Nonno’s Cajun Cuisine and Pastries

We picked this place out on a whim as the reviews were amazing. We came in with our littles and were greeted by a smiling server. She was so bubbly and loved all options in the menu. It was hard for her to tell us her favorite. She finally decided on the French toast and she wasn't wrong. We ordered the fence toast and the shrimp tacos with eggs and were so happy with all the sweet and savory flavors. As we sat and ate, we noticed that the chef was featured in many of the exerts that were hung on the wall. We looked at the chef and saw him sitting at one of the tables in the back of the restaurant. Such a great scene when the owner is there. Amazing food, great service and flavor that will keep you wanting more.

Just an okay spot to grab food. The prices are pretty high, but definitely in line with other places in the city. I ordered the catfish poboy, and it was $18. It comes with a very small serving of fries, so the serving size is a bit underwhelming. The catfish was solid. I would guess that it's about an 8 or 10 inch roll and one piece of fish. I tried the eggrolls, and it was both too cheesy and used the yellow cheese (wrong type if you ask me), but it didn't come with a dipping sauce. They have large, flatscreen tvs, so I could see myself coming to watch a game or something at their bar.

I recently visited during a festival on Bayou Road. There was a sign of a limited menu on the door without any prices. The restaurant was packed due to the festival going on outside; however, they weren't prepared. Our waitress gave us our drinks, took our order, and was MIA afterwards.It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered the catfish and fries. Only one catfish was served with a small serving of fries. The catfish was okay, and the fries were basic fries from the frozen section of a store without any seasoning. The person with me ordered the fried chicken with fries. The plate had about 4-5 wings on it. I was told that the chicken was decent but could've used more seasoning. The sweet tea tasted like Lipton with a pinch of Country Time Lemonade. We grew impatient as we were waiting for our server and had to ask someone else for our check. We were flabbergasted that our bill was $54. Nothing about our experience was worth $54. The food was mediocre, overpriced, and the customer service was nonexistent. The restaurant looks dated. We spent a little over an hour in the restaurant and wished we would've just gone to the food truck at the event instead. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also, we realized that we were charged twice!

Seems like a local a local spot in a cool area. The service and staff were excellent, very friendly and it felt more like being at someone's home versus a restaurant. The food and drinks were good. Would go back.

A vibe!!!! And was open in the snow storm of 2025. A must stop in NOLA!!!! The food is very good and the service is A++. Hats off to chef and staff.

Hidden gem!! We was so glad we found this place. We drove around to so many places before we found this place and it was amazzzinnggggg.First off it was only 1 server and she was doing it. She was so nice and accommodating and helpful. The cook was also coming from the back and helping out.On to this foood........ babyyyyyyyyy when I say everything SLAPPED! I mean seasoned and cooked to perfection!!!!!! The pictures didn't do it any justice. The French toast is top teir. The steak was so juicy and seasoned LAWD. I would 100% be back and if you ever in the area make sure you pull up on them.Great food and great experience

Great service and delicious food, including Vegan options. I had the seafood rolls and a PoBoy, they were both great. This place is only a short drove from the French Quarter and has a very welcoming and cozy dining area.

My first trip to New Orleans and was excited to try some authentic Cajun/Creole. Upon resorting on Yelp for suggestions stumbled on Nonno's but let me say, it did not meet expectations. Initially searched address on Google only to find it closed, so had to go to their secondary address on here. Arrived on a Friday night only to find it completely empty which was odd but was hungry decided to settle. No physical menus, so have your phone out to QR away. Server told us about their special of étouffée- and when we decided to order that we were told it was unavailable... So we ordered a shrimp po'boy. Upon receiving our meals, I was disappointed, it was just okay nothing special. Po boy lacked flavor and was just a plain sandwich with lettuce, tomato and flavorless shrimp with a side of cold stale previously frozen crinkle cut fries. Price: $17 for a po' boy which was simply okay is on the higher end Would I recommend? Most likely not.

I come to New Orleans at least twice a year and try to visit different restaurants. From the pictures and good reviews, I decided to give it a try. We had gumbo, seafood egg rolls, catfish and chicken/French toast. Everything was good especially that French Toast made with French bread and the catfish was seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be back.
