I was greeted immediately and the staff was nice. I ordered take out and really enjoyed my food. I had tacos and chips and queso with seasoned meat. Everything was really good. I'll definitely be back to try more menu items"

James M. "This is a great place for beer lovers and there are some things for non-beer lovers too. With a minimum of 20 different beers on tap at any one time, it's a GREAT place to get a beer-ducation! From lighter lagers, attainable ambers, to yeasty Belgians, to darker browns and stouts, all the way to the various IPAs from coast to coast, and their trendy sours and seltzers, you can find any style that suits your tastes! Also, if you're overwhelmed with the selection, there are 20-sided dice at the bar to let random selection occur for you! Staff is friendly and they're also there to help you decide, being knowledgeable about the brews. But don't forget the food truck outside! BREW BYTES BISTRO has excellent American pub food and burgers for you to choose from! Agile holds events and specials pretty much all week long and they have expanded their hours to seven days a week at the time I'm writing this--so there's always a good time to come try it out!"

Took like 10 minutes. The kid was nice. Taco came with green sauce and lime slice. It was good. Carne asada gets you a lot for $13. The whole plate was full. I'd recommend. The steak was a little chewy but had good seasoned flavor. Came with beans and even a little piece of cheese. I'll try the horchata next time."

Shanita F. "I pass by this place so many times but have never noticed it. It was recommended to me as one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. I don't need much convincing to try a different Mexican restaurant, so I came here the first chance I got. The menu does not have regular burritos on it (only kid's burrito), but they still make it. I had a chicken burrito that's made in a large tortilla. They serve it with a small side of rice and refried beans. I would have liked a little more, but I always want more lol. The burrito is cooked on the grill and is pretty decent. The real star of the show is the mushroom empanada!!!! It's served with a side of spicy mayo. These empanadas were the best empanadas I've ever had in my life! I will never not order these when I come. They are $5.99 for 3. They were soft and very flavorful. I could eat like 5 more. Please try them! ***There's parking in front of the restaurant, but very few. I parked on the side of the building. The place is decorated nicely and has nice table runners. They also have high chairs that are placed at the bar. You order at the counter. I think they prefer cash because there's a small fee for using a card or Apple Pay or Google Pay."

Part of me is like, make it make sense and the other part is like, I don't want it to make sense. We checked out Vals because we were in the mood for something more casual/less prohibitively expensive than some of the other joints on Freret where entrees fetch upwards of 35 dollars... and a little less casual than Dat Dog (no shade on any of the aforementioned places. These are tough times for restaurants). It was a chilly night so no patio for us, but they do have heating lamps out there. Inside is really nice, dark, with a large bar and comfy booths. Folk art and murals give it a bit of an Oaxaca vibe (not to mention all of the mezcal drinks). While there's not a lot of vegan options, there are a couple tacos. The guacamole is legit and I couldn't stop eating it. Prices are so reasonable.I don't at all mind the service charge as they explain it both on the menu and before taking your order. When our waitress brought the check, she reminded us again. And if you want to leave a little extra, you can. You can't mind when they are so transparent! So many places are not and you feel awkward about not giving another 20% on top of that. Can't wait to return on a warm spring evening so I can sit on the patio with a frozen marg!"

I want to emphasize that I often find that sometimes you get better food when you eat in than to go at some places. At least in my opinion. That is not true at Nacho Kat. Our orders to go are every bit what we would get dining in. My partner got the Parilladas on a recent visit. He loved them! So much variety and it was all delicious! I tasted it all as well. He kept saying, you need to taste how good this is. Ha ha.., As usual, everyone working there are so helpful and incredibly nice. On our last visit, we had been out later after work, running errands. I looked at my partner and noted it was Taco Tuesday at Nacho Kat, but it was getting close to their closing time. We arrived about 5-10 mins before close and I ran in and asked if it was too late to place an order for tacos and they said no problem. We were the last people out with our to go order after their close time. Our order was delicious as every other time. Such great customer service. They care that their customers always have quality food. As usual, the dining area was spotless and the casual conversation with one of their new employees while we waited for our order was awesome! There is a full bar that offers margarita specials different nights of the week. There were TV's playing sports and music playing in the background. We started off with queso.. they have both yellow and white. We went with white and it was a good choice. Everyone quickly ate it up. My mom asked for a special green salsa they keep in the kitchen but will gladly bring to your table if you ask. The restaurant is so decked out and decorated, even now during the holidays. I had a spicy margarita and it was delicious, not too spicy. I ordered the bone marrow tacos and the marrow was rich and tasty. I tried my husband's birria tacos and I was a little disappointed in them. The consomé came to us cold and it overall made me not a fan of the dish. One of our friends ordered the Al pastor dish and I can't speak to the taste but it came out on a vertical roaster and looked awesome. They did agree that it tasted better than the birria tacos. One fun thing we got to see was a fire breathing bartender show! We were the 10th birthday celebration that night and I think that speaks to how popular and fun this place. Definitely recommend it!"

Ellery D. "I walk past this place at least once a week while catching the Magazine bus and I finally got around to trying it. The ambiance is homey and the staff are nice. The food came out at a reasonable pace, too, and the flavors were good. There were a few small things I thought could be improved. One: they don't offer mix and match tacos. I was assuming they would since the rum house has a similar selection, and they allow you to order what is basically a taco flight so that you get to try three different kinds. I had noticed several interesting kinds on the menu and it was difficult to choose just one. I realize this would be more work for the chef, but their prices also aren't super low for what you're getting. Which brings me to number two: the price to portion ratio wasn't very appealing. Basically, the trio of tacos is so small, you have to get a side if you want to leave even semi full, so you are going to be spending over 20 bucks after tax and tip. I got the Baja fish tacos for 15 dollars and a side of arroz Rojo, but the meat tacos are 18 and I bet they're the same tiny size as mine were. I mean, I'm not unfamiliar with street tacos; I know they're meant to be small, but they're also usually like 3 dollars each. But like I said, they had good flavor and texture--delicious mild breaded whitefish with fresh pico, crisp slaw, and a zesty cilantro lime aioli. The rice was good--different from the CA rice I grew up with, but moist and flavorful nonetheless. So overall not a bad experience--I'm glad I tried it--but probably won't go back since I'm a fan of places with bigger portions."

While we were there, "regulars" arrived, as well as a group of high school boys who were obviously familiar with the menu, so they keep bringing them back. :)Husband & I split the bisteca torta (dressed), chicken quesadilla and rice & beans. We turned down the offer to refill the chips and salsa, even though they were really tasty. The quesadilla caught my husband off guard because it is made with chunks (not shredded) chicken, and some of it is dark meat - not his favorite - but it was plentiful and filling. The torta was very good, though we didn't use the dipping sauce. It didn't hit any taste buttons for us. But the meat was good and there was plenty of mayo, lettuce & tomato. My fav of all was the rice and beans. SUPER flavor with a kick, and I love they came in the same bowl. Nothing seems to be served as a plate - all a la carte - but still reasonably priced. Husband even had the 2-for-1 margaritas for $5, I think, and he said they packed a punch. Will definitely return when authentic Mexican is requested."

Jeremy S. "Taco Fuego (which, confusingly, is now a fried food and wing place and not a taco place), will outright steal from you. They are predatory thieves robbing tourists. Allow me to explain. So, I ordered a $15 food item and an $8 Negro Modelo beer. That's $23, right? Except they didn't include tax. No biggie, right? That's usually in the bill, but sometimes not. Except the "tax" was $2.40, or an absurd 10.2%. No other bar charged this, so even though this larceny is apprently the actual tax rate in New Orleans for food, it really should be listed. But then, there was a $4.60 "service charge"! Like, you build in a 20% tip to individual purchases and then try to hide it? Classy. I kinda laughed when I saw that there was an additional tip line. I'm like, yeah, you paid yourselves already. But wait! There's more! Then they added a $1.20 fee for paying with a credit card. Like, for real, I'm not making this up. So, my $23 purchase came up at $32.71! The food wasn't actually terrible, but avoid this scam at all costs. It's one of those things that's almost certainly illegal, but drunk tourists will overlook or otherwise ignore these things. It's not worth dying on the hill of a few bucks, but it is worth going somewhere else."

The pizza was supposed to have steak and pastor but they forgot the pastor. The pizza is 2 large tortillas (quesadilla) topped with cheese meat onions and cilantro. It was ok they missed the pizza aspect by it not having a crispy crust. The taco plate is 3 tacos with rice and beans. The pastor taco had good flavor taco was filled with meat and a generous amount of cilantro and onions. The steak was good as well and it to had a nice size portion. The chicken taco on the other hand was ok at best. No flavor even with salsa it was dry. I have been roving the earth for hours and it is now lunchtime and traffic everywhere is insane. I remembered seeing Parish Tacos on Yelp so I made a quick Toast Takeout order and headed to get my food.I am pretty sure this location was once Pontchartrain PO-Boys. That is one of my all-time favorites and I can see Parish becoming one as well. Inside is small but there are plenty of tables for dining in. The space is clean and well decorated with an awesome Pelican and the name painted on the wall. The staff were super friendly and my food was ready in the timeframe promised on the app. When I got home all I could say was wow. The food is amazing. Tacos are two to an order and are priced very reasonably for what you get. Here is the rundown of what I had:Street corn - This side was around $2 and was the best street corn I have ever had. The container said fried street corn which may have been the difference in standard street corn. But the sauce and toppings? My god. I could have eaten ten ears of this corn. Make sure you get some and drink the remaining sauce.Lengua tacos - Don't be scared of the meat. Yes, it is beef tongue but yes it is delicious. This version was small chunks which was different than the slow-cooked shredded tongue I have had in the past but it was delicious.Pork belly - This seemed like a Korean take on a taco. The belly was perfectly cooked and the kimchi made this an excellent taco.Birria - Look, if you are in the mood for a taco, get this, and don't look back. The meat was so flavorful that it didn't need the sauce it came with. But guess what? I used it anyway because it was awesome. Bang Bang shrimp tacos - This was the best shrimp taco I have ever had in my entire life. Full stop. I do not know what voodoo they did to make this taste so good but it was truly special. Kudos to you Parish Tacos. I am now craving more of this and I am still full from all the other tacos.Suffice it to say, I love this place. If you even remotely like authentic tacos, you will too.
