Just Oxtails Soul Food

This is one of my favorite soul food spots in Houston. The food rarely disappoints (I only get disappointed by them 5% of the time). I say this because sometimes the meat isn't always tender or maybe the sides aren't as good as they usually make it. The workers are fast and friendly, but the owner seems to be passive. The establishment has it's off days, but all and all it's pretty damn good.The last time I visited, I got Oxtails, Mac & Cheese, Cabbage, and Yams. Everything was deliciously on point. The meat was very tender. The mac & cheese was rich. The cabbage had just enough salt. And the yams (my favorite) was so sweet. I love coming here, but there's room for improvement as far as consistency.

My 1st time at Just Oxtails, was very disappointing, the Mac and cheese was full of salt,( couldn't even eat it) the candies yams was just a yam (no taste whatsoever) now let's talk about the Oxtails..... The oxtails were so small like they were cut in half which made them tough to chew, hard and small ! I was very disappointed with this place. Needless to say I won't be back!

Disappointed.After all the ads and TV commercials, I'm like let me give it a shot drove from spring all the way to the south 288 and reed. Mainly for the oxtails. To my surprise, nothing of what I expected service wss horrible they seem like they didn't want to be there. everything outdated food seemed like it was from cans in boxes, and it looked like it's been sitting there for quite some time. for $34 I would expect it something really really nice.

This place is horrible! The food, the customer service, the building, EVERYTHING! Unseasoned or too salty; undercooked to overcooked; and the attitudes of the workers! I can't believe they're still in business! Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else! Black people, I know we want to support Black establishments but NOT THIS PLACE!

I ordered the oxtails with rice and gravy, Mac n cheese and cabbage. The oxtails were tough the Mac n cheeses was watery and the bacon in the cabbage was rancid. Also there was a vinegar aftertaste to the food. I couldn't tell it was from the oxtails or the cabbage, if I had to guess it was probably the cabbage because of the rancid bacon.

I really dont like to give bad reviews but... Im tempted to lut 1 star... Wow, What a disappointment. I used today as a cheat day and now I highly regret deciding on this place. I drove out of my way to try this place I walked in and theres a line, it was not moving.... Whispers trickeled down the line that they were behind on cooking the food. Total it took 26 minutes of standing in line. Secondly, when it was finally time to order my food, the PORTIONS were small for a $25.00 plate of Oxtails (not including tax). The guy next to me had to ask if they could add extra scoops to his sides... after all he was paying 25+ for his plate too. I am shocked at their MacNCheese. It looks and taste canned. Disgusting. My greenbeans were ok.The food overall taste bland and tragically....my Oxtails were tough. Maybe because they were rushing cooking. Food has very bland taste. Just overall completely disappointed and cannot finish my food. What a waste of money!

Well...this was my second time here. The food is great!!! Good portion sizes, and service is pretty quick. However...I would suggest you either bring your own drinks or get tap water!!! I also suggest you pay in cash!!! The price of these drinks made my hair stand up!!! Especially the cost for 32 ounces of Kool Aid!!! I also have never been charged for paying by credit card (This is a cost the business should absorb for doing business!!!). At the very least some sort of statement should be noted. Best believe...i'll ask how much drinks are from now on!!! Just Ridiculous!!!

After all that commercialing, Just wasn't what I expected. Not tidy at all. Ambiance was unsettling, took out..wasn't comfortable eating in. Trash on tables, food wasn't all that, for instance Mac and cheese didn't look homemade and tasted like boxed Mac and cheese dressed up ‍ service was ahhh, let's just say, not the best.

the customer service was poor and I feel like they were being picky with the sides the employees were not very clean I recommend farmers for a better quality

If I can give they ass zero stars I would very first and 82 dollars food was blend mushie and canned tasting and looked as well as it tasted
