I took someone here to try the seafood. I couldn't resist sharing to the experience. First impressions are lasting. Crowds don't = quality.Pro's: a lot of people come. The service was fast. Cons: a lot of people come. It's a bit crowded for my liking & the cherry on the top was a pet cat walking around.I have no problem with pets I'm just not a fan of them in food establishments but it didn't seem to bother the patrons. So there you go. The person I took was pleased with the food. I guess that's what mattered.

The best I mean the best breaded seafood & wings in Philly! They even have breaded chicken gizzards. If u haven't had breaded gizzards try them from John's. Thank me later. They also have steamed seafood platters as well. But the breaded wings & gizzards are my favorite. Every thing taste nice & fresh. U put your own condiments on. They sell desserts also. The lemon cake is pretty good. Homemade ice tea and other juice. This place is a gem in the hood. I always call my order in ahead of time. Because it's metered parking. The owners are professional and have great customer service skills. The only con is that they only accept cash. ATM is inside the restaurant but the fees are inconvenient. I've being coming here for a few years. 5 stars indeed..

I wanted some seafood and decided to give this old favorite another shoot since it's under new management long story short it has gone downhill more the platters seem to be getting smaller, the prices have increased, and the fish is mostly breading I was hoping johns would improve long after the old team had left but instead it has steadily declined your better off going to Carmen's to get seafood even though they suck as well.

I rarely review a fast food place, unless it is absolutely needed. John's Seafood, needs some recognition.Run by an old Korean couple, John's Seafood offers breaded filets of fish from tilapia to trout, which all look fresh and displayed daily. They also have breaded fish cakes, crab sticks, chicken wings, scallops, shrimps, and cheesesteaks/cheeseburgers. Everything is reasonably priced and even runs on the cheap side; which is a great thing for my student budget!Anyways, I always get the chicken wings here. I usually like my wings naked, but John's has the breaded kind. Let me tell you though, these are delicious! The wings are not cut, and served the whole, but are equally as crispy. The breading keeps the juices inside, making the meat of the wings so tender and moist. I am not sure what kind of oil they use, but the infused fish oil taste is amazing. All in all, a great chicken wing and one of the better ones I've had. The small place is pretty popular among the people who live around the area; I live about three doors down. I will always return, like I have been, at least weekly.

After teasing me with its barred doors and windows for many months, I'm glad to see that John's Seafood has finally opened back up! Wonderful little place to grab a quick bite to eat for takeout around Broad and Girard. They've got an expansive selection of freshly fried, breaded seafood platters, such as fish, scallops, shrimp, and all for great prices. What seems to be really popular is the fried chicken wings. Note that they fry the chicken and seafood in the same fryer, so your fish might taste like chicken and vice versa. Oh yeah, the platter combo sizes are very generous!I enjoy the cheesesteak hoagie, too. The Korean couple who runs the place will attentively listen to your order, but try to be direct because their English isn't that great. They were really good about replacing the sandwich we asked for no mayo on. Crowds tend to form, so be patient or come early!

i stopped by this place today based solely on yelp reviews. i found the service to be very fast and friendly but the food was just okay. its more or less the typical "round the way" type of seafood spot that can be found in most philly neighborhoods. they offer a limited selection of breaded fish, shell fish, fries, chicken wings, etc. nothing really stands out though. you can get comparable food from most any other similar establishment in the area. but again, very fast and friendly service. if youre in the area and just happen to be driving by then sure, grab a bite but dont go out of your way.

Haven't been to John's since the 90's. Of course the food is different now. The food was good. I wanted a classic fish hoagie and it was everything I thought it would be. That is my go to when I want those nostalgic classics. I think the food is somewhat reasonably priced for the current times. The staff was polite and courteous and friendly. It's a take out spot, it's nothing fancy but there is good food.

I used to come here all the time when John and his wife were running the restaurant. It looks like the restaurant has been sold and has new owners. Unfortunately, the food leaves much to be desired. I ordered a cheesesteak and while edible, I would never order one again. it seems like they're now using "steak umm's" or some other crap for their meat. I've had better cheesesteaks from the corner bodegas and they cost about $3 less. Fish and shrimp tasted ok, but nothing that I'd be willing to travel out of my way for.
