For a hearty breakfast, go to this takeout-only, no-frills bakery inside a bare space. The people who create and sell the food are friendly and patient. From chicken and waffles to coffee, they have it all. I ordered a bag of $12 buttermilk donut holes for $2.50. The donut holes were sweet and large. They take credit cards.

Good Morning!! I'd first like to thank Tiffany and Mr. Sydney and their staff of Buttermilk Drop Bakery for the SUPERIOR service given to me and my staff of A-"Cleaning Company".Buttermilk Drop went above and beyond to make my order and when an error happened with my order they were eager to fix and make up for my order. Thank you for making my experience that more pleasurable. I recommend this establishment to any local or tourist looking for great food and great service. Highly recommend. -Kenneth Martin

Buttermilk drop for the win again! Fresh delicious donuts it's in the name because that's what they do perfectly. The buttermilk drops have a nice crunchy outside and a soft cake like inside and very delicious and the prices can't be beat. I'm also a fan of the apple fritter which has a decent amount of apple bits throughout the soft interior and the perfect amount of glaze outside. This is definitely a spot that's worth driving to If not to get the original buttermilk drops everything else. They also serve breakfast in the mornings.

Small little bakery run by a single person. We walked right in and even though it was close to closing, he treated us perfectly. Gave us a free buttermilk drop to try and was very attentive. It's a bit expensive, but the buttermilk drops are delicious and the service is exceptional. I'd go again.

It's a 5 for me dawg! Not my first time here but my first review. This 5 is for everything thing all rolled into one aka body of work not just one experience. You may go one day and they are out of hash or good too late and there is no food. Even the credit card machine could be down. It may be crowded but the line moves fast and the people working serve you with a smile. *le sigh* I am hopping ya'll to another one of my go to hidden gems in NOLA. Pro tip: They open at 6am. Go early. The earlier the better. True. You can DoorDash and the like but do it early! Some of you ask asking what is a buttermilk drop? For the uninitiated think of a big donut hole at the top of its game glazed to perfection. What else do you get? The bakery is on one side. The savory food on the other. Whatever you want for breakfast is available. Grits (no sugar, please. In how reviews with grits have I said this?), eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, fried chicken, breakfast rice. Yes! Breakfast rice. It saves lives! In the simplest of terms and for descriptive purposes only think of friend rice. Got the picture? Take out the carrots and peas. Add green onions and bits of link sausage, ground sausage, maybe bacon? Check out the picture. This deliciousness fixes whatever ails you from the night before. Speaking of pics, I know. You can hear the crunch on the chicken right? Tastes as good as it looks. Just a wee hint of spice. I didn't get a pic of a buttermilk drop (use ya googles) but I did get a pic of my Apple fritter. Big enough to share but I am not. Pro tip 2: Bring ya patience and your manners with you to the 7th ward. The Buttermilk Drop isn't some glorified tourist trap.

Not bad, but you can't argue with the amazing prices and old school feel. The buttermilk drop didn't really have much of a hint of buttermilk in it. Frosting was really sweet and cloying. Had a jelly filled too and it lacked flavor and filling tasted a little artificial. I'd say it's like one of the old school, cheap donut places in a good way. For the amazing service and super friendly employees, and the general history and neighborhood fixture - you can't beat it.

On 7/22/2023I ordered 1/2 dozen glazed donuts from Uber Eats. The donuts were shoved down in a brown paper bag, grease stains showing everywhere. Was not put in a box container. Donuts were grouped and stuck together. They have lost me as a customer.. you don't get a 2nd chance with me..this was not what I was expecting.Gmarie H.Cc: Google Local Guides and Reviews

I went into buttermilk drop; chicken & waffle side for a shrimp & grits breakfast. As I do every Sunday morning before church. The lady Nini is always so sweet, take great care of everyone, and has great customer service. Today there was a customer/Lady that called Nini multiple names and the man she was with had put his hand in Ms.Nini face, which is ridiculous and disrespectful. I was there for it all and couldn't even eat my food after this situation they was on some real Ni**a stuff this situation messed up my day. Shrimp & grits in the trash. All customers are not right and this customer was totally wrong. A big tall lady came forward (I suppose the manager) and didn't do anything at least ask the lady to be respectful, but she did nothing. She just stood there confused. Nini you definitely deserve better my heart goes out to you sweetheart.

This place is a must when visiting New Orleans. The prices are spectacular and the food is outstanding. The Apple fritters felt like they weighed a pound! The lemon donut was also a stand out. Our groups fan favorite was the breakfast rice. The employees were helpful and full of southern charm. I highly recommend this hole in the wall!
