"First of all the food is so wonderful and delicious. You have to try the bread with garlic it can be a meal in itself alone! The service is amazing our waitress was so kind and helpful with the selection on our food . I order a sensation grilled chicken salad and I had to take it home it was so big. The place is amazing and good for fine dining or with the family dinner. I will be going back for sure."
"Yikes, talk about some harsh reviews! Maybe we're simply easy to please, but I LOVED this place. Normally we're El Patron fans, but Jalapeño's is a bit closer to home and we stopped by on a whim passing by. Parking was wide open, the restaurant was decently quiet (maybe four other groups dining while we were there?), the service was fantastic, the raspberry top shelf margarita with sugar on the rim was one of the best I've ever had, and the food was DELICIOUS!I'd say this restaurant experience was on par with El Patron, or even better, and I'd be thrilled if they offered a Taco Tuesday - I forgot to ask. If they do, we'd probably skip El Patron altogether. We'll definitely be back!"
"I ordered the shrimp and grits. Very good hot and lots of large shrimps. Grits has corn in them. Overall very tasty and hot."
"This place is a gem. A little piece of reading perfection. The owners are quick to help and know their inventory."
"Agave Blue hit the spot! The atmosphere is nice, there is plenty of parking, the service was great, and the food was tasty. We came in late on a Saturday night and they were packed with people watching the game on one of the many tvs. We were quickly seated and given a basket of chips with a carafe of salsa yum! The salsa is delicious. The waitress was quick and patient, when I was feeling a little indecisive. We ended up ordering fajitas with steak and shrimp, a burrito and a cup of tortilla soup. The flavor on everything was delicious. My fajitas were very hot temperature wise. The burrito was cold, I don't know why because everything came out very quick after ordering. They have al pastor, which isn't like the pastor back home that's cooked on the spit, but it was still good. The fajitas were a definite hit, and I will definitely be back for more.We didn't order cocktails, but their margaritas look fantastic, and they have a happy hour ! We will have to come back for that."
"This place is a gem. A little piece of reading perfection. The owners are quick to help and know their inventory."
"Food was a 10/10!!! Fries were perfectly seasoned. Wrap had a good amount of salmon in it. I added crab meat and made it so much more delicious. For the price, it was great. Food came out fast. Everything tasted fresh. I had the berry tea. Not too sweet which is a good thing. The Arnold Palmer was just right as well."
"Stopped by on a whim and loved it. People inside were friendly and the food was delicious. Will be back."
"Try this! New hotspot for fresh ice cream, gelato and more! I had the butter pecan waffle cone and husband got a creamy rich coffee scoop in a cup. Reasonable prices and clean. Great pit stop coming and going from lafreniere park.Yum!"
"Still needs some work, nice place happy people. Slow, slow slow. 3 diners in before all had ordered before I walked in over 20 minutes on eggs, hash browns soggy, omelette was bland no seasoning or garnish. Sorry. I am hopeful but I will wish you good luck"
"Taking into account our family's size, this was a great option for an affordable, safe place to stay on a trip to New Orleans. With taxes and fees, our three night (thurs-sun) stay came in at $555. Good luck finding a place that sleeps 8 for anything even remotely close to that in New Orleans. We found the accommodations to be adequate. Everything except the floor was clean upon arrival. All linens and towels are provided, as well as basic cooking equipment (coffee maker, cookie sheet, pots/pans, toaster, knives, plates, cups, etc.). There is a full sized fridge (with ice maker), oven, dishwasher, and microwave. There is even a small TV in the main living area. The best part is all the alligators!!! My kids were absolutely mesmerized by the alligators that circled our cabin. Not being from LA, we were hoping to see maybe one or two alligators during our stay, but from the minute we walked the bridge to the cabin there were multiple alligators present almost constantly. I imagine they have learned to wait around the cabins because of all the fishing, fish cleaning, and fish filleting that goes on at the cabins. The ladies fishing next to us didn't seem to find the alligators quite as pleasant as we did ;)The queen bed and bunk beds were comfortable enough. My poor boys who had to sleep on the pull out couch, though. ROUGH. By the last night they were debating sleeping on the hard floor. Speaking of the floor, it was filthy. You could not visibly see any dirt, but we all had black bottomed feet after walking on it barefoot. Guests are expected to sweep the floor before checking out, and this may be happening, but I can tell you it had probably been weeks since that floor had seen a mop. The bayou is beautiful. It was lovely to sit outside on the screened in porch and watch the boats go by. We initially booked cabin #1, but when we arrived there was something wrong with it and they had changed the reservation to cabin #13. Honestly, there isn't much of a difference between them. No cabin is too close to it's neighbor, so I really don't think you can go wrong. It was about 25 minutes to the French Quarter. One day we drove and parked at the Algiers ferry terminal (20 min drive - free street parking) and took the ferry across. The state park feels remote and deep in nature when you're in it, but it's actually right off a main highway with all the conveniences close by. Excellent! Here's the thing: this is not a hotel, it's a state park. If it were just me and my husband, I would not think it was worth it to spend $185 a night to stay here. For the remainder of our trip we stayed in airbnbs for a similar nightly cost that were vastly nicer, more comfortable, and didn't make us sweep the entire house before we left. But for 8 people, 20 minutes from New Orleans, the price simply could not be beat. We enjoyed our experience and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on a return trip to the area. A couple of helpful notes:1. The office closes at 5pm on weekdays. We called in advance to let them know we would be later than that and they told us the key would be in the cabin for us and we could check in in the morning. This turned out not to be the case and I nearly had a panic attack thinking about finding another place to stay that night and losing all the food we had in coolers in our car. We caught a lucky break and it worked out in the end, but my advice would be not to chance it - when they say they close at 5pm, they mean it. Be sure to check in BEFORE closing.2. There is a coffee maker but not coffee filters. 3. One dishwasher pod is provided. Bring extra dish soap.4. There was no soap in the bathroom. Bring your own just in case.5. The prior guests may or may not have used the pans to cook the fish they caught, and may or may not have soaked the adequately afterwards. Err on the safe side, wash the pans before using.6. Bring a sponge.7. The knives are blunt enough to be a safety hazard. Bring your own if you plan on cutting a watermelon (or something).8. A swiffer mop is not a bad idea."
"Enjoyed bringing my kids to this restaurant when it was previously open. The restaurant was so unique with its decor, Koi pond, etc.Upon arriving, we were pleasantly greeted and seated quickly. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. The buffet offered a large variety of choices, and everything was replenished quickly. Restaurant was clean and comfortable. I was especially pleased with the wide variety of shrimp dishes offered. Of course all the other staples of the buffet were present as well. They had a nice offering of sushi, salad, desserts, and of course, a grill where you could choose your items and have a chef prepared for you on the spot."

"Don't walk, run to try this place. Genuinely, pleasantly surprised by my meal here. We landed at St. Roch Market by happenstance like most happy accidents. I saw a couple eating something that looked so good it peaked my interest so I asked them what it was. It was some sort of taco, with Mac&cheese, and chicken. The couple highly recommended it, but when I saw the menu I got excited to see oxtail. (Being the good Latina I am, I had to try it.) Thank goodness I did!! It came with two sides, and was a huge dish. I also didn't expect the oxtail to be in like a little yummy bun that you had to pull apart. It was cheesy and flavorful. The sauce Chef B serves it with, just ties it all together. This place is a must try."
"While I've never met a stationary store I didn't like, my Son David feels the same way about stores selling rocks and stones. Lucky for both of us, Nola Rock Co. and Papier Plume are just a few doors down from each other. We wandered in and David immediately started chatting with one of the store employees regarding various fascinating parts of the inventory. Nola Rock is quite a stunning place to walk through and we all enjoyed our time here. As it turns out, David is more of a natural rock guy vs. stones that are cut. So as his interest waned a bit, Gayle and I were admiring some really cool (and expensive) stuff like the lamps. We left with a mental note about that."
"We rented out the entire property for a party. This is a gorgeous property. The rooms were so clean and elegant. All of our friends absolutely loved how charming the place was. The staff was so friendly and worked with us on what we wanted to do for the party. We really appreciated how flexible they were. They went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied. I recommend this place if you want an authentic New Orleans place to stay that's elegant, personal, and away (but close and easy to get to) from the busy quarter. The location is in mid city with a street car stop right in front of the hotel, and walking distance from a few food places. Extremely well located to get around."
"This was our 3rd visit before actually being seated. The first two visits had wait times over an hour each visit so we went elsewhere locally. On this visit, we were seated instantly at the bar due to limited seating available in the dining room. The bar service was great, quick, and easy! I ordered the chicken and waffles which was made to order and provided that perfect balance of salt and sweet. The cayenne butter added a nice touch. Coffee was refilled without asking. I would recommend getting reservations even for two if you want to dine in. Once seated, you will enjoy a good meal. Dine local! Enjoy."
"My first time here and it was delicious. We were well taken care of by the staff and management. The roasted Brussels Sprouts were amazing and I even ordered a Volcano. Yummy!I tried two different types of sake. Very tasty. We will be back!Great ambiance and vibe right in the heart of Downtown Covington."
"Best self guided tour ever. And it's free? GTFO! What a great way to spend an hour or so learning about various products and even better, sampling some of the smallest cocktails you'll ever have in your life. Keep in mind the idea isn't to get drunk, but to maybe venture out of your comfort cocktail zone. I think they have a paid cocktail tasting tour/class too, I made a reservation for 12:15p on a Saturday and it was a pretty good time to go. It started getting crowded as the day went on. You basically take the elevator up to the 3rd floor then work your way through a maze of exhibits and move down to the 2nd and 1st floors for more. You'll learn about bitters! And you will crave bitters afterwards! You can smell the various dry ingredients of bitters too. They had some containers that had the various ingredients in their brand of bitters (I don't feel like trying to spell it here). It's also an active distillery, and you can notice the smell as soon as you walk in. I wish they could get THAT smell in a candle! The workers will gladly answer questions about their processes and how it all works. Awesome crew! The gift shop alone is worth stopping in. They might just have something rare if you're lucky and strike out looking for stuff around town. A lot of stuff, you can find at other places too, but it's fun to shop here! Why not leave with a Weller's Hoodie? And if you get the urge to poop, these are probably the nicest bathrooms around! Holy crap (literally). It's also great for number 1 as well! Restrooms on all 3 floors as well, so you can try them all if you had a rough day!I left with a great feeling, I learned a lot about cocktails, and I now have a fondness for a well crafted Sazerac!"
"My favorite chicken spot. Always friendly and cool. Just make sure to place your order over the phone. The wait goes a bit quicker. How would I know? Well, I eat there about once a week, so that I limit my chicken intake. If it were up to me, I'd eat there 3x a week. Even though I live up the street from Popeyes, I mean literally 2 mins away, I'll drive that extra 5 mins to Wing Snack Express. They haven't failed me yet and I don't plan on it. I like support locally, black owned businesses. Keep it going!"
"This is a great place to go to get all types of weird crazy goodness. This is the land of geekdom and I love it. Lots of stuff from back in the day definitely check it out.Once I got a Women in the War from their first campaign back in the 40s lunch pail. Now tell me that's not a random goodness buy."
"China House is a family owned and operated Chinese restaurant. Their family is originally from Hong Kong but they moved to Lousiana in the 70's and opened China House soon after. The owners still work here, cooking some of the best Chinese food in the area. Most of the people who eat here are regulars and have been loyal customers for many years. I've been eating here since I was a kid and have many fond memories of this place. Whenever I eat at any Chinese restaurants this is the place I compare them to. They were basically one of my first comfort foods, aside from my mom's cooking. They're located in a strip mall on Manhattan, next to a daiquiri shop {dessert, anyone? :P}. The atmosphere is casual dining, but they get lots of to-go orders too. I've always loved the bamboo walkway that greets you upon entering and exiting the restaurant. They have two large dining rooms, but are still able provide an intimate atmosphere for dine-in customers complete with classic chinese decor such as lanterns, parasols, Maneki Neko (Fortune Cat), and Buddha statues. The food has always been made from local, fresh ingredients. I have tried pretty much every dish on their menu over the years, although I've accumulated a few favorites. As far as appetizers go the wonton soup here is excellent, and the fried wontons that come with the soups are made in house; the BBQ Pork is also very good- I usually ask for extra BBQ sauce (this isn't the traditional American BBQ sauce) on the side to dip my fried wontons in and pour some over my fried rice- it's an amazing little secret I've picked up after many years. As far as entrees go, if you're dining in I highly recommend the Sizzling Wo Ba. It's a combination of beef, chicken, shrimp and mixed veggies brought out hot and poured on to a sizzling cast iron platter at your table. If you're getting to-go the Shrimp Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Pepper Steak are other great options. The Cho Cho's and Beef Fried Rice are other family favorites. They give you the traditional fortune cookie with your check but be sure to ask for an almond cookie, they're a unique and delicious treat! If you're not stuffed when you leave, you can conveniently grab a daiquiri before hopping in your car and leaving the parking lot. Give them a try if you're hungry in Harvey."

Went there for New Years Eve and was simply amazing. Server was always present and food was amazing. I could just eat the village bread as a meal. The filet Palermo was the best steak I ever had. Topped off with the tiramisu.

Small restaurant in a strip mall. Very busy for a weekday lunch. Ordered to go.Food was almost ready when I arrived. Server obviously had her hands full with to go and tables, still very pleasant. Ordered a kids beef burrito meal ($8.99) and an adult Enchiladas La Loca with green sauce ($11.99). Both entrees were very good in flavor and ample in portions. Chips and salsa came with the order, and the salsa had a nice kick to it.To go charge of 99 cents was added, which I think is reasonable, since I"ve worked in the restaurant business and know the cost of to go items is not negligible. In fact, I'd rather pay a to go charge than have the cost of the items on the menu go up and I have to pay an inflated price because of to go orders (and Uber Eats, and Door Dash...). Now, it would have been nice if there had been TWO sets of plasticware included. We will be back for more to go.

Solid lunch and brunch place, a live band was playing. It was a little too loud outside for my liking but they were a lively bunch. Shared a muffuletta that was spot on. Getting drinks took a little longer than I would have preferred but overall a good experience.

We stopped in here for an early supper on a Sunday night. We were seated right away. The chips and salsa were on point. I ordered 3 Tacos, added diced tomatos, and the Tortilla Soup and tasted the Bean Soup. -Barbacoa Taco: On the dry and tough side; wouldn't order again. -Pork Belly Taco: Dry, awkward and too salty; wouldn't order again. -Carnitas Taco: Delicious, Tender, tasty and moist; would order again. -Tortilla Soup: Way too greasy; wouldn't order again. -Bean Soup: This was made with black beans and was thick enough that it could be used to dip chips into. It was tasty and good and I would order it again.

Delicious!!! I ordered shrimp and crawfish pasta with hot lemon pepper wings and a white chocolate bread pudding. The food was made to order so allow time for that but it did not take long. The food was delicious. The bread pudding was a good 5 pounds lol. Very big, enough for a family of four to eat off and very good! Can't wait to go back.

Came in today and got their special of the day - the spaghetti. It was really good. Packed with flavor and very satisfying. Also had the mixed vegetables that were great as well. The service was great, everyone was kind and welcoming. I got mines to go, but there's a decent amount of seating inside. It's a very chill place to go to and relax while you eat. I'll definitely be back. I keep hearing about these seafood egg rolls, which I'll get on my next visit. Please go out and support these good people.

"Business owner is really nice. He made a lot of the masks. They are the best I've seen in NOLA. Amazing selection!"
"I came in for a late lunch/early dinner. It's in a strip mall with loads of parking. Inside is nice, typical older mexican restaurant feel..kind of dated, but clean. Chips and salsa were set down. I ordered guacamole, and a carne asada burrito combo. The guacamole was just ok... it had some flavor, but not a whole lot. The burrito came with mole sauce on it (love that) rice and beans. The meat was ok, a little over salted... the mole was real good. I liked the rice with peas and a little potato. Beans were pretty average. Service was a little slow. But overall, ok. I'm giving 4 stars, but it was more 3.5."
"You get what you pay for and this place even offers a bit more. I had several friends that worked in this establishment and for the price and location its hard to beat if all you need is a place to sleep and keep your stuff. This is more of a hostel type environment than a bed & breakfast except you get the option of private rooms. Everything is really basic here and there are no TV's or telephones in the room (if you're visiting New Orleans why would you need those things anyway?). Compared to most other hotels and guesthouses this place is a good value but it certainly isn't anything fancy. They have a small pool and usually there's an interesting cast of characters around to make friends with."
"The staff is friendly and the brunch is amazing. Had an amazing club sandwich yesterday in their new portion of the restaurant that's by the water -"the back porch" which is absolutely beautiful. They've been having bands on the weekends. It's been a great time. Definitely will be back! It's a great place to relax and hangout with friends!"
"Ribs were good, portions were generous. The special was a housemade sausage patty, like a sausage burger... wow so good! Sauce was great, just a little bit of kick, excellent complement to the sausage. Friendly service, made me glad to come back again soon :)"
"BJ's Lounge... it's simply The Awesome.Oh did you want to know the recipe for The Awesome?Just throw in equal parts:- dark/divey basement-like atmosphere (while not being icky/dirty)-fantastic music (hello, punk night with DJ Christion playing stuff I haven't heard in ages)-comfy bar stools -nice/fast barkeepSeason with all the cheap a$$ drinks you want!Distinctly Bywater 'phere... like another favorite, J & J's (uh, is there a relation, Mr. or Ms. J?)"
"Had to hit up Walmart in Boutte and saw that Boot T's was open. Last time I had come through here (my buddy has a place nearby but I am only there every so often), this was not a business so I figured why not check them out? There was a menu item that caught my eye immediately, the surf n turf po boy. This had roast beef with the gravy like they serve up debris in most Nola area spots, and then fried shrimp. I got mine dressed up as I always do. While I loved the beef and I loved the shrimp, I'm not sure I loved them together. Just felt like too much going on at once. I do believe though that had I gotten either a fried shrimp po boy or a roast beef po boy that I'd have absolutely loved either of those. Tried a sip of my friend Val's frozen beverage which was also delicious. The server/bartender we had was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was cozy and (albeit a bit plain) a nice space. I'd like to see what it's like when they're jamming in there, but we went on a mid week afternoon so it was only a few tables. Would absolutely go back - it definitely Didn't Suck!"
"My alltime favorite Mexican food. Bean dip is amazing. Guacamole fresh. Food comes out fast and hot and all the servers are very attentive and quick.I've never had a bad meal!"
"Walking around French Quarters and trying all sorts of foods. My daughter wanted a slice of pizza so we popped our heads in--there were no customers and the bartender (who was also likely the only server) greeted us quickly and offered menus. We advised him we were only there for a slice of pizza to go. He was very friendly and gave her the options of cheese pizza or pepperoni. The pizza was in a case in the back of the store and we could see him grab a slice out for her and put it on a paper plate. She loved it and enjoyed her pizza as we continued our walk!"

"While in New Orleans for Christmas, we were trying to find a place for lunch and being a Christmas day, almost ever thing from Walmart to Subway were closed. We could hardly find anything open, not even a McD . We decided to drive through the streets of Gretna to search for any open restaurants., It didn't take long, we spotted an "open" sign-shining bright red and a glory to our eyes! Immediately pulled our car into the shopping complex and went inside to confirm it was indeed open. We were extremely hungry to try anything new so we quickly ordered some fried rice and spring rolls. It took some time for the order to be ready, then came in a HUMONGOUS portion of fried rice. The vegetables were not too fancy - just onions, broccoli, capsicum but enough for an average rice fried rice. Both the fried rice and spring roll were extremely hot and freshly made. I had never even thought in my dreams I would be eating such a fulfilling lunch on a Christmas day at a restaurant in Gretna! Even though I ordered medium, the quantity was so much that my friends and I packed the remaining for dinner and oh boy, we did enjoy the dinner too.Definitely recommend this restaurant! Forget about the ambiance and everything else - this restaurant deserves Five stars for simply tasty food and great hospitality."
"I stopped here for lunch with a friend. This is a gem. From the sweet lady waiting on us to the delicious food i feel this will be my new spot. The restaurant itself is very cute and clean it is spacious and painted nicely. I could definitely see myself becoming a regular here. I got the steak tacos with rice and beans, my steak could've used more seasoning and it was a little overcooked but everything else on the plate was perfect. The service was good enough to where i will give them another shot. Queso was delicious , chips warm and the salsa was so good and fresh."
"Smoke Sum is the best smoke shop in Nola. Kobe hooked us up and was super helpful. There is so much selection at the shop. Great prices and deals."
