Maybe I'm spoiled by some really amazing Vietnamese banh mi in Philly. But this was just not it sadly. Highly recommended by locals and some yelpers. Counter staff were rude. Felt like we were bothering them by buying their product. We got a sandwich to try since it was recommended. Got their special or dac biet and it was disappointing.

My 1st time trying this place.Order some banh mi and Vietnamese coffee to go.Heard a lot of good recommendations to this place but unfortunately can't agree with the rest of the group. The sandwiches are too dry. The good thing about Vietnamese sandwiches are the special mayonnaise (or butter) but look like they didn't have it on. The sandwiches are too dry to eat.The Vietnamese coffee aren't the best I have had neither. Can't say this is the best banh mi in town.Price range is ok maybe cheaper toward other places.

Mom recommended this place. Wow, what a hidden gem! Prices range from $4.75-$7.25 depending on the type of sandwich you get. They have baguette or croissant options. They are not shy with the amount of meat they put on the sandwiches. Flavorful and tasty. Put this place on your Banh mi list.

Bring cash! Size has gotten smaller over time with inflation! You'll see someone's uncle hanging out drinking coffee, maybe solicitation outside. All those things are normal! LOL. Expect to spend $5/ea banh mi. IF YOU WANNA EAT LATER, let them know and they separate the veggies from the meat. The time is reasonable for when the sandwiches come out from ordering. Service is fast, quick turnaround time, reasonably priced meal. They'll call your name when it's done, and don't forget to bring cash!

Still on the hunt for flavorful banh mi. We were in this plaza by circumstance for lunch. Saw this shop, got myself a pate, pork, jambon combo for $5.75.Bread was fine, filling was fine, but I think they use white/ not Asian mayo. It was distinctly obvious. The banh mi lacked overall flavorful, but not the worst I've had in this city. I do like you can build your own choice of fillings.

A no frills banh mi shop that was our FAVORITE vietnamese restaurant in Houston, and better than the banh mis in SoCal (Although this was the only place that beat Cali in our books)--dac biet banh mi: perfectly crusty bread, it had the right amount of pate and surprisingly the shredded chicken (which I had never yet ordered in a banh mi) was also good! The hubby enjoyed it so much he got another one to eat at the airport on our last day in HoustonNOTE: They also do croissant banh mi but we didn't try it

There are lots of banh mi shops all along Bellaire, and there's a Lee's Sandwich right in the same shopping center, but Nguyen Ngo has got to be one of my favorites. All the banh mi's come on Vietnamese French bread that tastes especially good and crispy if you ask to get it baked. You can choose what meats and other ingredients you want inside. The banh mi's also have inside your classic pickled carrots and dikon and Vietnamese mayonnaise. My favorite meats that I like to put in my banh mi would probably have to be jambon French ham, chicken, and pate. I also like their banana cake too which tastes like a sweet banana bread with chunks of banana.Because I live more than 3 hours away from Houston, I always like to even buy a whole bunch of banh mi's from here for me to take back home! That's why I always have to come here every time I make a trip to Houston!

I come here pretty often. They make their own cold cuts, pate and such that you can order on the side if you decide to make your own sandwiches at home. There isn't so much of decorating or anything, it's does its job, they have a few tables inside to dine in.Comparable to most banh place but they sell smaller loaves as well so if the regular size is too much for you.If you don't let them know the default dac biet (special combo) is chicken pate and floss. You have to let them know you want pork. Flavoring is different. Why 4 stars? They're good but it's not to die for banh mi. Pretty standard. I've had better so I'm leaving room for improvement. I'll be back for sure.

It's cash only take-out with limited seating. They have one of the best banh mi piled with goodies. The choices are limited though. Service is rushed so you better know what you want before you approach the counter. The thick banh mi is worth the frenzy.
