaning the table in between dishes. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. We both really enjoyed the meal and would love to go back again."

Recently I was in for their Lunch Special, which was a first for me. It turns out they have an excellent special with good pricing, and dishes that come with soup and rice. We also added a Papaya Salad, asking for it not too spicy. It was a wonderful lunch, and I'll have to remember to get over for that again! However, the Panang Curry was to die for - I had no issue slurping the entirety of my meal. My colleagues ordered different noodle dishes, and the portions were huge! We shared an order of the Golden Triangles, which were okay - unremarkable, but tofu often is (sorry!!) Ordered the Thai Iced Tea for drinks which was great. It was sweet but not overly sweet like that drink tends to be.For entrees, we got the Massaman Curry with Chicken, Beef Pad Thai, and Beef Pad See Ew. All were really good. I think the Massaman Curry was definitely the best dish out of the three we got. All of them were portioned pretty well and were tasty.Just some minor service hiccups though. We actually ordered the Shrimp Pad See Ew, we received the Beef one instead. The person who ordered it ate it halfway before bringing that fact up so we decided to just leave it as is. They did charge us for the Shrimp one in the bill but they did change it to the Beef one when we brought it to our server's attention. We needed more rice to go with the Massaman Curry as it ran out pretty quickly, they might want to consider putting more rice with their curry dishes. We also had a little trouble getting the server's attention to get more rice; even though there was only one other table seated at the time. Minor hiccups aside, it was a good place to eat and I would come back."

Portions are big enough that you can get more bang for your buck by taking the leftovers for lunch tomorrow! The roti canai justifiably gets attention, too. As a bread fiend, the chewy flavorful hunk that came rolled up in foil was a dream come true. The potato-chicken dipping soup it came with was fairly spicy. I'm a wuss, so it was probably hotter than I would like if it was just the soup alone, but the roti made it manageable. That's what google is for. And lucky for us, Thai Orchid was the next closest Thai spot. It's pretty small inside, nothing super glamorous, but we were welcomed and seated quickly. I was planning on going for drunken noodles (my favorite form of noodley goodness) but another wide rice noodled dish caught my eye, and I chose the Evil jungle instead. My. Lawd. Thank the heavens that I did. A light curry version of drunken noodles if you will. It was incredible. The noodles perfectly chewy, the veggies still with a satisfying crisp, AND the combo of chicken and shrimp cooked perfectly. I don't think I'll ever go back. Also their Thai iced tea, which our waiter generously split into two smaller glasses, was perfectly balanced with the condensed milk (sometimes there's just too much of it). My friends tofu jungle version also turned out delicious. However she felt it was a little too salty. The chunks of tofu are huge! but I do prefer mine a smidge firmer. Both plates were huge as well, I took about half of mine home for dinner later. I only docked a star because our young waiter kind of seemed annoyed with our presence haha. Wasn't exactly rude, just came off as "whatever" about everything. Maybe a smile would've helped. Anyways. Definitely recommend. Especially if you're just going to consider takeout."
