"A surprise finding for delicious sushi rolls. Came here for dinner. Didn't have to wait long for a table. We got some spicy edamame and a few rolls. The OMG roll was baked and delicious but my favorite of the night was the salmon lover roll. The ingredients and flavors were so light and refreshing. Would definitely go for that roll again! The place was busy but overly noisy, the staff sas efficient and friendly."

"Our first meal in Scottsdale. Interesting this restaurant is actually from San Francisco. But we'v never visited that one even though we'v visited SF many times. We requested a counter seating but the host girl forgot about it. So we had to ask to be moved to the counter. Minor issue but the dinner experience was good enough. Menu was usual Japanese and Asian fusion items. Not gluten friendly but they offer tamari at least! We ordered quite a few items to share. We had fresh oysters, tuna tartare crispy rice, shishito peppers, salmon sashimi, mushroom miso soup, uni sushi, toro tartare, scallop and mushroom skewers as tapas. Also steak and whole Branzino as entrees. The food was delicious and fresh in healthy portions. The cocktails were tasty and strong. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive the entire time. We liked the food and service but the ambiance was so crowded and noisy. A decent Japanese restaurant but don't think we will visit again next time. Mainly I am not a fan of overpriced Japanese food. I don't drink most of the time now so I can't eat raw when I don't drink alcohol. Still a solid dinner experience to start our Arizona trip nicely! Ps. Valet disappeared when we came out, complimentary valet so they leave as they please?!"

"In a non descript strip mall, you'll find this excellent sushi restaurant, and I ended up here last week after a car maintenance appointment.I definitely like really good pieces of fresh sushi, and this place did not disappoint and made me pretty happy.I sat at the sushi bar, and the sushi chef helped to serve me. I first started with the blue fin, and this was very tasty. I don't really put any soy sauce on my pieces of fish as I enjoy it raw with a smear of wasabi.Next, I had the nanbanzuke. When I asked the chef what this is, he described it as kind of like chicken nuggets. I don't know thats how I would have described it, but it was tasty. It's really a marinated fish of your choice that has a coating that's been fried or perhaps pan-fried. This felt like a comfort dish, and I could have used some rice with it.The last thing I had was tuna belly, and that was just delicious! And I loved how it was fresh and a little fatty in texture.Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be back when I am in the area and want some nice pieces of sushi!"

We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The waitress was very nice and checked on us regularly. It was a nice evening. Great spot for a special occasion."

"It had been almost 4 years since I last dined here. We weren't too hungry so decided to grab a light bite. The menu is very different than what I remember. They offer a happy hour menu all day Monday thru Thursdays and 11:30-4 pm on Fridays. Hubs always orders spicy tuna roll $5.95, and I ordered a Halloween roll $7.95 ( shrimp salad, cucumber, masago and avocado) it was light and tasty especially with the sauce that was on the side. We also got a free order of gyoza with Yelp check in. It ended up being a very cheap lunch! The regular prices seemed very reasonable too. Service was very friendly and fast. Would definitely come again when we have a bigger appetite as I want to try their ramen and other rolls."

"This was such an amazing sushi place!I was picked up by a coworker and he recommended this place, highly. We walked in and it was such a nice modern restaurant with a very welcoming staff. We sat down and started to look over the large and amazing menu. They have a great deal for $31 which includes a Asahi Beer Tower and two appetizers! This is a huge deal and I was impressed with the price. We ordered that along with fried calamari and spicy tuna tartar. Both were amazing. We then ordered some Yakitori, some great rolls, sashimi, and really good drinks! The waitress was awesome and the food was top notch. I'll be adding this place to my list for when I come back here!"

"Although Gosan is priced higher than other poke spots, the fish and marinades have greater quality. The menu consists of sashimi, rolls, and poke bowls. There are preselected combinations but I always enjoyed making my own. The staff have always been kind and the scoops are generous. =POKE=There were standard bases of white rice, brown rice and salad. Besides the plain versions, the fish came with either a mayo, sweet or spicy marinade. The hot spicy albacore and tuna had a red chili forward profile that brought in the heat. Hawaiian tuna was a mixture of salty and sweet. The creamy wasabi tuna was mayo forward and surprisingly sweet, not my favorite as the wasabi fails to stand out. The scallops are my personal favorite as these plump mollusks soak up the sweet creamy sauce well. I was happy to see a decent selection of vegetables and fruits. Seaweed salad and imitation crab weren't priced extra. Avocado cost more to add on. Although there are sauces available, I wouldn't recommend adding on more given the high liquid content and flavorful marinades already. The sauces primarily had a soy or sriracha base. Very fast service and a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Seafood has always been fresh and I love the ingenuity of the marinades."

"Met up with some friend for dinner on a Saturday night and Akita Sushi was the placed we picked. We were a party of 6 and got seated pretty quickly.Found out pretty quickly that it was all you can eat and got to work on placing my orders. I went with a phily roll, tuna roll, rainbow roll, oshinko roll and some crab sticks. Before I knew it was stuff and my sushi craving was satisfied.Even though we were a good size group our food came out in a timely matter and service was quick with keeping up with everyone orders.Glad to have given Akita Sushi a try!"

"Fresh sashimi....yes, please! I've driven past this place a few dozen times and never made it in until this weekend. It was super clean and decent parking (I went right when they opened on Saturday). Our server was really nice, attentive, and on top of our lunch service. Sashimi sampler plate was really fresh and decent cuts, except for the octopus. Unfortunately, it was very chewy. Even my mom was saying she might choke because it's not breaking down as we're chewing. Music was a little too loud when we walked in, but perhaps it was just on at the level from the night before, Friday night club scene. Otherwise, between 1 lunch special, sashimi sampler, and vegetable tempura with 2 waters tab was $170, not including tip. It was slightly overpriced, in my opinion. We had the option to sit anywhere and it was very nice to get to sit inside and still get some outdoor fresh air and sun....the magic table that gets the best of both worlds is in the corner table, bench seating right on the edge of inside and outside. You'll thank me later, you're welcome, ha. Would still come back based on our service and freshness with their sashimi."

"Went Friday night for some sushi. We haven't been to Masa in a year we were in the neighborhood and decided to go. We did change it up we usually got sushi rolls, but this time we tried a combo meal. It was perfect! My wife can't eat a lot of rice and that makes her question whenever I want sushi. She's afraid it will be too much rice. These two items have rice but at a much better ratio. So it was a perfect dinner. The service is very good with the exception of the periodic dish being placed into the bus cart. Good is always great and we were glad to see that it's staying great! A wonderful family spot or individual."

Place had a good amount of people dining in, so that's good for them.I am trying to recall what I had and none of it really stands out now. I think I got a lunch box B, and my friend had an unagi roll. Weird that no miso soup or salad came with the lunch special, and I didn't even bother to check on the menu if it came with that. Nigiri pieces were OK. Roll was so so, rice wasn't sticky really.Unagi roll wasn't too bad and I had one piece. Nothing really memorable here, but I did enjoy seeing my friend. Probably will pass on a place like this next time. I'll go check out the Lebanese place next door."

They said "plant-based," and I am not sure if that means vegetarian or vegan, but I do appreciate at least some effort. I had a veggie roll, which was ok, but not something I am going to find myself craving. My friend and I also split fried tofu and potato croquettes. The croquettes were a little weird, and I felt like they were missing something. The tofu were fried sticks, and they were fine, although I didn't care much for the dipping sauce. There was nothing I ate that knocked my socks off, but it also wasn't bad.We sat at the bar, and the service was friendly and fast. The hostess who sat us was also our server, and she came around regularly to check on us. She was very friendly and willing to help. They have a pretty decent cocktail and sake menu, but we didn't have any. I could see going back to try one of their specialty cocktails, although it didn't appear there are any discounts on those for happy hour. Speaking of - the happy hour is pretty expansive. Monday-Thursday it is from 5pm-11pm, but the weekends (Friday/Saturday) are only late night happy hour. They are open until 2am on the weekends, though, so if you're drunk on RoRo and craving some sushi, this is the place.The interior of the place feels very hip and chic. My friend joked that she didn't feel cool enough to be there. I liked the decor, and if the weather works, there is also a nice little outdoor area to sit as well.Like I said - it is solid, but also not something I would crave like some other sushi places I've visited."

I first came to Sushi 101 as a wide-eyed freshmen at ASU and have been back plenty of times since. This is pretty much a staple place for all ASU students to go but now Sushi 101 has relocated from being right next to the ASU campus to a mile or so away. Did the relocation hinder their business? I'll let you decide.Get the ASU Roll, The Monsoon Roll, and even a Philly Roll if you love salmon with cream cheese. Get whatever you want but just get yourself down here. If you're a Sun Devil, you have to pay homage to this spot. Will it be the best sushi of your life? No. But you have to come here. Period."

Though the food smelled really good, we exercised some patience and waited until we got home to open it.I was impressed by their ramen packaging. It came in a big bowl with two compartments: one for the broth and one for the veggies and protein. The broth was still warm even after a 20-minute drive. We immediately devoured its contents. My veggie ramen was tasty and satisfying. The portion was pretty generous, too. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. We were both very pleased with our choices!"
