Our usual Cajun spot closed. It had been some time since we'd gotten our Cajun fix. We found this spot based on Yelp reviews, which did not disappoint. It's a very cute establishment, that has a cozy and unassuming, neighborhood vibe. The food was delicious. We tried their sampler which had a nice variety of four of their dishes. Save room for desert though as the blueberry cake was killer. What local gem of a restaurant this place is. We were impressed with our first visit. It won't be our last!

Yes, I did and yes, I do! I love this place. I went here as a celebratory dinner and will absolutely be back. They have bowl crawfish on the weekends for $20 a pound. I am blown away and amazed by this authentic Cajun Creole Denver gem.The moment I walked in I felt like I was back home in Louisiana. The vibe here is family and laid-back good times. Henry, the owner was very welcoming and his staff was genuinely interested in our experience. I absolutely loved the decor and the family style touches around the restaurant, including Henry's mother's gumbo recipe. We decided not to order an appetizer, but just jump right in and I got the trio of étouffée, gumbo and red beans and rice. For a little bit more I was able to add some jambalaya, which is the whole reason I wanted to go in the first place. Cory had the fried shrimp Poboy with french fries on the side. They have authentic sauces from Louisiana to go with Your meal. That was a super nice touch.Nothing was too spicy, but everything had perfect flavor. You could spice it up more with the sauces on the table if you'd like. And then we found out that it was one dollar wings night on Thursdays. The bartender gave us a great sampling of different sauces that they have to come with the wings. I love their barbecue sauce and their wing sauce.Everything was amazing and tasted like home. However, the gumbo was definitely my favorite. It had this rich smoky flavor and the sausage and the chicken was tender and not falling apart. It was amazing in every aspect. My second favorite would've had to have been the Poboy. The shrimp was perfectly fried and crispy on the outside and tender, plump shrimp on the inside with the perfect crispiness on the French bread. That bread is too live for! So yes, I highly recommend this spot. And you will probably see me there. Let the good times roll!

Nola Voodoo Tavern offers a lively bar vibe packed into a cozy space, with an authentic New Orleans ambiance. Despite its compact size, the space has a welcoming atmosphere perfect for intimate gatherings or nights out. Our server, though new, was prompt with greetings and had attentive service, adding to the overall positive experience. The jambalaya and étouffée fries (appetizer) stole the show with their bold flavors and seasonings, showcasing a traditional Creole cuisine. However, the gumbo fell short of expectations, it honestly tasted like green chili with sausage and rice. I definitely will be back to try the po boys! Nola Voodoo Tavern undoubtedly holds promise as a go-to spot for those craving a taste of New Orleans in the heart of Denver!

Yum and Fun! ! Went to check out the new location across the street from the original spot. Such a great atmosphere, like you're walking in to meet all your friends! The owner, Henry, makes you feel like you're right at home and his crew is very attentive. This visit I had the Surf & Turf Po'Boy, it was fresh and delicious! The toasted bun was perfect! Paired it with a Copper Mule, mmm. Others in my group had the sampler Platter and the Catfish, there were no leftovers! It's a great place to meet up with friends, watch a game or play pool, and just relax and enjoy yourselves. If you don't have friends, go anyway and I guarantee you'll make some!

If you're in search of awesome cajun food & an atmosphere that's so welcome that you feel at home, then do yourself a favor & check out Nola Voodoo Tavern!! It's located at York & Bruce Randolph with decent street parking. The tavern has about 8 bar seats & 10ish tables, so it's small & gets packed bc they're cranking out such good food & drinks! The owner, Henry, is from New Orleans, and he really puts his heart & soul into this spot- and shares is family recipes with our community. The cajun/creole food is to die for. Try the sampler so you can taste the gumbo, crawfish etouffee, and red beans & rice... you can also add jambalaya for $3 and try it too! I looooove Vivian's gumbo, it's his mom's recipe & the roux is so hearty... it comes without shellfish but just make sure to ask to add shrimp! The jambalaya is so savory, not at all dry. The crawfish etouffee is perfect too... a good balance of flavor in each dish & none are too salty. Oh, and the hushpuppies... they're bomb! They have a little kick of spice or jalapeño, not sure which, but they are fantastic. My stepmom loved the shrimp po'boy, I can't wait to try it when I come back. They have good happy hour specials too, and omg the hurricanes are so good & will get the job done ;) they have good drink specials too so if you don't make it for happy hour, you'll still find good deals on drinks. Krissy the bartender is awesome! It's also a Saints bar so get here early on game days, the place gets packed & is so full of good energy! They even do $2 football squares, several giveaways & free shots with each Saints touchdown!! All in all, Nola Voodoo Tavern has easily become one of my favorite spots in Denver for the best cajun food, good drinks & a great vibe :) it won't let you down! Thanks Henry for being so welcoming & sharing your family recipes with us!! They do catering & are on GrubHub/DoorDash so no reason to not try them out :)

Yum!! The sampler is such a genius idea for indecisive people like me. I tend to gravitate towards gumbo or jambalaya, but because of the sampler, I discovered that I enjoyed their etouffee the most! We also went ham on getting other things to try including cheese bread, po boy, and pasta. Everything was great! Needless to say, we had leftovers to take home which stayed yummy!

This is a long overdue review. I have eaten at VooDoo many times and have several standards that I like to get. The Trio Sampler is good for the first time; I like the red beans and rice and the jambalaya and now order those individually. I love the oyster poor boy and the fried green tomatoes. Most of all, I love the vibe. The drinks are good, and their signature drinks remind me of being in New Orleans. The French 75 will make you order an Uber home. I like sitting at the bar and watching Henry Batiste and the bartender make their signature drinks. Nola VooDoo Tavern is a special gem in the city.
