Maika’i Hawaiian BBQ

This new restaurant opened a couple of months ago and I recently visited for lunch. It's in a new space as part of a strip center at the corner of FM1960 and N. Eldridge with parking in front. Inside its a counter service eatery that has a big and airy dining room with big windows.I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken meal for $10.75 and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. It was a typical Hawaiian lunch plate with plenty of chicken, two scoops of rice and another scoop of macaroni. I thought everything tasted very good and was pleased. The meal represented very good value and I plan to return to try one of their beef and seafood protein plates. Most menu items are in the low teens $. They have a self service Pepsi machine with ice tea available too.

Reasonably priced. Service was A+. Vibes were right. Flavors were on point. Hawaiian done right. Huge plus for having fountain drinks. Most Hawaiian places only have can sodas but here you get the option of both. My new go to when Im in the mood for something different.

New Hawaiian BBQ place. Beef, pork and chicken combo was good and served over cabbage. Came with rice and macaroni salad. BBQ was a bit salty for me but probably not for anyone else. Good balance with the sides. Clean space and minimalist design in the dining room.

Always amazing. It's my Tuesday lunch spot and the portion sizes are huge. The staff is always friendly and happy to see you and they keep it clean and tidy which always gets my brownie points lol.

Well, this place is great very bright, clean and you get a welcome upon entering the chicken, short ribs grilled chicken, the side condiments delicious with a Captal D highly recommended. Can't wait to go in and try something new. Glad you guys are in the neighborhood.

One of my fave places to get hawaiian. Their Tuesday special for chicken bbq plate at 7.99 is well worth it. I've had all their other bbq plates and tonkatsu and it's always so fresh and plentiful. Very yummy. Their macaroni salad is also mild but still flavorful. Food always comes out quick. Service is friendly. Definitely one of my fave places to grab some grub! Aloha!

We made a special trip out to this restaurant driving 45 minutes across town. We got to the restaurant just before 8pm which should have been fine as the posted hours say it's open until 9pm. The restaurant was spacious and clean, in fact, we had to step around the mop bucket to get to the counter. We gave our order and the cashier warned us that we would not have a lot of time to eat as they close the dining area at 8:30pm. I commented that the hours say they are open til 9pm so we were expecting to be able to eat there. She explained that she is paid by the hour so they use the last 30 minutes to do the required cleaning, but eventually agreed that it was fine. She gave us our cup for the fountain drink and then had to turn the machine on, she had already shut that down for the evening. The food was fine, though I'm not familiar with hawaiian cuisine. My boyfriend, who does eat hawaiian often, was not a fan of the food. We had the platter with the trio of meats. We liked the chicken katsu but the beef and bbq chicken were not as good. The macaroni salad was nice though. Overall, I was disappointed with the service and the food was not good enough to make it worth the drive. We may make the drive again in the future, but we will probably be trying out Aloha across the street. We are still hunting for our go-to Hawaiian BBQ place!

Always down to try a new Hawaiian bbq place and this one just opened close to work. I ordered the Kalua Pork and it was very flavorful, along with the rice and mac it really hit the spot. My coworker got the BBQ plate so we could try several meats and while they were all delicious, the bbq beef really has some of the best flavor and texture. I think this new cute interior and quality food Hawaiian place will do well here.

Customer service was awesome. Food tasted better than all of the other Hawaiian places and prices and servings were also perfect. I'mdefinitely back.

Do NOT go tot his place. The people that is handling your food does not wear gloves! Very unsanitary. Person that is serving your food also took my order was biting his nails. Did not was his hand before packaging my order.
