Lowkey sleeper hit for wings! They're super crispy, like seriously real crispy!! Highly recommend the lemon pepper, and the salt and pepper wings -- you can't really go wrong.Garlic noodles were kind of a miss, not saucy enough. Overall just go there for the wings it's fyeeeee

By sheer coincidence, I read on Eater today that this particular location of this local East Bay chain just closed for good. I just recently tried it for the first and apparently only time, and I have to admit that while the closure is disappointing to read from a staffing standpoint, the quality of the food didn't bowl me over. I tried the $10 Garlic Noodles with the $4 addition of Beef.I was just surprised how how carb-centric it was as the thick noodles dominated the garlic, butter, house sauce, and the sparse amount of beef (photo: https://yelp.to/wQzO-Mqa1s). I couldn't finish it and frankly didn't want to as my arteries were clogging with every bite. Their Alameda locations are still open, but if I ever try it again, I'll avoid the noodles and maybe stick with the appetizers.FOOD - 2 stars...carb overload, desultory resultAMBIANCE - 3 stars...enough space though tables were awkwardly placed, lanterns were a nice touchSERVICE - 2.5 stars...felt understaffed, now I know whyTOTAL - 2 stars...shock the monkey!RELATED - Exploring Oakland? I ordered the salt & pepper chicken wings with garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were pretty meh... disappointing and wouldn't get it again :/ the WINGS however... really redeemed the meal. I will definitely be coming back for these wings. They have hella flavors and I tried the lemon pepper too-- also great. Their drinks are affordable and tasty. I tried lychee lemonade and the Thai tea. Will def be back when I got munchies. Plenty of indoor seating & some good music

one of my go to spots for quick food in piedmont. wings and a side for less than $15 with a variety of flavors and large portion sizes. service is alright, it's definitely casual or grab and go. there was a bug in the water jug when i went and they served expired canned soda. it needs some upkeep forsure. good food though.

So it's been over a year since I posted my initial review. Today I'm back in oakland after moving to the north bay and I had the craving for the monkey king fried rice again. It did not disappoint.Still happy !!! Still good!! The people continue to be nice, the service is good, quick and efficient. The restaurant was empty but open layout and welcoming. I continue to recommend!

I've been to the Alameda location once, so this was my first time going to this location. It's a casual place that feels more like a bar than a restaurant, but I just wanted to eat ASAP, so it didn't matter to me. I ordered the following at the bar first before seating myself at a table:Hanoi Chicken Wings - These are not spicy and have a sweet fish sauce. I found them crispy and tasty, though they did look a little small in the basket. Ginger & Onion Crab Fried Rice - I thought this was decent, but a little too salty. The rice quality was okay. As such, Money King may be a better place for small bites than main dishes. I like that they have many self-serve condiment options, so that customers will only take and use what they need, but I hope to see more reusable options in the future (see notes). ECO NOTES (Dine-In)Dine-In Dishware: Reusable plate and basket. Basket had single-use paper lining. Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkinUtensils: Metal fork. I did find out that sometimes they use single-use when they don't plan on washing (but I don't know the details on why they vary whether they do or don't wash). Water cups: Paper cups in self-serve format.

Great portions for the pricing, especially compared to other options in this part of town. The garlic noodles we're pretty bland on their own, highly recommend some chili oil or something to add some flavor. The sichuan wings were decent, not the best. The onions and peppers that came with them were perfect for mixing into the garlic noodles.
