Matcha Cafe Maiko

I'm a matcha lover! This is a matcha lovers paradise. This cafe stays consistently busy on the weekends. My favorite is the parfait. I am sad they stopped giving the chestnut in the parfait. It added a nice texture and flavor. They also do a nice job of providing a rotational flavor. I've seen everything from ube, thai iced tea, pandas coconut, lychee to black sesame flavored. The waffle cones are tasty too. If you're feeling fancy pants you can get their shogun- 24K gold topped on your soft serve. They also sell various soft serves in pint sizes as well as various teas and drinks. Matcha of course is my fav tea/drinks here.

Hot summer days mean cooling down with some good soft-serve ice cream! If you're into matcha, this is it!AMBIANCE/SEATINGsmall and cozy shop with minimalistic wood seating areas. A seating area at the front with two tables requires patrons to take their shoes off. I love that this idea was incorporated into the shop. STAFFThere were about 3-4 staff members when I visited on a Sunday evening. These two have the most flavors. The mango tasted more like a sorbet to me, but it was still tasty. The vanilla is subtle but creamy. Matcha Cafe Maiko is a great ice cream shop to get something to cool down on these hot and humid summer days.

Funnily I have not tried any of their matcha items. I always get their soft serves and occasionally the black sesame latte. Some flavors of soft serve I enjoyed more than others. I've been waiting for pandan to make an appearance and loved that it could be paired with ube. Service is always so quick and friendly here. The shop is small and can get really crowded but they do have some seating outside. Ever since a friend introduced me to this ice cream, I have been searching for it. Ube ice cream is made from purple yams, and it is delicious. This café specializes in Matcha teas and also ice cream, which include Ube!The café is neat and spare and very clean. The staff was professional, if not friendly. And I loved being able to eat my favorite purple ice cream.

Well, I'm glad I went. I can't say that I'll be back anytime soon. There are just too many other Asian bakeries that are preferred for me. The Matcha Mako special pictured here was $10 too much in my opinion! The pieces of poundcake were stale, but the rest of it was pretty tasty though a little too sweet in my opinion. I went here on a Thursday afternoon and there was hardly anybody in there. They have a seating area where you sit on the floor without your shoes which is pretty authentic and would've made for some nice photos if I was with friends. All in all I say, give it a try for yourself and decide..

I like Cafe Maiko a lot! Their matcha is rich and flavorful, and their matcha ice cream is just okay (Cafe Mixx has the best matcha soft serve in my opinion). I also ordered boba with my matcha latte, and I'm pretty sure they used crystal boba, which I didn't enjoy, so I wouldn't recommend adding their boba. However, their chicken karaage was very good; when I went a few years ago, they served it with wasabi mayo, but a few months ago, they just served it with regular mayo, which wasn't as good. The prices are a bit expensive but typical for a cafe, and there's free parking. The cafe is super small, so when it gets packed, there's barely any room to walk past people. I would recommend going to this place at least once.

Food: Maiko special mixed was yummy! I got mixed. The rooty matcha complements the sweet vanilla. I loved all the toppings on there except the boba at the bottom. It felt very hard, overcooked, and too chewy; thus I'm taking off a star for this. If that's not boba, then please correct me. Service: counter girl looked dead, but no hate bc life ain't easy ya feel. She still got the job done and served us good ice cream doe Ambiance: cute. Has no shoe floor seating area. Cafe is small and cozy.

Atmosphere: The Duluth location of Matcha Cafe Maiko is very cute and well-decorated. There is an elevated area by the window where you can take off your shoes and sit on the ground by a floor table! Service: The servers were friendly, and our cone came out relatively quickly.Food: We ordered a Matcha Soft Serve in a cone. It wasn't too sweet, and the matcha flavor came through well. The soft serve was nice and smooth, but we advise to eat it quickly since it melts fast! Overall: Matcha Cafe Maiko is a great dessert choice for matcha lovers! They have a lot of other matcha-based treats, so we're excited to come back and try some of their other desserts.

Such a cute spot! We were craving ice cream late at night and we found ourselves close to this location. They have a variety of flavors for the soft serves and different desserts and bites. We end up all getting soft serves, you can choose from cones or a cup. We tried the Thai Tea flavor, the Vanilla with boba and the Vanilla with cornflakes. They were all so good. If you love matcha then this the place to try. The strong matcha flavor and the creaminess of the soft serve will make your eyes roll to the back of your head. It's soooo good. I haven't tried any other flavors. I want to but then it won't be all matcha. The service was fine. Nothing special. It is a little pricey but once in a while it is such a nice treat!
