Nice Mon Restaurant

It really is tough to find bad Caribbean food and I certainly didn't find it here. Hole in the wall in Stone Mountain. Just finished a couple of laps around the mountain and was starving. Stopped in for some to go food. The lady who greeted me was friendly but not much help. Asked for a chicken recommendation (brown stew, stewed, jerk, or curry) and she wouldn't even tell me which was most popular or which she preferred, so I just picked one at random and got the brown stew chicken. Loved it. Tons of flavor, slightly spicy, with delicious rice and peas and coleslaw. I got a small and note for you all-a small is plenty for a good meal. Would have preferred more chicken but I did get a small (there was still a lot of rice though). Regardless, I didn't leave a crumb. Doesn't look like much but worth a stop.

Nice, never truer words have been said. Searching for Caribbean food since the spot I traveled too wasn't open as scheduled. I called up nice Mon 7:30pm and asked "hey when do you close" answer " now,but what would you like and how far away are you" Ordered 2 large oxtail plates and 1 large curry goat. Drove up 10 minutes later and the nicest lady standing at the door waiting to lock up. She asked me to he'll bring in her plants into the restaurant, how could I say no. I did my good deed for the day came inside to grab my plates, asked if they had pates. She gave me some for free. They had sweet potato pudding and I order some. When we finally got to sit down and enjoy our meals. The oxtail was cooked perfectly not tough. Seasoned well great rich sauce nice color. The goat was not full of bones and definitely tender seasoned not as spicy as I love my goat but, That's what pepper sauces are for. The veggie was a mix of cabbage and greens.The rice and peas hmm, I'm not a rice person so when I say rice is good it has to be. I loved their rice and peas. Nice flavor shelly not hard moist coconut milk rich.

In town on Vacay, was recommended this place by a few people. They are located in Decatur...I was in midtown and they were closing in a hour. I called to place an order for pickup and mentioned I didn't want to drive in that direction if they were about to close. The nice lady said to still come and I swear that plate was full...a salad with vidalia onion dressing, flavorful well-seasoned oxtails and plantain. I want to get another order of the same tomorrow before we head back home. Thanks to the ppl that suggested this place.

Was in the area and had mapped out restaurants nearby where I was visiting. Just from the name alone I knew it had to be good and after checking the reviews I said it seems to be worth the try. So glad I tried!They were out of the meat patties but that's OK because I plan to try this restaurant again in the near future. I couldn't decide between the oxtails and spicy goat and I think I ordered the small for both and if that's the case their small is HUGE. BOTH plates were amazing! Spicy goat had the perfect amount of heat. The plantains only two pieces were ripe. I wonder if they offer this as a side. Comes with rice and peas and a salad. The only other place I go for BOMB oxtails is Creole Orleans Catering in Greenbriar Mall food court. Also ordered a mango juice/smoothie drink which was really good. The lady (I believe she was the owner) said they order their juices from the market or somewhere nearby. It's served frozen which is perfect because I let it sit out and by the time I wanted to drink it it was like a slush. Loved it and so refreshing!

Food was excellent Original. Authentic Eat here u will never visit those want to be Jamaican Restaurant there r out there.

Ep. 8 of AntlantaEatsBeing that I was born & raised in South FL, my taste for Caribbean food is a little superficial. I've been disappointed at a few spots prior to discovering this location. A friend recommended me this months & months before. I had just finished walking up/down Stone Mountain. Upon completion, I had just remembered that recommendation and was nearby. I ordered their Jerk Chicken (I got the large size) along with brown rice/beans and plantains. Man I can tell the marinate their chicken for weeks! (Ok I'm exaggerating but you can really tell). It has by far been the best Jerk Chicken I've had in Atlanta (I know I know, I still have more restaurants to check). Inside the restaurant you'll see a few pics of comedian Martin Lawrence with the owner I believe. I got 2 beef patties and a large oxtail. I had to wait 45 mins for the patties because they were being cooked. Everything was good. I did expect more oxtails for the large oxtail price($24). They could have kept the salad and added 2 more oxtails.

Food is authentic and delicious. Unfortunately m, everyone knows this and it is always crowded! Call ahead (still a wait), but worth it!

I love their oxtails. I also love the family atmosphere and the consistency in their food.

Delicious food - spiced just right! Our party of 3 had curry chicken, jerk chicken and oxtails. Major delicious. it's the best little mom and pop restaurant in Stone Mountain. Heck, I'll drive there from Decatur! You are going to love it!
