classy clean restaurant with unique & tasty dishes! to preface this review, my friend and i visited in november 2023. the menu is seasonal, so some of the items we had are no longer available. we ordered the butternut squash and split two entrees, the steak frites and the pomegranate chicken. we finished dinner with a dessert that they called the "cheese plate." mish mish's dishes are definitely very unique -- they play with textures and flavors in a way i haven't seen from other restaurants in philly. while my friend and i enjoyed the surprises, i can see how others may not be a fan of the unique flavors. the butternut squash was rich and creamy, the pomegranate chicken was perfectly tender. the steak frites were more basic, but perfectly cooked and satisfying. the "cheese plate" was a rollercoaster for the tongue. the combination of sweet and salty flavors with soft and crunchy textures kept us on our toes. it tasted kind of like a ferrero rocher with jam & a kick of salt from the cheese. we still don't know what to make of the dessert... but everything was delicious! for drinks, i had the cherry spritz and my friend the artichoke. neither were up my alley as they were more bitter than i expected, still fun to try.the service was outstanding. our waitress was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. even though the food is definitely on the pricier side, i can't wait to visit again!

My boyfriend and I came here for a belated Valentine's Day weekend and we were so excited to try the food! Mish Mish has been on our list for quite a while. As soon as we walked in, the ambiance was 10/10. The restaurant has a cozy yet chic and intimate vibe which was perfect for a Valentine's Day dinner. The staff was also very prompt, kind, and welcoming. We started with the fried string cheese which was a fun dish to order. We also got the eggplant, the cod, and the squash. The eggplant was not great. It had a weird tasting tomato sauce and the texture was mushy. It came with some sourdough bread which was great. The squash was covered in another weird sauce that was overly salty and really ruined the dish in my opinion. I liked the cod. It was buttery and perfectly cooked. However, it didn't blow us away. We finished with a totally average chocolate cake that tasted similar to one I could've bought at a grocery store. I am giving only three stars because the food was really just okay.. for the cost of this meal we could've gotten a really nice and delicious dinner at another upscale restaurant. The owner of Mish Mish is a former food critic so he has clearly tasted a lot of the cream of the crop meals in Philadelphia, however, this was not it. Thinking back, my favorite part of the meal was the side of bread accompanying the eggplant dish not any of the actual dishes. The couple next to us was seated right as we were finishing our meal and they asked us what we liked best.. we struggled to come up with an answer which is not a good sign! We likely will not be coming back unless there is a large revamp to the menu.

What a vibe! The restaurant has a simple and clean interior (we really liked the limewash walls), with seating that surrounds the center working station for the staff & each seat provides a great view of the kitchen. Plenty of seating outside as well...if you can strike a good day of weather, I would recommend trying to make a reservation for outdoor seating, only because the inside is tight and can get a little loud. We also loved their music playlist - you can check it out on Spotify...we've been using it lately during our own dinner preparation at home. Service was great - very attentive and informative. They were helpful with selecting dishes and wine. Our favorite interaction was when it came time to order dessert, where we were informed that the vagueness of the desserts was "intentional," to spark more conversation if interested. Naturally, we needed to hear more & we were sold on both options. The "cheese plate" dessert was an interesting play on creating single bites that combined flavors of cheese, jam, and nuts. It was interesting to say the least - one of those things you won't find anywhere else. Very savory & cheese forward, so if that's not your thing, then I would opt for the second option (which in our case was a neopolitan cake). All of the food was good! I personally, was much more interested in the small plates, so we ordered a handful of different options. Plates that stood out:- Fried string cheese: another dish that we haven't found anywhere else. A fun interpretation of mozz sticks, but served more in a funnel cake form and a delicious marinara dipping sauce. - The little tomatoes were amazing as well! A creative execution of a Panzanella salad.Very excited to go back, and in a sea of incredible options to choose from in Passyunk, Mish Mish has quickly risen to one of our favorites in the neighborhood.

This is such a cute restaurant!!! I immediately fell in love with the ambiance! This little restaurant is located in South Philly. I came when the weather was nice out so all the windows were open and I loved the vibe! AMBIANCE: The restaurant setting is intimate and the noise level is just right - not too quiet where you're afraid people can hear your conversations and not too loud where you can't hear the person/people you are dining with. Ughh I can't get over this place! They literally hit the nail on the head with ambiance! Even the bathroom matches the restaurant's vibe - they literally have a Mish Mish candle that has a woodsy/natural scent. The bathroom is super clean too, which I always appreciate.SERVICE:The waiters and waitresses are super sweet here! I also appreciated how it seemed like they were all friends. They created a very welcoming environment. FOOD:I didn't really know what to expect because this place is labeled as Mediterranean, but it doesn't fit into the Mediterranean I'm used to (i.e. mezze with hummus and baba gannoush, chicken/lamb plates, etc). Despite not being certain what kind of food this place served, I was absolutely enamored by the meal. The menu changes from time to time, according to our waitress; however, there are staples- such as the baby octopus, which I highly recommend trying!! I loved this dish! It wasn't overly salty. The octopus was cooked perfectly and came with a red sauce. The steak was yummy, but standard. It was cooked medium rare, which is the way I prefer my steak to be cooked. I thought it was interesting that they didn't ask how we wanted our steak cooked, but it turned out fine. The mushrooms were the star if this dish! Added a nice umami note to the meal. The scallops were also delicious!! It came with a buttery corn sauce on the side. I would have never thought to pair corn and scallops, but it worked very well. The portions were pretty small- the waitress recommended getting 5-6 dishes for two people. I would definitely come back again! Loveeeee love love the atmosphere and setting :,)

Very nice and enjoyable dinner experience! This small restaurant has a great neighborhood feel. Service is very friendly and attentive. The decor is minimal and the focus is on service and excellent food. There is a relatively small menu made up of small plates. They recommend ordering several for sharing. Lots of vegetarian options. Everything we had was delicious. The Armenian string cheese was excellent, the asparagus had a really great flavor. Definitely recommend giving them a try.

Food was very expensive. Maybe one of my most underwhelming expensive meals in Philly. Food is very mid and didn't really have a single memorable item. Crab dip was liquidity, fennel salad was overdressed with creamy dressing. Such a disappointing experience. Definitely wouldn't go back or suggest to anyone. Waitress was not friendly but rest of staff seemed nice. Honestly felt like I was being taken advantage of with the food/pricing which is not a good feeling.

Wow, the food here was amazing! Also, the server was very friendly and helpful with the menu. I have been close to 300 restaurants in Philadelphia, but I rarely write a review online. I was so impressed by Mish Mish that I felt impelled to write this review. There were four of us in our group and we decided to get almost everything on the menu to share. Nothing disappointed; quite the opposite. The ambiance is small and intimate. I can see where it could get a little noisy, but it was fine on the Friday night that we were there. The prices are a tad steep for the quantity, but the quality makes it worth it. As you can tell, I highly recommed that you go to Mish Mish!
