Angelo Brocato

The new Louis Armstrong Airport (MSY) IS AMAZING and day and night compared to the dreary old airport of 50+ years!Plus, there's always live music!The food offerings are also much, much better.When I saw the Brocato's stand I was elated. Brocato's, as I call it, is a New Orleans Italian bakery/pastry shop mainstay on outer Carrollton Ave in the Mid-City area. The pastries are outstanding, and they always have incredibly delicious freshly made cannoli.Believe me, it's worth a trip and sometimes the line is out the door.So finding it at the airport was wonderful. They have a number of pastry/cookie and sandwich options, but I was hungry for Gelato.Admittedly, as in other reviews the service is really off. I walked by twice and noone was there... then when someone was there that person was abrupt and very disinterested in their job. Poor service.Not good, Brocato!I ordered a pistachio Gelato and it was splendid, fresh and tasty. So, that was good.If they indeed monitor the service this could be a gem for treats and the airport... imagine munching on a delicious cannoli on your flight home while other passengers gauk and drool!Maybe?!?

Was extremely poor customer service. The staff working was more interested in talking to each other and then would treat customers very rudely. Many people were waiting in line and proceeded to leave because the staff ignored helping them.

Ordered a sandwich and a muffin. Got the sandwich, and a different muffin but I had already walked away. It worked out because the blueberry muffin is awesome and I was super happy with it.The muffuletta, I'm not sure. I took one bite and I'm unsure if I should eat it. It looks pretty old considering the middle is bright pink and the outside is gray. I think I'll pass on that, but it was worth a shot.

The chocolate chip cookies are stale.I wanted to try one and the team member said they were good cookies. They're not. I took one bite and tossed it.

HAVE AGAIN: Pretty good, but not like most, stracciatella ice cream (not gelato).

The individual scooping and serving the delicious Gelato is my reason for the great rating. I travel frequently and am rarely impressed by airport service. She was a definite exception. She was positive, attentive, and joyful as she interacted with my kids and even stated, "I love my job!" I love people like her!

I love Brocato's Carrollton; the owners should be beside themselves with how the MSY Delaware North location is diluting their reputation for great food and terrific service. Today, the people in line in front of me wanted gelato, and were eyeing cups of delicious looking pistachio and chocolate in the counter display. "We don't have chocolate today". "What about pistachio?" "We don't have pistachio today". Next flavor, same. Next .... Customer's wife: "Well what do you have". "Vanilla." Couldn't you have told us that before?" "I don't know." My turn. Display counter has literally hundreds of prepared sandwiches. But there appears to be NO MENU ANYWHERE, and not a single label on a sandwich. I even looked online, which I had plenty of time for while the helper was disappointing the previous customers. After pointing and asking "what is that one?" I ordered a sausage & egg breakfast sandwich, and replied yes, please, warm it up. There was one person in line behind me, and good helper might have pointed to each pile and said "that is ___, and that is a _____, etc. to everyone's benefit but it didn't occur to her.I've read other reviews of this location complimenting the counter staff, so who you get from Delaware North airport service may be a crap shoot. All the more reason to provide as many menus and "how to" boards as possible.Now for the food. The sandwich was a roll, a round sausage patty, and an egg patty. Not a condiment in sight, and of course the helper didn't mention anything. I saw nothing behind the counter. On the plus side, the sausage had only 1 piece of ground bone and it didn't break a tooth .The muffaletta might have been a better choice. Next time I want a breakfast sandwich at MSY Starbucks is a better choice. 2 stars because it was edible and the other customers did get some kind of gelato.

The hours are 3-9pm but when I went at various times the woman working claimed they were closed and when they appeared open she told me that she "was not serving customers at the moment." This could be a flaw in the hours but the fact that she was working but was refusing to serve customers meant I took my business elsewhere.

4 Sep , 410 pm, at Louis Armstrong Airport, Concourse B, I stopped at this Angelo Brocato food stand as I saw they have Raisin Oatmeal Cookies. There was only one employee behind the counter. She was making breakfast sandwiches (like the equivalent of a egg McMuffin). I stood there several minutes, she did not say a word to me . She was approximately 5 feet away looking right at me and just kept making the breakfast sandwiches. Never said I'll be with you in a second sir, or anything, not a word. Finally I asked "Mam, could I get an Oatmeal Cookie?" She never said word , just kept making sandwiches. Finally she walked over and said " What do you Want?" (I almost told her forget it and walked off as I'm a disabled veteran and I had to get something to eat as I was starting to feel ill) I she finally said "you wanted oatmeal cookie " I told her two oatmeal cookies please Mam. She rang it up, handed me the bag and never said a word. I told her Thankyou Mam, and she still didn't reply. That was about the rudest customer service I've had in years. I was way polite and respectful to her. I always treat people the same way I would like to be treated. She made it very clear through her actions she was not happy about having to serve me. I've never done business with a Angelo Brocato and I would like to think this is not acceptable behavior within their company. My wife went by the stand a little later, and there was a family standing at the counter waiting to get some service. There was now no one in the food stand at all. My wife came back awhile later and the same family was still standing there and looked a little agitated maybe due to there still was not anyone behind the counter to take their order. I definitely won't ever conduct business with any Angelo Brocato.

After I contacted the business, I was advised the business does not operate its own storefront in the airport. Rather, another company operates the various storefronts. The general manager of this company contacted me and offered to refund my purchase. He was very friendly and professional and aclnowledged steps will be taken to prevent this from happening in the future.
