"It's nice to have a donut/sandwich shop nearby in your own neighborhood and this place is no exception. I've been frequenting Roger's for years now and have seen this business thrive. There are many folks from the neighborhood coming in on the weekends and workers mostly on weekdays. Their donuts are delicious and their croissants are not your regular type croissants but more of a doughy-donut texture but still good. What I really love is their sandwiches and my favorite is the hot pastrami. It can get chaotic though at times especially on the weekends. To order a sandwich, you must get in line near the cold beverages and place your order. The menu is large enough and easy to read. Choose your bread type and any cheese you want added. A ticket is then printed in front of you and you take that to the cash registers. What is confusing after that point is many people gathered around with no sense of organization. One way to notice if someone has already paid or yet to pay is by looking at the color of their receipts. If you see someone holding a white ticket, most likely that person hasn't yet paid for their food. If you see pink in their hands, they have already paid and is waiting for their food. They also have breakfast offerings but I have tried any of those items yet. Besides the chaos of people standing around, the food makes up for it. Best time to go here is after the rush hours."

"LOVEI went here for a memorial celebration of a lovely man. This was his favorite restaurant and I can see why. The food was excellent, as was the service. The buffet luncheon was wonderful. I liked the chicken, loved the potatoes and perfectly cooked vegetables, and of course the pasta, a lovely tortellini in cream sauce. The dessert buffet was epic. I especially loved the intensely chocolate cake.LIKEI really appreciated the covered open patio seating. As someone still trying to avoid Covid and all the other viruses floating around, the airflow helped me feel safer in a crowd of a few hundred people. I will return when I'm in the neighborhood."

"Unbeknownst to Crust, my closest coworker suddenly passed away this morning. I spent all morning vacillating between shock/numbness and crying. Eventually I decided to order Grubhub for lunch. I wanted something comforting, so I ordered my favorite chipotle chicken sandwich from my favorite sandwich spot, Crust. During my online order, I added a few requests and sent a note that I hoped they had a nice weekend. My order arrived swiftly and when I opened the bag, I saw that they threw in a cookie too. I almost started crying again because of their kindness, without even knowing how my morning went.The sandwich was perfect; crunchy yet chewy, perfectly tangy with the sourdough bread, hearty portions of chicken, delicious chipotle sauce. During a break between games, we went out for a quick bite and found Santoro's about a couple minutes away.Santoro's is located on the corner of a residential area so you'll need to park on the street. However, the location is part of the charm as you feel like you've stepped back in time when you enter Santoro's. You're greeted by a friendly crew and asked to fill out your order slip. We ordered a couple of sandwiches which were bigger than we expected with layers of delicious roasted meat and all of the condiments. I had the chicken sandwich and highly recommend it.The staff was very attentive and checked on us regularly to make sure we were enjoying our sandwiches. You can tell this is the neighborhood spot as locals came in to grab their usual orders and have a quick chat with the staff/owners."

Metered parking here but you can go to the nearby Safeway plaza for free parking and walk over. So, I got the Italian sausage sandwich with potato salad. I was surprised it was circular instead of rectangular. Lol. The cashier didn't ask me what kind of bread I wanted but later on I found out they have other options such as rye or dutch crunch. My sandwich came with telera bread (google says it's white bread typically used on Mexican sandwiches). Anyway, tasty & moist sandwich! The roasted bell pepper sauce, meat & spinach went well together. The potato salad was a little on the bland side. The inside is pretty tiny, think there were 2 or 3 tables. They offer soups and salads too. Also saw some catering options: veggie/fruit platters and lasagna. Will return!"

"YO. This spot is it. Hidden gem in the business district of San Jose. Not really an eat in place but there are seats. It's more an order to go spot with quick and pleasant staff. These were the best sandwiches I've had in quite some time. The hot pastrami special with the peppercinis is one of the best I've ever had, only really beatable by Katz in NY and I could even make that argument. I'm not exaggerating.The French Dip was fire too but if I'm going back I'm getting two hot pastramis instead. I think of it often but I don't work in the area, which is the only negative. Senseless and definitely sad for small business trying to survive.I know everyone is on edge at this time, but High XII owner, Abby and staff, Jose and Leti (my apologies for not knowing the others) are wonderful, welcoming, friendly and help to start off your morning! Everyone there I might add, is doing a great job at following CDC recommendations: face masks, gloves, markings on the floor for social distancing, touchless payment, plexi, plastic drape to protect the food, employees and the customers while being ever so friendly and respectful... Definitely adding that extra star to this review! High XII Cafe has limited their hours (Mon-Fri, 8am - 1:30pm) and menu to a few breakfast items (some Starter Bakery goodies), Verve coffee with sandwiches and salad until they get back on their feet. This place is nothing fancy but great to grab a pastry and quick bite after getting off 12th Street BART station, with a short walk around the corner onto 11th.Show this business some love and support by stopping by, grabbing a bite (tip: the salmon and kale salad lunch is the best!) and making a small donation/tip for this business and hardworking staff! The food was made within 5 mins, so very quick! They also accept cash or card. LOCATION: It's located in a small plaza with its own parking lot. It was a bit difficult to find since it's not a typical shop or restaurant. You'd see a few bulletin boards, which will have the shop's menu on there as well as others restaurants. Then you'll see a door with a small doorbell. It looked closed, but you just have to ring the doorbell and someone will come and take your order!"
