Gosh, this is one of the best seafood venues I have ever eaten at. There are a couple of sidewalk tables but that is it. Maybe more of a catering or takeout venue. We got the pescatore pasta, calamari and shrimp cocktail and they were awesome. Really nice staff also. Check it out!!!

Anastasi Seafood was the first place I was taken on a date when I moved to Philly. It was a wonderful experience and I've dined quite a few times since. It's a seafood market as well as restaurant, ensuring the freshness of the food. It's probably better to take a taxi there unless you're lucky enough to find parking or want to pay the exuberant fees of the nearby garages. Depending on where you're coming from. But it's very slim pickings. Pat's & Geno's is close by, as well as a host of other restaurants and bars. It's located right in the middle of the bustling Italian Market. Though I heard they moved recently to make way for more capitalism. The decor is minimal. Inside looks like a standard fish market with different, fish, crustaceans, shellfish etc on display on ice. It does not smell bad or fishy etc. considering your dining in a seafood market. It is however very cold. So bring a sweater or jacket for sure. There's a full bar on one side. Tables with chairs diner style , the menu is written on blackboards in different color hues hanging above the seafood display counter and bar. It can be cramped and I hate the tables near the restroom or the swinging doors where servers are coming in and out with your food. No frills, you don't need to dress up, not romantic. But the food and service is exceptional. The first time I dined, we had the seafood bruschetta and calamari to start. The bruschetta was delicious shrimp, scallop, avocado, tomato, onion and Parmesan cheese. You get three pieces. The bread is toasted but gives way to soft center. The calamari was typical fried tubes you get. They were tender and with a squeeze of a lemon and dipped in the marinara tasty just not my preferred way of having them. My date got the shrimp & scallop Marsala, I got a soft shell crab special served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I liked his entree over mine. But both were good. The Marsala was tasty with its rich umami flavor, subtle sweetness and herbaceous. The soft shell crab was flaky, crunchy, buttery slightly sweet soft meat. The sides however were uninspired. The mixed vegetables reminded me of school cafeteria and the mashed potatoes were a little to stiff for my liking. The next time I dined I had the shrimp & crab chowder to start. It was heavenly. Creamy, rich but not too heavy, full of crab and shrimp and they're not stingy with the oyster crackers. A hint of spice would take it over the top. For entree I got the pescatore it contains shrimp, mussels, crab and clams. I got it in the white sauce, can't go wrong with garlic, shallots, white wine and butter. I got some bread to sop up the broth. The red sangria is delicious and the watermelon margarita is my favorite cocktail when available. On other occasions I got things from the market and the prices were reasonable and the always fresh. I'll definitely be back when blue crab is in season.

Reasonably priced seafood close to home. I purchased a few lobster tails for my lobster mac and they were of great quality! So excited that I found this place! The person at the counter wasn't as helpful as I would've liked but I got what I needed and was out! I will be back for all my seafood needs.

Great friendly service and they have a good selection too! Ordered some smelts, squid, sardines, and mussels to make treats for my dog and when I saw they also had some prepared items, I ordered some crab cakes for myself.

Came in to get some shrimp for dinner. Place is relatively small but lots of fresh choices! Service was good. The shrimp were cleaned and even the tail was removed. Highly recommend.

The food is not what it used to be to be. At one point of time you could go in Anastasi and get lunch and come out satisfied. Not anymore, tried yesterday and order to fried combo. I will say the portions are smaller the crab cakes are not the same and the scallops are wet. The first time I was served bad scallops. I had to call them and tell them the scallops were giving off an annomia smell. She told me to come back to make new scallops. Instead she made me a new platter and the scallops were wet the breading was falling off. Shrimps were okay, but when they are over cooked they become tuff. I will not be returning for quick meals. I haven't got any fresh fish from there lately so I'll possibly try that. I never get crabs from there. They are always small and hallow

Parking here is street parking, however there are plenty parking garages at walking distance. This restaurant is way part the more touristic area and at fist glance is not a place that promises much, but once you step in, things change. They have a fish market adjacent to the restaurant that may be a little odd at fist but I promise that it is worth the try.We came in for oysters and a couple of drinks, a quick in and out. The staff here was SUPER friendly and accommodating, the service was so quick and nice.OYSTER- we had a dozen of oysters, they were fresh and super tasty, they even went the extra step of loosen them up from the shell for us. The price was reasonable as well and the presentation of the oysters was on point! This place is truly a HIDDEN GEM!overall we had. great experience, a quick in and out! the dish cam out in a very quick amount of time and the ambiance was perfect too!super worth the try and I do think that this place is a winner!

This is a great seafood market, but dining 'in' - not so much. The fried oysters are mainly batter/breading and fried to death. Buy your fresh seafood here, but take it home to prepare yourself - or eat at the Oyster House in Center City!
