Mattie's Soul Food

Oh man, do not sleep on this place. We went on a Sunday evening and tried the neck bones, wings, Mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes, greens, red beans and rice and onion rings. The neck bones and the red beans and rice are next level good and the corn bread was so buttery and delicious. Honestly there wasn't a bad bite of food. We also had the special house cocktail which was sweet and fruity and delicious.Check the hours before you go and come with a big appetite, we both brought at least half of our meal home and now I can look forward to having it tomorrow!

I was craving some soul food and was so excited after seeing the pictures and reviews. We got there and there were no signs, the inside was barren, and all doors were locked. I decided to call and it rang a few times and went straight to voicemail. I went at 3p and the hours said "Closes at 5p", so we walked around and still nothing. I really couldn't believe my eyes when I came to the realization that I couldn't have soul food. We are now on our way to a bbq spot so I can get some Mac n cheese. Maybe this is a ghost kitchen idk but goodness gracious I am hangry!

I am staying down at the Hampton Inn Gateway Park on business and turned to Yelp for recommendation as usual. Danny's chipotle Applebees Montana steak. Come on man I want something different. Well I spy C and M Creole soul food I am in. One review though. Oh well I call and am greeted by a friendly voice and am like yeah let's do this. Well, man greaaaaat food. Chicken wing amazing! Mac and cheese delicious! Stuffing and gravy yes I will have me some of that. Oh you like dessert? Have some peach cobbler why don't u. Hey by the way enjoy some pound cake. This was my first time ordering soul food in Denver and over all it was good food. I ordered the fish platter, chicken cornbread dressing, with red beans and rice. The beans and rice were a bit runny but tasted okay. The cornbread dressing was good but I found two long (burgundy) hairs in it after I begun eating! The fish was wonderful, tasted fresh and was fried perfectly. I ordered peach cobbler and anticipate it being good (although I haven't tasted it yet) I will order again and plan on bringing my daughter to the restaurant so we can enjoy the full experience.

Food was good. Reminded me of my moms cooking. Only thing I didn't care for was the red beans and rice. They were too sweet. We ordered the catfish platter with Max and cheese and fries and the hot Link sandwich platter with greens/cabbage and red beans and rice. For dessert the banana pudding was fire.

My order was wrong and not good at all. I was highly disappointed in Mattie's Soul Food. The menu said chicken and dressing, I foolishly expected baked chicken and stuffing. I received fried chicken wings and stovetop stuffing. I asked for Mac n Cheese...they were out and I got potatoes with cheese sauce poured over it. Nothing was good. A disappointing Easter dinner.

Welp what can I say?... Just absolutely delicious. I am a super picky eater. I mean to the max. C&M for a moment I felt like I was having dinner with my grandma! Thank you for actually having soul in your food! I will definitely be ordering again. I already know what I want to order next time

Food was good, but the service workers don't seem to like their jobs. Maybe they were overwhelmed the day I was there.
