One Barrel American Bistro & Wine Bar

My wife and I attended this restaurant as a night out from my kids. We had received a good recommendation from this restaurant, which is why we drove a bit to try it out. Ambiance:The restaurant was lively but not much to the overall ambiance. It feels overall like an underwhelming environment Service:The server was nice, but not super attentive. She did have a lot of responsibilities between hostess, bartender and waitress.Food:We started with the bread cheese, which was tasty. My wife and I both enjoyed it. Things went downhill from there unfortunately. My wife ordered the risotto and I ordered the crab stuffed sole. Both were terrible. The risotto was watery, under seasoned l, and overall boring. The shrimp that we ordered with it were overcooked and didn't have a fleck of salt or pepper on them. The sole was also vastly under seasoned with a dribble of sauce on it. It had a stack of overcooked vegetables that weren't worth eating. My wife ordered the pot de creme, which I didn't try because I was so grossed out by the other food. She said it was decent but ironically had too much salt on it.Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Sad to say the last few times have been disappointing. . Actually, many times.I went on a Sunday, Yelp hours showed they were open; they changed the hours, didn't update Yelp; closed Sundays...I had been there on a Sunday so shocked when it was closed.Went on a Saturday afternoon, they were closed for a private event.Started calling anytime I wanted to go there to be sure they were open.Went on a Saturday, looking forward to the salmon entree, no salmon.Went last Saturday, 5/11/24, ordered a simple drink, tequila & Gran Marnier. Bartender looked everywhere, no Gran Marnier. Ordered a glass of cheap peach sparkling wine. Ordered 2 entrees with my friend. Wanted to box up my leftovers. Bartender took my plates & boxed up for leftovers for me. When I got home I saw he only boxed up the larger pieces of steak & salmon, and NOT the entire salad (side dish) that came with the meal. I would have preferred to box up my leftovers, so I actually got them all. (Why would anyone toss a side dish, especially an untouched side dish?)Went last night, 5/16. Arrived at 8:40. Kitchen had already closed! Ok, well, thought we'd have drinks then go somewhere else to eat. I wanted tequila & gran marnier....5 days since I had been there...still no gran marnier. Ok, they could have bought a bottle at the grocery store a block away! Ok, wanted to use my last Groupon. Had tequila on the rocks. I don't understand, but the bartender/waiter took my order...kept running around the place (only one there), made my drink. Finally asked my friend if she wanted anything. I won't be going back.Sad, I really liked the place. Took 4 different friends there over the past 6/7 months. The friend I was with last night said she's stopped going there...only went with me because I wanted to go.We drank our drinks quickly & went to an Italian place, 5 minute drive. HAPPY to serve us!

Really nice place for a date night! The server was very nice, attentive and made great recommendations. I loved the artichoke jalapeño dip! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the stuffed peppers but everything else was delicious!! I would come back here again!

They're big on delicious food and an extensive list of nice affordable wines, cocktails and beers. Interested in maybe a flight of wines called Good Wine Hunting? It's a mix of red, white and a rosè. The family are movie buffs hence the reference to movies through out the wine list.I took a peek at their social calendar and every Wednesday they have a wine event .We had a great night of tasting some of their newer dishes.We started with :Tuna Carpaccio, Crispy Korean Bbq Riblets, Crispy Calamari, Scallops, Maryland Crab Cake and Jalapeño Artichoke Dip. ( these are available during HH daily too)Main Dishes:Pork Chop, Pan seared trout, Chicken Schitzel, Spring Risotto, Grilled Pork chop, New York Strip with twice-baked potatoes, House Made Tagliatelle ( fresh made daily).Desserts:Key Lime Pie, Pot De Creme .Looking for the best Happy Hour in Englewood? This was our second time here and we were quite pleased. It was a birthday party of 6 and everything was quite good. The steaks were good but smaller in size. The bread was an up charge, which costs their review a star.

Rachael was our server & was absolutely lovely! Super sweet service & even better food, will definitely be coming back here in the near future Ordered some great food & the vibe was great, dimmed lighting & super romantic, no parking lot so be prepared to pay for the meter or walk if you find a place to park for free. Super nice rubber seating & table to be comfy at, partner also enjoyed his dinner (trout) and the Jack & coke was made perfectly!

We had the jalapeño artichoke dip as an appetizer and the bone in ribeye for dinner, which came with a loaf of bread and homemade butter and pickled mustard seeds. Everything was fabulous! We highly recommend any DISH as we have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we have tried here.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed one barrel yet! I've been coming here for over a year now and it's one of my faves! The wine is so divine and the food is to die for. The quality and flavors are exquisite. My go to is their charcuterie board and their Escalarta red blend. The ambiance has a fancy feel to it but casual dress is completely accepted. The service is always top notch and the waiters are attentive. I highly recommend a visit here if you're craving a nice glass of wine.

The happy hour here is great! Nice, rotating selection on wines and creative appetizers. The owner puts a lot of thought into the menu and the seasonal changes are fresh and exciting. We love sitting at the bar and chatting with the friendly staff. The environment is classy but also laid back.

We had lunch here, first time visit. Really GREAT food.. the Italian sandwich was way above average, burger was cooked & prepared perfectly. Salads are crisp & delicious. Jamie gave fab service as well. Highly recommended. Unlike a lot of restaurants these days, the music wasn't so loud that we couldn't talk across the table. It was tasteful music, and subtle.
