Our date night was exceptionally fun this week having had dinner at OM. We are always greeted with such a warm welcome from the moment we walk in the door right through to the very last minute. I'm a creature of habit so this week I went with my favorite dish, the chicken piccata...doused in a lemon butter sauce with capers and served over fresh asparagus, this is a go to for me! My husband enjoyed the pasta, as he usually does but this night was particularly tasty! We settled on the lemon torte for dessert, the perfect ending to a perfect meal and just the right choice I think for a hot summer night!

Was impressed when I first entered the restaurant.. very nice decor and very pleasant staff.. We stopped at the bar for a quick drink and appetizers.. The arancini and meatballs were very good.We were seated in the dining room for dinner at a very nice table.. Unfortunately the dinner was not as impressive. I ordered the Piccata di Pollo with broccolini.. The chicken was dry and overcooked and the sauce was bland with very little flavor. The brocollini was undercooked. My friend's Ravioli di Maize had a strong fish smell and the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe tasted more like cheesy spaghetti. The focaccia was delicious but surprisingly sweet--definitely more cake than bread! Will try again and next time I will order the branzino.. Hopefully will have a little better experience.

Italian is something I generally have to be in the mood for as it is not one of my favorite cuisines and usually even when I am in the mood for it, I end up disappointed. Fortunately, that was not the case at Osteria Mattone. I had this place bookmarked since we moved to Roswell a few months ago, so hubby and I recently decided to try it out for our date night. These are my findings based on that one experience: PROS: * Lovely ambiance. We sat inside because we thought it might rain, but I loved how the outside patio dining area looked. It is in front of the restaurant and has a romantic but classy vibe. As long as the weather cooperates, we will probably sit there on our next visit. The inside also has a classy and romantic feel to it. * Excellent food and drink. First, we enjoyed the complimentary focaccia bread, which was soft and delicious. We ordered a bottle of wine that was smooth and tasty. For food, we started with the Salumi E Formaggi, which was essentially a charcuterie board, and it did not disappoint. It had a nice assortment of fresh meats and cheeses along with some vegetables, crispy breadsticks, and bread. My husband also ordered the pea soup, which was served cold with a vibrant green color and a tasty cream on top. I am not a soup or pea fan, but I had a taste and it was very good, especially with the cream. We also ordered and shared a margherita pizza. The crust had the perfect amount of crisp to it. While it did not reheat well since I was missing that perfect crust next day, it was divine when eaten fresh. We finished our dinner date with a shared slice of tiramisu. I am rather picky when it comes to tiramisu and personally think my husband makes the best I've ever had, but the tiramisu from Osteria Mattone gave my husband's version some healthy competition. They had the genius idea to sprinkle it with coffee beans, which complemented the light, airy, and flavorful tiramisu beautifully. My taste buds approved of every single thing I tried here and this is not an easy feat, especially for Italian food. * Excellent service. I absolutely love a server who has mastered the art of being attentive and available without being intrusive. Our server (I believe her name was Lou but it escapes me now) was phenomenal. She struck the perfect balance of meeting our needs without hovering. She had a strong knowledge of the menu and made great recommendations when asked. Most importantly to me, she never had to be asked for a refill as she was attentive to the water level in our glasses and quickly slipped in and out to top them off. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I need a refill of whatever I am drinking and the server is nowhere to be found. The service was great and I hope we get the same server when we come again. CONS:* Parking problems. The biggest complaint about our experience at Osteria Mattone is the parking situation. Only valet was available at the restaurant itself and I hate using valet service, so we had to park a few blocks away and walk to the restaurant. If you don't mind valet, then I guess this is an okay option, but I don't like handing my car over to some random guy and generally refuse to use valet if I can avoid it, so it was annoying not really having any other option. * Price. This isn't a real con in my book because I understand you get what you pay for when it comes to consistent quality in taste and service. I don't mind paying a premium to dine at an establishment that makes me feel like I got my money's worth and Osteria Mattone certainly achieved that. However, it is a con in that our budget won't support us adding it to our weekly rotation of restaurants. We will definitely be back, but most likely more for special celebrations or the occasional date night splurge than our regular weekly outings. If you have not tried Osteria Mattone and are thinking about it, I would say to go for it since I am confident that you will enjoy it as much as we did. Don't skip the tiramisu!

Osteria Mattone is a real standout from the many restaurants on Canton Street. The food is exquisite and their fresh bread is like manna from heaven. Easy check in with hostess who lead us to a high top table, as we did not have reservations. Service was quick and prompt. The Ambiance of the place is good, but looks like a converted house giving it an overall homey feel.We dined during restaurant week and took advantage of the fixed price $35 (2024 price) meal. This included Polpette (meatballs), Tagiloline Bolognese, and Caramellato desert. All were good with Tagiloline Bolognese being my favorite. Other choices are available. Large portion and had leftovers too. We also looked at the normal menu which was slightly more expensive but still reasonable for the value.Valet parking is available. Parking around here can be a hassle, but we parked at the large free lot off of Green Street, which is short stroll to Osteria Mattone. Also dined at their sister restaurant Table and Main, see separate review.

I feel like it's tough to find good/delicious Italian restaurants these days, but luckily, I know of a few. One of my favorites is in my old stomping grounds of Roswell at @osteriamattone This isn't your everyday Italian joint as their menu, flavors, and yes, their price, separate them from other locations. I would call this an upscale Italian restaurant with many delicious favorites like their meatballs or ravioli, so this is a special occasion stop for me, and boy, does it deliver every time. As you could expect, their staff is nothing but 1st class, making you feel nice and special Roswell parking and I have never gotten along... I'm bitter that Alpharetta grew up and did all that they did to solve for parking while Roswell just did nothing in the past 15 years to remedy the situation BUT if you can find parking behind Osteria, great. I haven't stopped by during the NICE weather season, but the outside patio area always looks so nice. 5 stars all across in my humble opinion #rolieats #myfavoritefood #italianfood #roswell #osteria

I have been back to Osteria Mattone two more times, and our experience has been just as great as the first. We most recently were there for Roswell restaurant week, during what they offered three course meal for $35, and it was a great value and experience! I can't say enough how delicious the arancini is! The staff are always professional, and it always has a cozy environment.

The food - FABULOUS! Service - AMAZING! Setting - surprisingly (good thing for me) not only focused on adult dining. We visited Osteria Mattone on a Friday evening for a date night. I was expecting it to be dark and intimate and was pleasantly surprised that while it's definitely upscale, it's a place that I would love to bring the kiddo. The bread was delicious. I don't normally feast on heavy carbs, but YUMMM! We had the peach and burrata cheese appetizer, which went well with the bread. For dinner, I had the bass and my husband had a stuffed pasta (agnolotti). They were presented well and tasted even better. For dessert we shared an espresso gelato, which was light and a perfect finish for the meal. I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back and bring the kiddo too bc I know she's going to be in heaven with the menu options. On a side note - weather wasn't favorable for us, but they have a beautiful patio with gazebo covering. If it's not blazing hot or raining, I would have asked to be seated out there.

Food was okay. Pizza bland. Spaghetti and meatballs was delicious. Service was mediocre at best considering the prices. Slow, confusing. Brought the wrong drinks. Have experienced better in the past.
