I asked them to swap the tomato jam for peach habanero, but they gave me plain peach jam instead. Luckily, they fixed it without any drama. The biscuit sandwich? Decent, but no fireworks.Meanwhile, my friends' omelettes were like a game of musical chairs; their orders got all mixed up.The place is tiny inside, and while they have outdoor seating, Mother Nature was throwing a tantrum with rain today. On the bright side, there's plenty of street parking!"

Geri G. "Unexpected little gem of a place. I have to admit I judged a book by its cover and this time I was supremely wrong. When we arrived to stay at a near by place for a few days I saw this place and while it was crowded I overlooked it. I wrongly assumed it was busy because of its proximity to hotels and attractions, not because of their food or service. I was wrong on both accounts. Caney Fork is busy because they are good. We came here on our last night of our honeymoon to get some food after being out all day. The day before we had gone to their attached ice cream place and found that they were both family owned and since the restaurant offered wild game meat my husband was super interested in trying it. We came here before 5 on a Sunday so it wasn't packed with people and were greeted and seated super fast. Our server Red was awesome. He was personable and knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions. We got the wild game platter and also the surf and turf. The wild game platter had fried gator, Cajun frog legs, elk patties and, wild game sausage along with their outfitter stew. The gator wasn't tough it was fried perfectly and had great flavor. The frog legs were tender and flavorful. The patties were a little dry but I imagine that in a burger they would be amazing and paired with the bbq sauce that came with them took any dryness away. The sausage was bursting with flavor and the stew reminded me of an Irish beef stew or a nice hearty winter stew. The surf and turf had an 8oz sirloin that was perfectly cooked and juicy. The shrimp was bbq grilled and bursting with flavor. The sides were had were the campfire potatoes that had a great crunch and the onions only complimented the flavor. And the deep fried cheese curds were not overly greasy and had the perfect melted consistency. It was a fun dining experience. The restaurant is done amazingly with tons of fun things to see and to discover. The waterfall lake with fish were fun to be seated by and provided their own entertainment. Like I said before Red our server was awesome. Fun and funny and made it more of an experience. He wanted us to enjoy everything which is what exactly happened. Next time I am in the area I will definitely be back for the food and also the service. Check this place out for something fun for the family or a date or just for good food."

Sherry W. "Hogwood is probably my favorite place to eat Barbeque in Franklin. I've tried almost everything on the menu, and it's all incredible. The meat selections are cooked to perfection, and the sides are delicious. Speaking of sides, you would think a tiny serving of pickles on each platter would be enough, not! I get a whole cup of these things, as one of my servings because they are so good. To be honest, I could probably eat several more cups. It and the rosemary potato salad, along with the marbled Brisket are my most ordered items. ***Side descriptions taken from Hogwood's website***Icebox Pickles (Fresh sliced cucumbers and onions and add our pickle brine made from rice wine vinegar and the Hogwood Pickling Spice Mix) and RosemaryPotato Salad (real potatoes and bacon, mixed with a hint of rosemary to create something new and refreshing.)My husband ordered the Lean Brisket with Hatch ChileCheese Grits(Fire Roasted Green Chile's from Hatch, New Mexico with Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Hogwood Seasoning, and Stone Ground Grits grits) and HogwoodSlaw (Thinly Sliced Cabbage, Kale, and green apples tossed with our Maple Cider Vinaigrette and garnished with hemp hearts. Our Maple Cider Vinaigrette is made from Apple Cider Vinegar and sweetened with real maple syrup.)Leaving it up to the reader to check out descriptions to rest of the menu. But, it's best to go in person and taste what appeals to you. If contemplating, they give samples to help make the finalselection. Once there, you order and pay at the register. You're given a number, and your food is brought to the table. The restaurant has the smoky aroma of a barbecue place, and it's a clean environment. Service is great, because everyone at this place works to make you a happy customer. I would recommend this Hogwood BBQ to anyone looking for this type food."

Tom E. "I am not going to lie, I have known and heard about this place for years, but it was one of those things that I purposely kept blocking out of my life. I am very particular about styles of bbq, and hearing about "white sauce" was one of those things that I just couldn't fathom, or just want to try.Fast forward to many years later, it was time to take a road trip to Memphis. Since I wasn't in a rush this time, I wanted to go on a path that I hadn't been on before- taking US72 across. I got to see the Space Camp for the first time since 5th grade, and I also decided to eat at Big Bob Gibson (I see they have 2 locations, I don't think either are originals, but I went with this one just because) for lunch. And let me tell you what, I can make a day trip out of this to keep going back, because holy hell, you have a fan in me!First of all, the prices are great. I think my 2 meat meal, and 2 bottles of sauce were under $35- that seems like these days a price for meat only at a lot of places.I decided to get the chicken and ribs, and collards and beans for sides. Now I had heard about that chicken (which I rarely get at bbq places) dunked in that white sauce, but I had no idea about their ribs. The chicken, was juicy, peppery, and oh so yummy. I should have gotten a bigger portion. The ribs, I could easily say were in the top single digits I have ever had, anywhere. Bold statement, and you can't make it up. There is a reason this place always wins awards. The place itself reminded me of a time warp- with lots of local families sharing their meals together- that was cool. The staff was very friendly as well. And did I mention the food was served fairly quickly as well! What is there not to like, fast, delicious, cheap food, great service, a true gem for the city of Decatur- they are blessed to have it! Can't wait to go back, because yo, this is not to be missed!"

Justin P. "I am from Los Angeles so my opinion may matter less to you, but damn these ribs were good. They were fall off the bone tender with a sweet kick from the sauce. If you prefer your ribs dry, this might not be the place for you. I got an extra wing just to try, which was good, but I would've rather had more ribs instead. For sides, I got the corn, BBQ spaghetti, and some fries I stole from a friend. The corn and fries were bomb. Definitely fries you keep ending up eating just one more of until you reach for another one, and they're already all gone. The BBQ spaghetti was alright in my opinion: a little sweet, a little salty, BBQ sauce forward. For any tourists out there reading this, every local I asked said they've never had it in their life before lol, but it's fun to try regional specialties. The place is set up like a fast food place where you order at the counter, seat yourself, and they call your name. The service was very friendly for my visit. The counter staff was helpful explaining things, and when they called my name and realized we had a lot of dishes to take back for a party of 5, they carried our food to our table for us and brought condiments and utensils and stuff for us. The parking lot and dining room are large, so you probably don't have to worry too much about not being able to snag a space even when it's busy."

You know the type, kind of a hole-in-the-wall type place with an eclectic mix of bric-a-brac adorning the walls and they have the prerequisite pig statue. The ordering process is pretty simple. You go.up to the counter and order your meal, they fill your plate, you pay and either take it to-go or sit at a table and enjoy the feast.I went with the pulled pork dinner and for my two sides, I went with turnip greens and potato salad. I also went with Texas toast. I also went over and tried quite a few of their barbecue sauces. They have a table with their sauces available. Heck, the bones are even edible they are done so well. For sides we tried the hush puppies, which the spicy sauce was good but the puppy was too hard. Might have been left in the fryer just a little long. The Mac n cheese was good. And this also comes with Cole slaw, also good. The waitress was super accommodating and let us split the half slab of ribs because we were having dinner in four hours.Service is great. Numerous employees helped out and asked how things were. Drinks were filled as needed. Friendly.Parking: found a free spot out on the street as mentioned in numerous reviews. We came at almost 2p so this probably helped. Can see why this place gets great ratings. They do food the delicious way and take care of their clientele. Had carnitas, ribs, chicken (I didn't try this), fried tomatoes, mac and cheese, salad, potato salad, coleslaw, hot sauce, BBQ sauce.Ribs were almost dry and not very flavorful, same with carnitas. Fried tomato was alright, didn't think it was anything special. Potato salad and coleslaw seemed to be unnecessarily sour, salad was fresh, mac and cheese was a bit watered down, could've done with more cheese that actually stuck on the noodles. Really liked the hot sauce, BBQ sauce was okay, nothing special. Overall fine, not very flavorful."

Our waitress even changed the channel to the Dallas game upon our request, a true patriot indeed. Alright, let's get to the nitty gritty. The sampler is a great solution for 2, maybe 3 people, depending on how hungry everyone is. I would classify this meal into 3 different tiers:Pretty good: - Brisket (a good taste, but I'm not a brisket connoisseur)- Beans (for having beans in the name, they weren't anything crazy but still good- Fries (you don't go to a BBQ place for fries, but they were good) - Mac n Cheese (a solid side dish, but could've had a stronger flavor, A sharp chedder would be better)Some Dagum Good BBQ: - Sausage (very flavorful with a crispy natural casing)- Pulled pork (lathered up with their bbq sauce elevates this shredded pig to one tasty hog)- Diablos (If a guy named Jud were make his own kabobs)Judge my beans babyyy: - The Ribs (the only thing falling off this easy was how I fell for this Chica named Selina), - Fried Okra (obviously this doesn't really have any taste on its own, but it was crispy and was a perfect compliment with the ranch to go with the sweet meats)- Iced Tea (or sweet tea for the native southern folk, which I do not identify with yet as I'm still assimilating from my NY roots)- Wings (quite possibly the best dry rub wings I've ever had, crispy, flavorful, and juicy. You can tell that Jud himself was smoking these wings, "Well I'll be" *insert southern accent*)"

In fact, it's so good I struggle to even try anything else. I've put off writing a review here because I am so stuck and can't really offer any diversity in advice other than the brisket and the pastrami, which are essentially the same except for the pre-smoke production. Doug G. "Finally made the trip Central BBQ in Capital View recently and have mixed feelings about the place and food. If I could give percentages of a star I would put this location at a solid 3.25 stars and here is why...The layout is walk-up, counter order and then it is brought out to your table. Upon entry the counter was not staffed, but there was a child playing on an Ipad behind the counter. I honestly thought they were closed until staff walked from the kitchen and asked for my order. They have paper menus, but no menu boards, which would work way better and move things along a bit easier. They have several large screens behind the counter where they run photos of their food, this would be a great spot to have the menu digitally displayed. After looking at the menu we landed on the pulled pork sandwich with fries and the brisket plate with onion rings and mac & cheese. Pulled pork sandwich was loaded with meat and topped with sauce. The fries were not fresh and weirdly already soggy. They looked good and were seasoned well, but that did not translate too well to the plate. The brisket was sadly dry and chewy, even when drowned in sauce. The mac & cheese was decent, nothing special and the onion rings were nicely fried. I liked the small bun they added so I could make a slider out of a portion of brisket, this was the best way to eat it in my opinion as the meat alone was underwhelming. Sweet tea was delicious, as one would expect from a southern BBQ joint...so that was a positive! Additionally, their sauces were tasty as well. The meats definitely needed the sauce, so glad they had the variety. When you think anywhere near or in downtown you always think parking, and luckily they have ample street parking and a free lot in connection with the Publix next door. Big win! The place was clean and well kept. Loved the vibe, art and layout. They had a few college games on the TV, so no music was playing. I am hoping when TV's are not on with sound they have music, as they needed more energy in the place. Overall, not my favorite BBQ spot in Nashville. I am interested in giving them another shot and sampling a few more things on the menu, as it was fairly expansive."
