Mothers for breakfast and then again for dinner was great!! Breakfast was awesome.... The cheese grits were authentic. Dinner was the pictures and each dish was spot on. Service is grab a menu, go to cashier to order then find a table. Easy. Quick service from there and super friendly staff! Very helpful with questions too. Highly recommend this diner. Unlike the Hotel No. 77 up the street. Do not stay there. It was tragic..... and never, ever, eat in the restaurant inside that hotel. They can murder the best, easiest of dishes with terrible service.

Ordered a few different items and only fell in love with two. First you must get the Ferdi poboy special. Wow was it amazing. Juicy pork and ham. I can't express enough how delicious this was. Reminds me of a Cuban sandwich. Second you must get the Jerry's jambalaya. Very very good You get in line when you get there. Order and pay then sit down. Leave your receipt on the table and a food runner will drop off your food.

- Almost Perfect, Just Needed a Dash of... SomethingWalking into this place felt like stepping into Grandma's house--if Grandma had an unlimited supply of chairs and a selective approach to hospitality. Our server was all smiles and charm with us but seemed to have beef with the other half of our party. Maybe it was a test? Maybe they failed? We may never know. The food was solid, but let's just say the seasoning was on a well-earned vacation. The cheese grits, though? Absolute celebrity status. If the rest of the menu took notes from those grits, we'd be looking at a 5-star experience. But alas, here we are at four stars, dreaming of what could have been.

Like many others, we were led here based on seeing the restaurant on man v food. Service was quick and food was tasty. Adam was right about how good the ham is. Prices are reasonable for new orleans. 3 sides for the dinner was good enough for two. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the top breakfast spots in NOLA for tourists and locals. Unchanged since it started in spite of new owners. Go early to avoid the lines.Always an experience and great food.Damages for 2 was $30.

We opted for Togo and it was packaged perfectly to prevent leaks and with quality packaging. We got black ham with cabbage, green beans and red beans and rice. Everything was generously seasoned and delicious. The green beans have a tomato vibe and it's good but also interesting. We also ordered the debris sandwich. It's good and 100% something you should try. The French bread is crispy and soft and went so well with the juice the debris is served in. The best part was the cop who was directing people where to go, telling the host what tables to seat and how many he had getting up. The employees really work well together and the young lady running food did it so effortlessly and efficiently. They keep the line outside to manage the crowding! It was so long when we left! Worth the wait!

BEST FOOD EVER!!!!!! This was our favorite place during our entire trip for dinner. It is 1000000000% comfort food done right. I am craving it right now! Service was good. You get in line and order by the cash register and then they bring the food out to you. Ambiance is very casual and lowkey. I think about this place a lot... it was the best food I had during our visit. Everything we tried was so good and I'm not even that much of a fan of gumbo! So please go visit!!!

This place is well known for their "Famous Ferdi Special" which is a ham and roast beef po boy and their "worlds best baked ham dinner" I think both dishes are unique but not just my taste, I think it was still good to try their take on these dishes You order on the counter and you find you table and they'll deliver it to you, I think service could be better as there are people waiting on you but they're not that attentive

We were passing thru New Orleans on a business trip and had a lay over, we have seen this place on Man vs. Food. I had to try their famous Debris Po Boy. I was amazing, but you had better be hungry, it is amazing. Most people only get the half sized order. I have the fries with seasoning, they are truly unique. The restaurants was clean and even smelled clean. It is modern and spacious. This place is a staple in the communtiy. The ham here is legendary. My wife had the cheese grits and eggs that is served with it. The biscuits are HUGE, it is not wonder this place has been in business a long time. This is a must stop place if you are in New Orleans, it is a tradition!

This was a spot that was touted as THE place to go. Not sure if it met the hype. Let me start with the Service. It was a stand in line and order at the counter, find a table and they bring you the food. No complaints about that. But when we got to the counter to order, the man very rude and brusk, talked very fast and glared when I asked him to repeat what he said. My husband requested ham with his eggs. I got an omelette with ham and cheese, grits, and a biscuit. When we got our meals, there was no ham with my husband's eggs. The waitress said there was no ham on the ticket, and walked away. The food was just OK. Nothing special. The biscuit was warm and flaky and the best part of the meal. The omelette was cooked ok, but the cheese was not completed melted and there was only a small portion of small diced ham. The grits were good. The restaurant is very small and divey. No frills. It was clean but had a greasy spoon ambiance. Again, not a negative.I would not come here again. There are so many other fabulous restaurants available with friendly staff.
