The Wandering Goat

I was heading back from work yesterday and decided to take a different route. In Hanrahan, I happened to look to the right and saw a sign for gelato with a glowing neon sign indicating it was open. I did a quick u-turn and drove to The Wandering Goat, because who doesn't love gelato and I was hungry. I entered in a small but friendly looking place, that smelled delicious. There are a few tables and games filling the nearby shelves. A friendly place that is destined to be a staple in the neighborhood. The owner Dale makes everything from scratch and it's obvious from first bite that he knows what he is doing. Small menu, good food, great service!I had The Goat sandwich and Turtle cookie. The focaccia bread is fresh, soft and delectable. Sandwich was toasted and I watched fresh ingredients used. Worth it! Dale said I would fall in love with the turtle and he was right! I'll be back, Dale, for another one! It's easy to miss the place because the sign for the pizza place is prominent, but I encourage you to seek this place out. It is well worth the visit.

I hope this place lasts. The owner is so kind and thoughtful. He offered a sample of fresh Stracciatella gelato, it didn't have the chocolate and I fell in love with it. When I returned another weekend, I mentioned that I didn't realize it had chocolate in it and I'm not a chocolate lover. When ai returned again, he had placed a pint on the side without chocolate for me. That made my week! so amazing! Their muffaletta is amazing also!

We came here about 1.5 years ago. It is a cute little bakery and the sweetest owner. He was very friendly but at the time, you could tell he was a little sad because they were about to close for good. I had ordered a few sweet items, I can't remember exactly, one was a cannoli, I think maybe a brownie, a cake pop, and a cookie? I remember loving the little goat they put in the bag. And to show how kind the owner was, he threw in a could of extra cannolis. I remember the cannolis were a little try and I just didn't love the flavor. I don't think they were fresh. I think the brownie was also a little dry. But I think it w a s just bad timing when I went. I would like to go back to try their non sweet items like their Breads and sandwiches. Overall the kindness of the owner did go a long way and I will eventually return.

This New Orleans gelato and bakery restaurant is noted for their cakes, breads, cookies and gelato and their other New Orleans dessert options. New Orleans has a lot of great food and Wandering Goat is one of the newer dessert restaurant options that could be easy to miss if you're not paying attention. The Wandering Goat is located in a small strip mall on Jefferson Highway in Harahan right next to the Happy Italian Pizzeria. I've returned to this bakery two more times since my initial visit and it's been very consistent. The owner continues to be friendly. Even though there is a small selection of baked goods they are quite tasty. I've since had the orange cake which was good but the strawberry cake is still my favorite. I've had the chocolate chip cookies, the lemon cookies and the lemon cookies with blueberry icing. They are all very good. I've had about 4 different flavors of the gelato and they were all very tasty. I think this will be one of my go to bakeries moving forward. I look forward to trying some of the non-bakery food items.

Just stopped by for some gelato with my pregnant wife and stumbled upon an absolute GEM. The owner Dale is very friendly and welcoming! The inside was clean and decorated with games to play all around. Dale makes everything from scratch which is a relief from all the processed foods mostly available in the US. He makes a variety of fresh non preservative breads and sandwiches so give this place a try!! SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES

I cannot believe this place doesn't have a line out the door. Everything is made from scratch by Dale. The place is charming and full of character. And the gelato is out of this world delicious. I wish I lived here because I'd be bringing friends all the time.

The gelato was some of the best I've ever had. All of the dessert items looked so good! Cute little place, nice people. Tasted bananas foster & caramel gelato. Granddaughter loved her birthday cake gelato.Can't wait to try some bread and desserts! And everything else!

Simple menu, amazing breads and sandwiches. Love everyone of the sandwiches offered. Great to go option.

Food is great especially the bread. I love the ambiance and the owner is super nice. This could definitely be a chill place for a date night or a book club meeting.
