Old South Bar-B-Q

What a find! The owners are so kind!! The food was abundant and delicious! I love this restaurant has been family run for generations. We stopped in with our son who works in Smyrna. They have a great Smokey flavor to their pork. We will definitely be back.

Be ready to wait a while... although the staff is very friendly it took about 45 minutes to get served on a Tuesday.I ordered the pork ribs and unfortunately they were sold out by 11:45 am (they open at 11:00) I was shocked how few they must have ready. I switched it up and got the sliced beef plate with potato salad and green beans. The meat was dry and flavorless (beef was white in color), the sauce was meh, for $25+ I was expecting more at of a place with an economy class atmosphere.No qualms with the staff at all, they were great. Shout out to the sweet tea, that was the best thing there. I can't say it is anything special from my experience. Won't be trying it again.

Old school bbq joint - that reminds me of Old Hickory House back when it was good! Everything we dined on was absolutely delicious. If you like good southern barbecue in a comfortable homey spot, give this place a try.

This place is wonderful. You feel like you have stepped back in time. The food is the best BBQ around. And it is all served with love and a hug!

I had a craving for ribs and the place that I wanted to go to was closed. I'm not sure if I went to this spot on an off day or something but the food that I ordered was not good. I ordered a slab of ribs, chili and macaroni bites. The ribs weren't tender and they just didn't have an authentic barbecue taste. The chili wasn't good either, but it's hard for me to explain. It's a small portion that they give you, and I thought I'd be able to finish it, but I just couldn't. I didn't eat the macaroni bites, but my husband said they were actually good. The staff was extremely nice,but I'm sure I won't return.

Had the chopped pork beans hush puppies in Brunswick stew was outstanding. Sauces fantastic.

5/5 Service - Server was extremely kind and checked in on us, gave us good recommendations 4/5 Options - Not many options for sides if you don't want to eat something fried 4/5 Food - As a southern girl who grew up eating barbecue all over the US, I would say the ribs were mediocre, yes they were a bit fall off the bone, but they were not very meaty and sometimes were tough to chew. I was not too impressed by the ribs. It was just fine. 5/5 Atmosphere - It felt like we were right at home, the servers all knew each of the customers individually. Very homey and good location.

I've been going to olde south Bar-B-Q since I was a child, even have my photos on the wall there. However, the last two times I've gone to eat there the service is awful. There is a young man that comes to your table and grabs your drinks, which he does so with attitude. He didn't mind refilling the table next to ours drinks every other 6/8minutes but for me and my family? Nope. Not once. We had been here for an hour at this point when I had to say "excuse me" and grab his attention to which I asked for a sweet tea TO GO. Then I said "make it two sweet teas to go please, one for me and my dad." And he comes back with two empty cups. I say "oh I asked for a tea to go?" He said "can't you just pour the rest of your tea in these cups?" KEEP IN MIND we had been there for over an hour with no refills so all I had left was ice and about a sip left of watered down sweet tea and he wanted me to just dump what was left into the to go cup and leave. I said "well can I not get fresh tea to go? Like I don't want to pour what's left into the cup unless you top it off?" TO WHICH he just pointed at my empty cup and back at the To cup and said "no just pour what's left into this cup." To which I then got nasty and went off. He treated me like I was some peasant and didn't want to give me a refill. We've had him before and so has my sister and everytime he's always so disrespectful. He was just the guy who starts table off with drinks because our actual waitress was super sweet but she didn't give us refills at all and even acted off when my husband asked for a refill on WATER. I don't know what's going on here, but this is just sad.

The food was absolutely delicious especially the stew and the chocolate cobbler with ice cream. The service was amazing they were always coming back for drinks and were very fast. Definitely a place I recommend
