Marais

Came here with three friends for a birthday. It's a cool place. They have a somewhat elegant main dining area, a separate bar area with swings at the bar (we tried them out and it was fun) and a nice size outdoor area overlooking a waterfront. They have happy hour Tuesday-Friday and Sunday's from 4-6pm. We ate in the main dining area on a Friday but was there before happy hour ended and they let us order our drinks at happy hour prices. HH wines are $7 and cocktails are $6. My friends got the cosmo and lemon drops and they said the drinks were good. The wait staff was extremely attentive constantly checking and refilling water. We got an order of the Maria's Bacon Candy Deviled Eggs for the table (very good). I ordered the Bourbon Street Redfish that was topped with two shrimp. It was also supposed to be topped with lump blue crab meat but that wasn't noticeable in the dish. This entree comes with two sides that I substituted with spinach and Brussels sprouts. This entree was $38 which in my opinion is comparable to a high end establishment. Steaks go for $60+. My fish was over cooked and somewhat dry. Very disappointing. I really want to like this restaurant because of the vibes. I'll give it another shot but will try the fried chicken next time.

This place is top notch... clean, fresh, service, everything is top notch. First I had an amazing old fashioned, like I was in Wisconsin. We had some oysters Rockefeller, and enjoyed the fresh bread and butter they put on the table. I ordered a sea bass dish over risotto that was perfectly prepared, and delicious.

I came here for brunch and it was such a nice experience. The price of mimosas was pretty good, the menu was filled with brunch classics and they were flavorful. I enjoyed the view of the water and friendly service. I'll have to come back.

It's very rare to find a gem in Southeast Austin, but when you do, it is every bit worth it. Marais is decorated elegantly and reminds you of somewhere in the garden district in New Orleans. Every Sunday, Marais hosts a Sunday Jazz Brunch between 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM where jazz musicians and Marais breakfast buffet (a la carte also available) come together. Reservations highly recommended and as far as my favorite dish goes, THE FRESHLY MADE FRENCH TOAST made right in front of you! Also, who can say "no" to $10 whole bottle mimosas?!

We had a great time at Marais! The bar was really cute with swings, and Scott, our bartender, was incredibly friendly and helpful. For dinner, we got the crab and shrimp tower, a nice gumbo, short rib ravioli, and grits mes Amis. Wine, Pimms cup, and Fleur de Lis were hits. We finished with a key lime tart that was just the right size. We will be back!

Ok, so this is my maybe 5th time going here. Don't get me wrong, but the food is just ok. I love seafood but I just was not really impressed with what I ate. I got the fried shrimp and oysters with the dirty rice. The seafood was good but the rice was not. My daughter got the chicken Caesar Salad and they forgot to put the dressing on it. The pasta my son got he said it was ok. My other son got the Lobster Cargo ( not pictured) it was good.he also got the Rockefeller Oyster( not pictured) they were good and he ordered a steak. ( not pictured) it was ok. The service was great. She made sure our glasses stayed full . The atmosphere was pleasant and nice. I would go again to try something else! The drinks were AMAZING!!!

Patio area is fantastic on a beautiful evening. Live music was so relaxing tonight. Our fried green tomato appetizer was unique, delicious, and beautifully presented. Our salads were pretty average. The salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked but my salad had some wilted pieces and the overall taste was ok. But for $21 I'm not disappointed. Service was great. I loved our sweet waitress. They also were also helpful with the wine choices.

Wonderful place for a business dinner, brunch, or date night We had a great experience due to the patient and kind server. He was led us through the menu and made some good recommendations. We also really loved the ambience -- fine dining meets French quarter. There is an underground bar next to the bayou, outdoor dining, and another bar with swings immediately next to the main dining area. Also, there's a room that you rsvp for events and private dining! The food was delicious too. Here's the breakdown: *Chargrilled Trio - 4/5 due to being a little too salty *24 oz. Beautiful atmosphere, phenomenal food, and great service! Everything we tried was amazing, I can't wait to go back!

The food is absolutely incredible. All of our selections were fantastic. Drinks were all delicious and the wine selection is impressive and the wine display is stunning. Appetizers were wonderful and desserts were to die for. The staff were on point and very attentive. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and there is nothing short to look at and admire all around. You can tell the owner has put a lot of thought into the decor and ambience and takes great pride in his restaurant, the food and its concept. This will now be a regular spot for us!
