Mariscos El Charco is a hole in the wall business in a strip mall, family-friendly, there was a bar, there were TV screens showing Spanish music videos, some wall decorations but not much. For the atmosphere you might expect pretty basic Mexican fare. The flavors are far more sophisticated, worthy of fine dining, not only for my Carne Asada but the flavorful refried beans and rice side too. Clearly I've never eaten rice and beans made correctly before.The restaurant was almost empty when we were there, so we had very prompt service, no competition with anyone else to get service. Can't tell if that's typical when it's busier too, but for us, the server was very attentive.We struggled with the unfamiliar Spanish names of the foods, items like "camarones" "aguachile" "alitas" and "machaca" but because we're English-only speaking gringos, we didn't understand what we would be ordering. He offered us the lunch menu, which had food more familiar to us (tacos, enchiladas, etc.), but we did find a couple of dishes on the regular menu that we were familiar with. What would make it better? I hate to even suggest it because it's such an authentic Mexican restaurant and the language is part of the culture! But English explanations or translations of the foods on the menu would have been helpful. I would have ordered more if I could understand my options.

We were looking for a margarita in Denver and stumbled on this place.. we had the Cadillac and it was alright. We shared the fajitas. It had nice portion sizes and they were pretty delicious. The salsa was very spicy, but the chips tasted bagged. Service was very friendly.

Huge MenuThis place has a huge menu! Lots and lots of beef, shrimp, and chicken options. The space inside is much bigger than expected. Low key vibe with a tremendously friendly staff. Super impressive all around!

Absolutely fantastic dine in experience! This is probably the most authentic and tastiest Mexican food I've eaten in Colorado since moving here from Texas 7 years ago. The service was prompt and friendly and we were seated right away. To our delight, there was a live band playing and the ambiance felt so authentic. The house margaritas were huge so you definitely get your money's worth! I got the shrimp fajitas and the flavor was to die for. I loved the rice and the refried beans were smoky and probably my favorite food I tried here! I highly recommend this hidden gem to any one looking for authentic and flavorful Mexican food! You won't be disappointed.

Lead lighting like the surface of the sun made me migrainous but staff were lovely--good salsa and guac and aguachile. I was less excited about beef fajitas (no seasoning). Go to support the great people who clearly have their heart in it.

Got the fish tacos and they were amazing. True Mexican authentic restaurant. They have anything you could want from a seafood restaurant who also has steak and tacos and other fixins.Service was ok but ambiance was great playing Mexican music. Usually on Friday thru Sunday they have a trio or people playing live Mexican music.

We stopped in here last night and the food was amazing! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Michelada was the absolute best and was presented in a really cool way. We had the carne asada thin steak and chicken fajitas. Amazing portions and that flavor, wow! Great service too. Free chips and salsa. The salsa had a nice kick but not too much. Also, the fountain drinks were on point too. So random, I know, but not watered down. We'll be back!

So far the best Mexican food I've had in Denver. I ordered fajita mix delicious flavorful asada, pollo, and shrimp w/ rice beans guacamole sour cream.I Couldn't get over how juicy the chicken was extremely flavorful it made me wonder what their secret was. I have a rule When I go out to eat if I take something that I know I can make better I usually don't go back there. Needless to say I will be back here as long as this chef is here.

My friend found this place incidentally while walking home and ate there for lunch. He raved about how good it was I asked if he would be down to eat there twice in one day. He said yes so we stopped by for dinner and yep, absolutely worth it. Unassuming location with quick service. Had the steak fajitas and aguachiles la jefa. Friend had Carne asada tacos and we drank some margs. Nothing was phoned in, every aspect of the meal was fantastic from the rice and beans to the oyster shots. Can't wait to come back many many more times.
