Amazing local Mexican. Best In Metairie. The burrito was amazing. The birria quesadilla tacos were amazing and the chicken quesadilla. This is my go to meal after a night of drinking. Just a local shop cooking up some good food. Hours are limited though.

The service was nice. The food is amazing and the place is the cleanest I've ever seen.

This place was absolutely amazing! It was out first time there but we'd heard about it in social media. We didn't set out to eat there that particular day, but instead we were planing to dine at a nearby restaurant. When we pulled in the parking lot, we remembered it was there so I said let's give it a shot. Upon entering, the cashier greeted us, explained the menu and that we could place our order with her, have a seat and it would be brought to our table. Atmosphere was inviting, clean, and great for dining in or take out. They also have a small store like case where they sell drinks and some of their other popular items such as the infamous homemade tortillas they're known for. It took us a while to order since we were indecisive and wasn't quite sure what we wanted. We were torn between breakfast and lunch. I decided to order the shrimp ceviche and the 4 fried tacos topped with cabbage, salsa, and grated cheese, which was the perfect mix of hot, crispy, and fresh. I had 2 chicken and 2 beef. My companion had two shredded beef tacos, which were also amazing. The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing. We love Mexican cuisine and will definitely be back!

Got a lot of food: shrimp quesadillas, pupusas, Honduran birra tacos, and plantains.The service was fast and efficient. If I remember correctly the dining area used to be a tanning salon. As I've seen businesses here (since daiquiri bay used to be Short stop po-boys, and a head shop before that). If you know where you're going it pretty fly, but these rounded brick arches almost hide the businesses at this particular. One good thing is that Ramsey's jewelers used to be in a 400 sf shop and now has relocated to where the money is-70005&70006. Or 1/2 way in between. This place is promising for the pupusas, and the plantains. The "gulf shrimp" were not very, and the birra tacos were more like flautas.They were definitely alright in the midnight of the next day.Real Mexican Coke and the berry tea were awesome...

Decided to try this place because a lot of people recommended it as having the best birria tacos. When you walk in, order at the counter, take your order number, and enter through another door to get into the dining room area. Someone will bring the order to you, and there'll be an area with condiments and a bucket for you to place your plates when done. In my opinion, the birria tacos were ok. I was disappointed. I've definitely had better but to all their own. The chicken quesidillas were plentiful but were also just ok, nothing too special to note. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any homemade sauces available but instead had hot sauce bottles, even one from Buccees..Or maybe they did have some but you have to request for it.They do sell other things like snacks and such, too. There were plenty of parking spaces, but the lot itself is tight when it gets crowded.

As always the food is delicious! Todays special drink is a strawberry-pineapple aqua fresca and it was so good! Very refreshing! We came for breakfast so tacos were a must! The salsa accompanying my tacos was very good. They had a special dish called plantain pirouqe, it was very delicious! Perfectly cooked, not too mushy as some places have it. Over all everything was amazing. The service is always top tier as well. Very friendly and welcoming.

I used to love this spot and would come here regularly, but unfortunately, I won't be returning. Over time, I've noticed the quality has really gone downhill, and it just isn't the same anymore. For starters, the amount of consommé they provide has gotten so much smaller, which really takes away from the experience. One of the best parts of birria tacos was always having the option to dip them in the rich consommé, but now they don't even dip the tacos beforehand, nor do they offer you the choice to have them dipped or undipped. It's a small detail, but it makes a big difference in the flavor and overall satisfaction. There are definitely better birria taco spots around now, and I'm really disappointed that this place isn't one of them anymore. What used to be a go-to has become a letdown.

This is a quaint, clean and well run establishment. Gloria is the kind lady at the cash register taking orders, making sure everything is to your liking and delivering to the dining room. The other ladies are working their equally as important magic in the kitchen. Our food was really delicious. Doña Gloria helped us with our Spanish too. Really nice sized portions, at a fair price. It's the kind of place where you tip big, because hugging the staff for such good vibes may seem just a little weird. At any rate, everything was cooked while you wait briefly, with all fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. Their yuca fries are way better than mine lol. Plenty of free parking in the front facing lot. Definite new neighborhood go to for fresh and delicious.

Small latin restaurant with lots of flavor! Went to Mawi for the second time and shared a couple of plates with my friend. The owner gave us a couple of recommendations. We got:- Pork Tamale: yummy!- Birria Tacos: very flavorful and delicious to dip in the broth- Chicharron and Queso Pupusa, Spinach and Cheese Pupusa: these were both good but I preferred the chicharron ones! Both good with the slaw and red sauce it comes with- Horchata: so good I finished it quicklyThey have a fridge full of stuff to go. I got the shrimp ceviche and tres leches. I've had better but they were both fresh and good quality. Need to go back asap!
