Had a lovely brunch at Nofo! The food was great, but truly the atmosphere was what sold me.The place used to be a piggly wiggly and they have old photos of what it looked like which brings a feeling of nostalgia and I love the cohesive theme. There's even a shop upstairs. Our server Lara was beyond amazing and the fact she's been here for 14+ years and the servers are family orientated, adds to how special this place is.I had the Bloody Mary and the fried tomato sandwich with scrambled eggs and it was delicious. (Sandwich had a bit of a kick, I'm not the biggest spice person, but it was doable)

Service was wonderful, was seated immediately though this place is quite popular. Great variety of beverages including alcoholic and coffee beverages. I ordered shrimp and grits and orange and candied pecan salad, yes portions for 2 though am alone but might as well try a couple as a newbie. Ambiance is really wusint, actually bordering mythical. The 2 story cafe dining area is an homage to the pig (pork sausages in blown glass chandelier hang as a focal point in the center of the room). Food is just mediocre. The shrimp and grits was swimming in very greasy lard, a tad too salty for my taste. The orange pecan salad was good although the pickled onion coukd have been pickled bit longer. Pecan pieces seemed to be store bought rather than prepped from scratch. Sprinkling of goat cheese was so minimal...where's the cheese?

I love their shrimp and grits the best‼The gift shop is a throw back to things you'd see when I was a kid back in the late fifties, early sixties and a lot of fun to shop. I LOVE their chocolate peanut butter cups too.

Great Southern food, friendly, efficient service in a historic building that once housed a Piggly Wiggly grocery store! Great frozen foods to go as well. Lovely shop with unique items, some from local artists and vendors, even a great variety of chocolates by the piece!

Great Sunday Brunch service despite being packed. Got the breakfast special and carafe of mimosas. Ate both biscuits only because they were delicious. Dined outside on a warm day with umbrella over table. No doubt we will return to enjoy again.

Met the college kids in Raleigh for brunch on a Saturday. We easily made a reservation for 4 the evening before and actually got seated early. Dani was our server and as super nice as anyone can be. We love how open this space is with lots of windows. There is street parking, a small Nofo only lot and the Wells a Fargo lot when they aren't open. Upstairs is a quirky gift store, selling everything from fresh ground coffee, frozen food to environmentally friendly underwater. The real show stealer is the food! Coffee okay, Bloody Mary I would not get again. Brunch, however was great. One breakfast burrito (ordered by the Nofo regular and former hostess), French Toast (highly recommend!), fried chicken and eggs with biscuit and gravy (could have used more seasoning in the chicken breading and more gravy on the biscuit), and the fried green tomato sandwich with the sweet potato fries (4 out of 5 stars for that combo).

NOFO @ the Pig is in Raleigh's Five Points area. The restaurant and gift shop was part of what was a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in the 1950s to 1990s. The rest of the grocery store was where Lily's Pizza and Third Place Coffee shop are now. I loved how so many artifacts were on display in the restaurant and gift shop. NOFO has a small parking lot for its customers. Make sure to enter from Fairview as it is one way. The restaurant is on the first level and the gift shop is on the second although it has some seats for dining. You enter the restaurant from the Glenwood side. The Gift Shop entrance is from the Fairview side. The restaurant just has a few tables and they were spread out well. We were seated at a round table so that made conversations easier between everyone and the smaller side made it quieter inside. There are outside tables available as well.I ordered the orange and candy pecan salad and it was made without onions for me. I did add shrimp and was happy with the portion. I loved the salad as it all went together well.I went with the apple pie for dessert. I think it got microwaved as the pie was super hot in spots. Other than that the pie was great with actual apples and not a sugary apple filing.NOFO will be in the regular rotation.

One of two go to restaurants for my wife and I in Raleigh. We love this place! Is in the basement area of a converted Piggly Wiggly. Food is outstanding, reasonably priced, and the service is always great. The biggest bonus, is the fact that the upstairs area is a retail space featuring North Carolina products. Everything about this place is awesome!

Food is very good, Restaurant is fun, service is hit or miss. There is one really big misconnect. I took a friend for her birthday there for lunch. I told her how wonderful it was and I was so excited to take her and I told the hostess it was her birthday.as we were standing to leave our waitress came out and said she heard it was someone's birthday and she presented us with a little plastic bowl with a candle in it! It was very rude. It would be better to not say anything than to bring a bowl with a candle in it.

Great place when I was an intern at The Governor's Crime Commission for the victims advocate grants VOCA/VAWA we all went out to lunch there. Great place for birthday celebrations that was what we did and the food was wonderful! Highly recommended and you know if the GCC eats there it's good since they help out everyone that's why I did the site visits to all the programs all over NC. Totally great people and great internship for my degree in criminal justice from ECU!!
