Kang Nam Japanese Restaurant

This might be our new sushi spot!! Great customer service and great prices. We ordered takeout and was asked to have a seat while we waited. Casual izakaya style seating. They brought us water and even a scoop of ice cream for each of us while we waited - an unexpected kind gesture.We ordered 1 sashimi and udon bento to go. It was $22 and huge. Fish was fresh and lots of additional items like unagi and tempura. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to return.

Let me just cut to the chase. This place right here? PHENOMENAL. The side salad was a great light starter as well as their ban chans. We came on a Wednesday to take advantage of their lunch specials as a party of 6. Between us, we shared their #10 Hwe Dup Bob + Spicy fish soup, #6 sashimi + sushi + udon, Sashimi & sushi combo, Dragon roll and Outside salmon roll. Of course I loved their salmon sashimi but also liked the yellow tail, tuna, and shrimp. I was really surprised by the hwe dup bop which was essentially bimimbap but with white fish instead of a pork/beef. The udon was springy and chewy. Both rolls were divine and it's hard to say which one I liked better but if you twist my arm, I'd say the dragon roll since I'm also a sucker for eel. Going on super hungry, we BARELY could finish the food even though we so desperately were determined to. Everything is super fresh, well presented, and beautifully seasoned. The staff were beyond friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was private and casual. My friends were hyping this place up and it was for a lost cause. I am truly in love and cannot wait to come again. Please do yourself a favor and support this wonderful business.

The more I come here, the more I love it. The lunch special is so worth. For $22 you can get a sashimi box with so much food. It comes with three types of sashimi, a California roll, udon, eel, and tempura. You definitely leave feeling full and satisfied. The fish quality is also so fresh every time. Service is also convenient as each booth has a button you can press to call over your server. They're always so busy though, so expect a wait if you don't have a reservation (especially applicable to dinner times).

Great place to get sushi!! Kang Nam was on my list for a while because of their sushi boats lol so we finally went and I don't think we ordered enough for a boat, but it was still plenty of food.There was a bit of a wait for a Sunday night but we ended up getting seated in one of the private rooms around 15 min after we put our names on the waitlist. Service was just fine and price was pretty standard for sushi.There were 4 of us and we shared 5 rolls which was the perfect amount! Surprisingly I liked all of them equally and didn't really have a favorite, which is pretty rare for when I get sushi. Overall since Kang Nam is so close to my house, I will definitely be back to try more of their rolls!

This is a super cute korean run japanese restaurant. I would recommend reservations since we (party of 2) went on a saturday afternoon and were told a 30 minute wait. It ended up only being 10 tho but service was quite slow. The banchan was a nice surprise and really good. The sushi was tasty and the restaurant provided high quality fish. We ordered off the sushi menu, instead of the lunch special menu (rookie mistake). We will definitely be back for the lunch specials. Other tables ordered some of them and there was SO much food.

My wife loves this place for the lunch special that includes the roe rice. It's very fresh and all of the food is very good. The service here is good and there's a lot of rooms that you can reserve. The sushi here is really the highlight.

One of the best Japanese sushi restaurants in the area! I came for dinner with my family and we were immediately serviced even though the restaurant was very busy. The food was amazing and such good value. We had a tempura combo, fish combo, and beef done. Loved the cute little rooms and vibes of the restaurant as well. Will always be coming here for great service and sushi.

Kang Nam is a Japanese restaurant with Korean influences which has been part of the Buford Highway landscape since 1970. It is known for its sushi and balance of fusion and tradition. I ordered the lunch portion of the Kangnam Jungsik, which features sashimi, sushi, california rolls, soup (pumpkin and spicy fish soup), grilled mackerel, shrimp tempura, roe rice and banchan (Korean side dishes such as boiled peanuts, steamed egg, kimchi, tofu, fish cake, glass noodles). I enjoyed my meal at Kang Nam. The sashimi and sushi were as good as advertised. I was pleasantly surprised by the pumpkin soup, which is thicker and sweeter than I anticipated but also very delicious. The boiled peanuts were crunchy and provided just enough flavor. The grilled mackerel was light but tasted a bit on the oily side. I would recommend the lunch portion of the Kangnam Jungsik, as you receive a lot of food for the price point. I also loved eating in one of the private rooms and the great customer service. Kang Nam features an extensive menu, so I look forward to exploring the menu further during future visits.

This is off the highway, has a huge sign so not hard to miss. Free parking and a decent size parking lot. They have rooms that are covered or normal restaurants style seating.Me and my party were sat in the enclosed area. I ordered the Philadelphia roll and cucumber salad. they ordered the orange roll, ribs and seaweed salad. Also green tea.The food was good and service as fast.
