I travel here and there for work and this is an amazing little place in rural Louisiana. It had very sweet and attentive staff and amazing food. I got the grilled Mahi Mahi that was topped with an amazing sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful.

Our family go to Cher Amie's for birthday celebrations more than any other local restaurant. We went on June 15, 2023 to celebrate my father's 85th birthday, his choice! My sister called for reservations and told them that it was dad's 85th birthday. Seated next to us was my High School French teacher, mentor, and part of the reason I got my first Bachelor's degrees in French! It is not possible for me to go to a restaurant and not be in some way related and to also have special connections with several individuals in the mass of diners who are in some way my distant cousins! This is a restaurant where locals do eat. The serving staff is always friendly and attentive. Our waitress was on her second shift, she was amazing!, as was her supervisor/trainer. The menu is vast. Everything I have tried has been delicious, I love the eggplant dishes! And the soft shelled crab dishes - they clean them well!Every once in a while I have to have a crab pistolette, a deep fried football-shaped fresh baked bread, placed in the serving plate and it is cut in half using the perfect height serving small oval dish and the sauce is laced generously over the bottom slice of bread and topped with that golden brown top. There is a reason that every table has a roll of paper towels on it and if you pick up that pistolette by hand, because that's how us Cajuns do it, you will need more than the napkin around your utensils and straw, multiple paper towels will be needed. The pistolettes can be filled with any of the following cheesy seafood sauces where the seafood is plentiful: crab, shrimp, and crawfish. Each type is delicious! I chose to only have my entrée, as did everyone. As was the case of the food we ordered. My dad ate his fill and got a go box to snack later. The rest of us ate all of our food, except I couldn't eat the buttered Texas Toast on my plate, I wrapped it initially in my napkin but ask for a paper towel because of the butter on the end. When we finished our meal, a plate was brought out with a brownie and vanilla ice cream on top. On the side written beautifully in a raspberry sauce was: Happy Birthday Mr. Norman and the training server made the following announcement to the full restaurant: Excuse me, May I have your attention please, tonight we are celebrating the 85th birthday of Mr Norman and began singing with the entire restaurant singing gleefully, the Happy Birthday song,. The smile of delight on his face was a precious memory for me. Someone was leaving right after the song ended and cheered for Dad, a man passed and touched his shoulder to get his attention then shook his hand and said congratulations on getting to 85, Happy Birthday! My dad said, with his classic grin I am going to make it to 100! The gentleman smiled saying I am sure you will, as he left. Every one at the table helped him eat the warm brownie with the soft scoop of Vanilla ice cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce and scooping up the raspberry message with the bites of brownie! It was a typical family birth day celebration. Cher Amie's is a local joke. It means Dear Friend in French but as one word, Cheramie, it is a local Cajun last name! When my daughter and I got home she and I broke up the Texas Toast into tiny pieces so each member of my flock could get a treat. We have my 18 hens and a recent member to join the flock less than a month ago was a scrawny rooster named Volcano by my daughter because of his markings. In 3 weeks has learned to crow, and has doubled in size. And they came down from their roosting the flock, minus Volcano who made sure his ladies all got some goodies, here nothing goes to waste. Back to the food at Cher Amie's each item is like a volcano in your mouth from the delicious flavor combinations we so enjoyed in the southeastern section of ,Cajun Country in Louisiana- our food will have a little heat, but we prefer to season our food with onion, celery, bell (red is my preference) and garlic, lots of garlic! It is worth taking a road trip outside of New Orleans the area of the country that has the second highest concentration of native French speakers! My dad and his 95 year old sister are in that group. Don't think you are getting real Cajun for in the big city, come down to South Lafourche and eat at Cher Amie's! You will be delighted!

If you are looking for a Seafood Restaurant in Lafourche Parish, Cut Off area this is the place. I have visited it once before on the recommendation of friends and family. We had a family crowd with us so I am sorry to say at that time I was more attentive to them than the dinning experience or surroundings. Today I found myself in the area at lunch time alone and decided to pop in and give the place more of attention. The parking lot was packed, so I was a little apprehensive as to if I would have to wait in a line. Contrary, I was greeted by a young lady the second I stepped in, and offered to clean up a table for me if I waited for a few seconds. I opted to sit at the bar area, not wanting to take up an entire table for myself, but it was a nice offer. She seated me at the bar, told me whom my waitress would be by name and she would be with me very shortly. Ms Lonnie, a very big smile and friendly young lady appeared, gave me the run down on the lunch special of the day and took my drink order while placing a full menu in front of me( see photos) I opted for unsweetened tea which she returned with so quickly I barely had time to open the menu. I ordered the fried shrimp salad, but continued to look over the menu just to see the offerings, should I choose to return. Made it to the second page and Ms Lonnie was back with my salad. The salad was very well presented, loaded with all the effects of a chef salad and fried shrimp topping it all. Well to my surprise, when I say shrimp ! There was more shrimp on top of this salad than most of the seafood restaurants around put on a shrimp platter. The veggies were fresh and crisp, while the shrimp was fresh, hot, golden fried and over the top in flavor. The tea was also fresh made, not something from a fountain machine or left in the fridge. Ms Lonnie was very attentive but did not Hover over me. She was watchful and knew exactly when I needed a refill, when I was done with my meal and when was an appropriate time to offer me desert and my bill. We chatted a little, I looked over the restaurant and atmosphere.. casual, nice family place as well as enticing to the lone traveler or worker on a lunch hour. Quaint, home style very comfortable describes the atmosphere best. Plenty of friendly servers, super quick turn around on food to your table and the other dishes I glanced over looked every bit as delicious as my salad was.The place doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside is where it all comes together. I intend to bring friends, family and business acquaintances alike to this special little place. Good food, great service and more than fair prices...! Thanks Ms Lonnie and Thanks Chee Amie's for a wonderful lunch experience. See Y'all soon. Please see menu offerings in photo's

Stopped in after the high school band marching festival. Called ahead and made sure they would still be accepting diners close to closing time. Service was very good, food was excellent! Onion rings and boudin egg rolls. Also had the crab au gratin with a softshell crab, crab cake stack and stuffed shrimp/bacon wrapped shrimp. Food was excellent! Wide variety of items on menu.
