Oh I Tasted & I did See the goodness!! LOL If ya know ya know!I've got to say I absolutely love this place. Soon as you walk in the door you're greeted with friendly faces, clean atmosphere and just a welcoming vibe. Light music playing, but not overpowering that you can't hear the person next to you talking. Just pick something on the menu and you won't be disappointed. The sweet tea is very tasty. I usually don't get sweet tea at restraunts because its like syrup. But this spot has it perfect. Sweet and fresh tasting to cleanse your palate as you get ready for that next bite of soul food goodness. What stands out to me is O'Taste knows how to season their food. Season meaning spices & herbs, etc. NOT overload of salt which many places tend to do IMHO.I really enjoyed the smothered pork chop, turkey wings and can't wait to try their oxtails. Ummm, yeah I almost fell asleep at my desk and I hardly ate 1/3 of the plate. The portions are just like soul food...more than enough "runneth over" :-)The sides are yummy too. Mac n cheese, cabbage, okra. I don't eat yams but my sis loves theirs & she's a picky eater. Their prices are good and never had an issue with service. I can't wait to try more of their items. If you're looking for a soul food option in the area look no more. Great option for soul food on this side of town. Yelp on my friends!

I decided to try YELP today for somewhere quick to eat near my job. I came across this little gym. Based on the reviews I decided to check it out and I'm so glad that I did. As soon as I walked in the door, I was warmly greeted by the young lady behind the counter. She welcome me and suggested some of their top selling dishes. She then offered this a amazing peach and mango Kool-Aid that will bless your socks off. Due to my time constraint so I decided to go with the burger and I was so full because it was so good. Y'all, this burger is served on hot buttery Texas toast with seasoned fries and has a sauce that made my soul happy. The service was fast. The food was hot and fresh. The only suggestion that I might have going forward with that my burger was cooked a little well, but it was so amazing. I tore it up!!!You owe it to yourself to check them out. I'm looking forward to going back again.

I wanted smothered pork chops. They definitely did not disappoint. Juicy fried and then smothered in gravy!

The food isn't the worst but not good enough to keep coming back. I got the fish with sweet potatoes and mac & cheese. The sweet potatoes were not sweet at all and drowned in cinnamon. The corn bread was bland and definitely a few days old. I like sweet flavorful cornbread. Mac and cheese are was acceptable. encourage you guys to kick it up a notch if you want to stay in business.

First Off I've been looking for a Good Soul Food Spot on the Northside for a lil minute besides Ester. Look Here the Them Yams Sweet and Off the Mofo chain the Mac and Cheese so damn good the cabbage had a great taste to it.. I will Go back and this time I'm Trying the Smothered Turkey Wings..This Spot is BETTER than Smookies Kitchen located 5630 N Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, TX 77041

This cajun/soul food restaurant restaurant has been opened for about 6 weeks now and is located in a very large strip center on the Hwy. 290 frontage road with plenty of parking available in front. Inside, it's a counter service eatery with a nice upscale decor and vibe going with old handwritten recipes displayed on the walls and enjoyable music playing in the background. It has daily lunch specials and serves brunch on the weekend.My first visit was for soulful food and I ordered the smothered pork chops with side dishes of mashed potatoes and fried okra for $17. I added to that their mango peach ice tea and they also offer bottled Pepsi soft drinks. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and served in a styrofoam container with plastic utensils. The chops (2) were covered with gravy and onions on a bed of rice and more of the same gravy and with the sides represented a lot of food. I could see I wasn't going home hungry! The chops were big and tasty along with both sides. It was a good meal but honestly I wasn't a fan of the light brown gravy. To me, taste wise it lacked and I wanted to like it. Perhaps it's just me and you will differ. Also that peach mango tea was too sweet for my taste and had a thicker consistency than regular brewed tea that I didn't like. I gave this meal a 3 score all things considered Including the drink.My next visit was to try the shrimp sandwich with seasoned fries for $14. This time they had brewed unsweetened ice tea thank goodness. About 10 minutes later the food arrived. The sandwich sat on square toasted sandwich bread with 7-8 large fried shrimp along with the lettuce, tomato, pickles and a tasty sauce. I was impressed with the size and taste of this sandwich. It was very good and had plenty of shrimp to eat. I would call it a massive sandwich. Also the seasoned fries were very good to eat too. When I think of a shrimp sandwich, I will probably be thinking of this one (5).The staff here is friendly and I will return.

I very seldom post reviews and when I do it's always to give a shout out for good service and/or food. However, this restaurant does not deserve to even be open. The service was absolutely atrocious! The woman taking our order could not have been more rude. If I could give it less than one star I would.

The food was hella gooood! KOOLAID was good too lol. This place definitely deserves more cause they 10/10

I tried this place for the first time today after doing a search on Google Maps for soul food near me.Pros: -The food was piping hot when I got it! I loved that it was so fresh. I ate at the restaurant, so it was extra hot. Definitely a big plus.-The menu looks so good, I have to go back and try some other things on it. I got the fried chicken with 2 sides (and I got an extra side just to try it). I chose the candied yams, mac & cheese, and red beans & rice. As a whole, it was solid but not spectacular in my opinion. The chicken skin was seasoned well, and like I said, it was hot and fresh, but the actual chicken tasted a bit bland with not much seasoning. The mac & cheese tastes better than it looks in my opinion. It looks just like regular boiled noodles, but it tastes cheesy enough. The yams were good, and the red beans & rice was solid, but not enough flavor to me.Cons:-The food was fresh because it took forever for them to make it! I waited about 40 minutes on my food. To be fair, the restaurant does have a sign that says they cook everything fresh, so I knew that was going to happen. But still, it was a long wait!- I mentioned the cons for food taste already, so I won't belabor that point.All in all, it is definitely much more good than bad. But the cons meant I couldn't give it a 5 star rating in good conscience. But it is still a good restaurant and I highly suggest you go and try it out as well!

it was soooo bomb the service was great and i ordered a burger added bacon and cheese was cooked perfectly and don't let me get started in the mac n cheese also sooo bomb 10/10 would eat again.
