Kong's Crab Shack

The fact that I really tried to give this place a chance over a long period of time disappoints me. It was formerly Hank's. And when I initially saw that Kong's kept the same menu, I was excited. Within a very short time, the place deteriorated, and it was obvious that the cook(s) and/or recipes had changed. I have gone a number of times due to proximity, hoping it would get better. But today was definitely my last time. The almost nonexistent waitstaff that cannot remember your order just worsens it even more. I opted not to get seafood this time because during my previous visit, it was rubbery, definitely overcooked. This time I ordered hot wings and fried rice. Literally took one bite of the chicken, and left the rest of it. As for the fried rice, I ate most of it and regretted it because I knew it was too oily after only a couple of bites.

Please do not eat here. Seafood is over priced and not good at all. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I ordered a cluster of snow crab legs, shrimp and potatoes. My food nasty my one cluster of snow crab leg was over cooked/steamed. They gave me 6 shrimps that had the head on and was horrible. For $45 it was a waste of money. I will not be returning back. Oh they also did not have a bar tender so only drinks they had were frozen drinks. I wanted a top shelf margarita on the rocks but they brought me a frozen margarita with a extra shot on the side which of course they charged me an additional $8 for the shot.

We've been coming to this location since it was Hank's Crab Shack and can honestly say it's done a 180 since changing ownership. Although the food is still the same and the recipes haven't changed, the customer service is damn near non-existent. They take forever to greet your table, tend to drop your food off and disappear, the bar is a mess and their cleanliness levels are not there anymore. The server that was here today barely cracked a smile and she was very short with us, you'd think there were more than 5 tables here. I've waited tables before and with this place as dead as it is, there is no understandable reason for crappy service. We asked to start with chicken wings and instead got our meal first. When asked to cancel the wings, we were told they already were cooking but take 10 min to cook. Why were they not entered first???? Poor service, but great food.

The crawfish were of average size.. but I was hoping more would be bigger considering they're in season right now. The spicy level was on point (regular spicy was what I ordered) but I definitely would have enjoyed it more if it had more flavor (I had the garlic butter). This time I only ordered 2 lbs of crawfish for $8.99/lb. Im hoping to drop by again since their other food sounds really yummy..hopefully they will have bigger sized crawfish!

Thumbs up for this one! It was a pleasant surprise. The place is super charming, it has good music and decor, and they have a full bar. The atmosphere is very enjoyable. I wouldn't use it for a date, but certainly for hanging out with friends or coworkers. They have pretty good deals for combos which is basically food by the pound, if your group is more than 3 I will certainly recommend you to do that. Food was fresh, flavorful, and well portioned. The service was very attentive, it felt like family owned, and very servicial. They have private parking and indoors and covered outdoors seating.

I've been here several times since Christmas and I've asked every employer and new owners why Christmas decor is still up in April. This is ridiculous. Food is great but when I see this lack of attention in the restaurant I wonder what's going on in the kitchen.

Well came to Katy to do some visiting since in the Houston area, driving by we decided to stop in Kongs Crab Shack it was a empty so there was some concern. As we were seated we decided to search for reviews. Yikes, what we do that for? Read one and it was TERRIBLE. So we decided to leave As we grabbed our things to run out (mind you this was AFTER we ordered) something said TRY It for yourself. (Thank goodness for jiminy cricket) lolWe ordered the stuffed shrimp (Absolutely delicious) stuffed Crab (must I say it?.... DELICIOUS!) the Alaskan Crab boil spicy...... Very good a bit XTRA SPICY and the Alaskan snow crab was also ordered spicy (that had my nose running and the rim around my lips burning worth every bit of the burn. Ordered a couple of slushie drinks to wash everything down. Only complaint is you only get one potato and it's a small one. Now spicy was number three on their scale. I can't imagine a 5 or 10 number 3 knocks your boots off. Lol

This place is a little gem not found by many. Good quality Cajun food. Great service. Good daily specials of raw oysters to boiled crabs, crawfish, etc. Definitely suggest looking into it.

SO, My mom spent $28 on the 1st picture and tell me it doesn't look SKIMPED OUT? ! They also forgot to give us our boudin when they asked us to repeat the order 3 times.... I'm not a hater but that's just ridiculous... I don't care if we came 40 mins before closing you need to do better (your staff). We aren't ordering from here again. Also didn't give us our garlic sauce and butter.. I love seafood and I seriously just hate when your so exited to eat a meal and then your missing things when we paid $82. SMH. With this inflation going on we we were better off not even going there and saving the money, but we wanted to enjoy a nice seafood dinner. And it's not giving what it was suppose to give....

We came looking for crawfish and that's what we got !!! It was delicious!! Loved the fact that we picked our level of spice. Order was delivered quick and hot. Potatoes and corn awesome. Gumbo was also great ... seasoned but not too hot. The garlic bread was so good I asked for more and they brought me 4 more pieces. Great Service ...Great Music ..Great Food!
