"Came here on Valentine's Day to grab a quick dinner. This is in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. We wanted to do take out, but we kept calling for over 20 mins and we couldn't get through so we decided to just go in. It was crazy busy for take out orders and they were running over 20-30 mins behind. We were seated right away, but our appetizer did take over 45 mins to be served and our rolls took over an hour. The servers were nice and I was trying to be understanding that they were running behind and already had some really rude customers that had screamed at them. Chicken Karaage - 5/5 - the chicken was good and crispy when it came out and I really enjoyed the dipping sauce.Philadelphia Roll - 4/5 - the portions were pretty big considered to other placesCalifornia Deluxe Roll - 4/5 - pretty basic #1 Roll - 4/5 - it had a lot of flavor and tasted really fresh."

"I love sushi, but it's expensive, so I don't go out often to enjoy it. We arrived here about thirty minutes before they closed. The restaurant was empty, so we were seated right away. As with many sushi restaurants, the menu was extensive and it was difficult to decide what to get. We settled on the spicy salmon roll, Rainbow roll, and soft shell crab appetizer - nothing fancy.They brought out some complimentary miso soup and it was too salty to finish, so we took a few sips and set it aside. They brought out the spicy salmon roll and rainbow roll before the appetizer, which I guess was ok, but I would have preferred it the other way around. Anyway, the fish was mediocre - nothing special or memorable. It got the job done. The soft-shell crab appetizer was overcooked. They must have fried it for too long to the point where the crab was chewy. This appetizer was so greasy it was difficult to finish. They made no secret that they were in a rush to close the restaurant, giving me my check and reminding me they were closing the doors in five minutes. This is my second time to this restaurant, and I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless I was in the area and they were one of the only places open. Like I said, the food wasn't bad, but it also didn't taste that fresh either compared to other sushi restaurants I've been to across the Bay Area. Quality was right in the middle. I would recommend people try this place, but certainly don't go out of your way for it."

"Location, service, and food all great. I feel like this place is a hidden gem in Oakland for some bomb sushi and very reasonable prices for the Bay Area. Anytime anybody wants sushi, I take them here and have gotten always had a good time. They also do all you can drink sake which is fun but be ready to drink cuz they really be filling up the sake. I like that it's near lake Merritt and in a walking area so u can take a nice walk after eating so much sushi instead of just exiting into a parking lot and getting in your car. Place is great and a GO-TO for good sushi and vibes"

"Went to Kaki Sushi with my Son. Always good food. I ordered the Pork Katsu. My son ordered the Sashimi Deluxe dinner. And we split a Spicy Tuna and Spider roll.Started with Miso soup and green salad. I think it's pretty hard to screw up miso soup. And salad was a salad. My tonkatsu was very moist and came with a small container of tonkatsu sauce on the side with 3 slices of Takuan (pickled daikon). Tonkatsu also came with a small bowl of rice. My son's sashimi looked fresh. A good amount of 4 types of fish (Saba, Ahi, Sake, and Hamachi). The spicy tuna roll was 6 pieces. And I think the spider roll had 5 pieces. Little smaller portions than at other places but tasty. Service was good. Servers are always very nice and courteous. Food came out promptly. Was kinda surprised that my Tonkatsu came out before my son's sashimi dinner."

Very close to Piedmont Ave. and Kaiser Oakland, Judoku is the perfect spot to dine outdoors with friends, a date, or just playing catch-up with a girlfriend. The staff is so accommodating and friendly, the interior inviting, but the outdoor area..unlike any other sushi spot in the East Bay with fun art, instagrammable backdrops, and just a cool essence. Well done!The menu is massive ~ we ordered the Kakiage Tempura and Bento Boxes for an afternoon lunch and omg what a deal! You can choose 2 or 3 items, so naturally we chose 3 ~ the avocado roll, teriyaki chicken, and pork gyoza accompanied by miso soup, edamame, and rice. Add a salad for a couple bucks if you're dining in! The Kakiage Tempura is so unique, crispy, and one of the most delicious appetizers in the East Bay..I said it! Delicate fried squares of shrimp, sweet potato, yellow onion, shitake and other root veggies combined into one bite. Glorious! And the value of what you can get in the bento box has me coming back for more. I only did the avocado roll this time, but can't wait to try more of their specialty rolls soon. Delicious and clean pieces of teriyaki meat, and super yummy gyoza, not too greasy at all. If you're in the area, coming from an appointment, or looking for a unique yet vibrant change to your typical sushi experience, Judoku hits the mark every time."

"This place was so hit and miss. I ordered a bento with CA Roll, Mixed Tempura and Salmon Sashimi. My wife ordered the Chicken Sukiyaki and a Rainbow Roll for us to share. The bento came with miso soup which was at room temperature. Not even warm or have any steam coming from the bowl. The rainbow roll was good but the slicing was weird. You can tell that their knife may not be sharp enough. The Sukiyaki was on the sweet side. They forgot to include the fish cake and tofu as stated on the menu but no biggie. The bento was what really pisses me off. The tempura that came with the bento was 90% breading. Barely any shrimp. The batter was also very thick and looked different from the picture. Other than that service was nice. They refilled our water and tea frequently."

Quick and easy process: ordered on my phone and it was ready in the 15-20 min it took for me to drive here.I went with the chicken teriyaki + tempura + gyoza for $15. Maybe it looked extra generous because it was takeout and therefore given in 3 separate boxes. Still, it felt like a lot of food. Lots of chicken, big scoop of rice, and a salad in one box. 6 pcs tempura (4 veggie, 2 shrimp) in the next. And 3 pcs gyoza in the last box. Flavor wise, it was prob as good as any other sushi spot. I've had better crispier tempura at other places. The gyoza filling was tasty, though I'll say the sauce it came with didn't add much. Overall, though, still a good meal."

Just an excellent glass of wine, served at the perfect temperature (slightly chilled, but not cold).Service was appropriate. We were there for almost three hours, and never felt rushed.The meal started with some pickled items that opened my palate. Up first was the "mini" chirashi bowl. It was loaded with a wide variety of fish and seafood (including a whole prawn and some octopus). For $21, methinks you might wanna check it out.Two grilled skewers, one rib-eye and one duck+leeks (kamo negi). I rarely eat duck (as I would be eating alone; like poor, neglected lamb, so few of my companions join me in exploring menus as they refuse to deviate from the beef-chicken-prawn trichotomy) but dang this was a great way to enjoy duck. The leeks added color, texture, and tons of flavor.The veritable coup de grâce was the salmon collar or "samonkara." "After having Teppanyaki on a cruise ship, I decided I wanted to find a restaurant at home where I could have my birthday dinner. A friend recommended this restaurant, and I'm glad she did. Our food was very good! I had salmon, my older son had filet mignon, and my younger son had shrimp. We all agreed the fried rice was the best we'd had anywhere. The grilled veggies were very tasty also. I didn't care for the salad dressing, but really liked the mushroom soup. Our chef wasn't very entertaining and not engaging, so that was a bummer. The chef we had on the cruise ship was an amazing entertainer and a tough act to follow.I admit I was thrown off by the 20% service charge, but I've heard that some restaurants are doing that nowadays. This restaurant is someplace I would only go for special occasions so if costs a little extra I'm ok with it as long as the service and food are good. I'm sure we'll be back because both my sons now want their birthday dinners here as well."

We both commented on how thick the sashimi slices were. I love wasabi and ginger, and I liked how generous they were with those servings too. The oyster app is sooo flavorful, you have to try it when you go! I loved itOverall, the ambience felt peaceful with warm indoor light and sunlight streaming in through the windows. The music wasn't too loud, making it easy to have a relaxing conversation. The service was quick, attentive, and nice. They offered us free ice cream at the end of our meal which we appreciated. My friend got the green tea ice cream and I got black sesame. :)Areas of improvement: I would've preferred if the oyster app came out before the entree, but it came out shortly after so it wasn't a huge deal. Also, the bathroom could be much cleaner. The floor was wet and had toilet paper roll strewn about. But overall it was a positive experience and I recommend it! There's a big parking lot so it was easy to find a spot, and if you plan to take BART, it's about a 20min walk. I drove 45mins to get here and would definitely do it again! Good for a casual lunch or date night."

You can call ahead for reservations. There is a parking lot behind the building if you cannot find street parking. Kids meals are only $10, and comes with soup and ice cream."
