Ray C. "I just wanna start by saying Calandro's has THE Best beer selection out of any grocery store in Baton Rouge. I'm a beer guy so I find that they have something new I wanna try all the time, literally the only place that might top their selection is their other location haha. Calandro's is a fantastic local grocery store that carries all the essentials such as frozen foods, produce, snacks, meats, booze, and even a billion flavors of King cake as well as much more! They even have hot lunches at lunch time throughout the week! They represent the definition of a local grocery store with local items being sold there as well as the purple and gold tortilla chips you see on clip strips as well for game day snacks. The staff is extremely nice and helpful which is hard to find at some grocery stores but friendliness is never not found at Calandro's. Overall most grocery stores are just stores to me but there are few that stand out that I always enjoy going to no matter what day it is and Calandro's is one of them !"

It's a great alternative to the tourist traps found around town. Awesome place to grab some snacks, water, and a local six pack for the room. It's in walking distance from the convention center or you can take a quick uber. They also have grab and go food for a quick and easy bite. I grabbed a few brownies to take back. I wish I grabbed more."

John B. "This coffee place a bit removed from downtown New Orleans offers a small market with produce and some house beverages in robust tall boy cans that seem like more than anyone should be drinking at one time. Their fresh pastries and beverage options were robust, with most special dietary needs covered. I got their version of a pop tart, and a chai. I was reassured that I wasn't the only one there ordering a chai. Both items were very sweet, and I saw someone hauling bags of Domino's sugar in. The overall flavor of the chai, however was excellent, and I liked my fruity pastry as well. It's likely a quick stop on the way to somewhere else, though there were a few places to sit. Ordering online in advance seemed wise as I did have to wait a bit."

"I had never been to this wine shop before as I'm the type that picks up wine from my grocery store, but I was attending their anniversary party with my Krewe to provide atmosphere and pour champagne. I figured as long as I'm here, I should take a bottle home (make it two!) I described the types of varietals and regions I enjoy, and their salesperson recommended 5 bottles that I would enjoy. I took home an Israeli Gewürztraminer and a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. SO friendly, and accommodating!"

Dann F. "Guilbeau's is a pretty good little convenience store, with a bar and pizza joint attached to it. I did some work in the area not too long ago and found myself frequenting the place very quickly. It definitely strikes you after the first couple of visits as a place where everyone knows your name (or, at least, your face). The pizza is very good and you won't be waiting more than 10 mins for it to arrive. I only tried the burger once and it was ok, not great, far from bad. Would definitely recommend the pizza if you're eating in.Beer selection on the convenience store side is typical domestic products and a small wine and hard liquor selection if you're the type that just can't wait for the drive back north to purchase your alcohol."

We unfortunately only had a short amount of time and cannot wait to come back again next time we are in town! I've been spreading the word about your cozy wine shop, well done Patron Saint! This place is somewhat off the beaten path but they sure had everything we needed. I thought it was fairly priced for liquor, mixers, hard seltzer and snacks. They do a fair amount of business, too as there was quite a line to wait in to check out in. Employees were very friendly and had us in and out within a timely manner. The only thing I didn't like so much was how cramped it felt. We were bumping into others and had to try not to knock items over."

The lettuce, tomato and mayo only created a fresh and creamy bed for the shrimps but did not take away from the main feature of the sandwich. The bread itself was also substantial and did it's job to tuck in the fried shrimp goodness.Definitely consider Hank's for your late night order."

I walked in without a decipherable greeting, but who cares, I guess.Prices were as expected...with a 30% markup for my cognac, over my home liquor store. Price markings were small and a bit hard to decipher since most spirits are behind the register--so bring your glasses. The service was meh. I was originally given a short paper bag, which I surely would have dropped on the street. I asked for a plastic bag with handles, which he gave me without issue. I'm surprised he didn't struggle to hear over his loud radio squawking from behind the register."

Christopher J. "Ok, so we didn't actually go to the warehouse or buy anything from Glazer. We attended a wine tasting that was put on by them. They sent a few guys over with 7 different wines (2 whites, 2 reds, and three champagnes), as well as cheese/charcuterie trays. Before each wine was served, the main guy would come up and give a short description. Then servers came around for pourings. We were free to ask for more because there was plenty to go around.Whites:Acacia Chardonnay - I'm not a chardonnay fan or white wine fan in general, so I wasn't impressed. But it was drinkable to me. The white wine fans liked it a lot.Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc - I really like this one. It was sweet and went down smooth.Reds:Sterling Vintner's Collection Merlot - Classic merlot. Little heavy, but I went back for more of this one.Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Cabernet Savignon - Typical cab. Very good. Also got a second glass of this one.Sparkling:Chandon Rose - Bleh. I did NOT like this one. Neither did my SO. This one was very polarizing amongst the crowd. Some people really liked it, but I feel most people wanted none of it.Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label - Very good champagne. Good bubbliness, good flavor. I would drink it again.Ruinart Blanc de Blanc - This stuff was liquid gold. It was the best wine all night (and at $100 wholesale, it better have been). Everyone wanted more of this. EVERYONE. It was delicious and was the only wine they ran out of.So, I recommend Glazer based purely on their knowledge and selection."

But boy, have they figured out a great workaround that makes buying a bottle of wine even more fun than usual! They're taking social distancing to the max, but that's ok. You can't go in the shop at all, all orders are placed by phone or online. They have this cute online order form (you'll see) with a free text box where you tell them what you're looking for and they take it from there. So basically, you get sommelier service for free! I absolutely loved the hot-weather white they chose for me, so much that I'm going back for another bottle. The whole process is very easy: you order, they send you an invoice, you pay it, and they email you that it's ready. I discovered the treasure at the end of rainbow here! There were king cakes galore; shelves and tables filled the front of the store! Every flavor imaginable was available here: brownie king cakes, German chocolate king cakes and even liquor-infused king cakes (must be 21+ to purchase these). In addition to the different flavors there were different sizes of king cakes... if you wanted the large ones, they had them, if you wanted more individualized king cakes, they had them, too. Their bakery is filled with goodies, including Cupcake Bites from our very own local Cupcake Diva - "Cupcake Allie". This store is so well organized, beautiful produce section, deli, household goods and more! Don't forget to keep it local, so shop local! Mike C. "Like the name implies, the Everything Shoppe has a "little bit of everything". Personally, I like this store and patronize them somewhat frequently. If you work in the CBD or are a tourist staying in a nearby hotel, this store will likely have whatever you are looking for. They sell beer, hard liquor, sodas, power drinks, protein drinks, some grocery items, over the counter medicines, snacks, NOLA souvenirs, T-shirts, Mardi Gras items and even luggage. They even have a hot sauce & spice selection that would rival some of the larger mainstream groceries in the area.Located on Canal Street at its intersection with Magazine Street, this store has an excellent location on the border of the CBD and French Quarter. The prices here are somewhat higher than you'd find at a large retail grocer in the suburbs, but this is to be expected. However, the Everything Shoppe is open 24 hours a day, and this is a definite convenience. Furthermore, the store is always fully stocked. Once you walk inside, you will be surprised as to how big this store actually is; as it is deceptively bigger than it appears from the outside. The staff here has always been polite with me. What some people may perceive as curt employees; I see as employees focused on a large store in an area where shoplifters are rampant. You can always count on this store to be open 24/7, as they do not close for any major holidays; to include Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years Day. All in all, this store is "A-Ok"."

Don't judge those people don't need flowers anymore. I reduce reuse and recycle. (I'm pandering shamelessly to the millennials and all their over judgy nonsense!) I digress. I was also out of fireworks and no stand along the Highway. I love a non traditional celebration. If u can find someone who can get into the moment and get all off season with u all the better. Facebook foreplay before the big day was on point. No memes or themes were off limit no matter how sacred the holiday. If that's not the fat, winged cherub shooting a dart I don't know what is. My partner in crime (we are still negotiating terms of endearment and I'm anticipating extra points for this one! PS if anyone has any "appropriate terms" for this stage of the "relationship" please feel free to leave them in the comments below. She often underestimates the powers of "my people".) She secured 2 bottles of prime Beaujolais nouveau 2021. They went down like a fat kid on a see saw. It is a mutual favorite (the wine to be clear. I was forbidden from mentioning other seasonally appropriate mutual favorites on pain of death) and we both sat and sipped as we watched the sun go down. One could suppose the passing of a step mom and grueling several weeks and covid recovery and work and stress over meeting her people and indecision on a fixed plan for the big day and kids in town and all underfoot and the cold and general fall lingering malaise would completely derail this occasion. Nothing could be further from the truth (another possible epitaph for the author. I'm on fire for 3 am). Good times and tears were had by all. It created a bittersweet parting/starting moment that was very pleasant on the palate. It was a brief "date" but we savored each moment. Lots has happened over the last several weeks. We are navigating the rapids together, me at the helm looking the part and her on the oars. I know I have a yelp "following" and I didn't want to disappoint on the big day. Working on bringing it every day because you never know when you'll be yelp reviewed. Peace out"
