JJ Fish & Chicken

JJ Fish and Chicken may have originated in Chicago, but it is now an Atlanta tradition. When I first moved here 18 years ago, nobody sold whole fried chicken wings but this franchise. If you asked for a fried wing from other places, they tried to sell you a small half wing without the tips like a Buffalo wing. In the past, I had to use the Pryor Road or Metropolitan Road locations. To my surprise, they now have one at Greenbriar Mall. Yesss!!! That's a win. These spots over here need some competition. This review is based on a delivery order. I requested 10 whole wings with fries and a soda. I asked them to sprinkle some ranch seasoning on the top of the wings. The food came quickly and extremely hot. I could tell it was fresh out of the grease. The fries were cooked perfectly. Fresh, hot, and crunchy. No soggy fries. The wings were fried just right. Juicy and crunchy but not greasy. I don't know how they batter their wings, but they are never greasy. Just juicy. There are two slices of light bread (white bread) buried underneath the chicken. If you are not careful, you won't know it's there until you are halfway finished eating. They put plenty of hot sauce in the bag, too. The plate is certainly big enough to share because these are whole wings, but the coleslaw was super tiny. I will definitely be back.

It was late night maybe 45 min before closing. The cashier didn't pay me any attention while she was on her phone. I orders 3 pc flounder meal. 3 large pcs of fish. It wasn't fishy but a little soft. I asked for extra seasoning and I didn't get it. The fries are old. Small coleslaw and absolutely no hot sauce! I will try it one more time in the day to see if they can redeem themselves.

My 2nd JJs visit. The ambiance in this place is boring nondescript. It is clean, though. Service was pleasant but I would like to have been asked about the dusting. I didn't care for what seems to be ranch &onion powder dusted over the entire plate. However, I noticed some people add extra. The fish was fried crispy, not oily & lightly coated. The cheap ketchup, packaged tartar, no , nor and THAT DUST were dissapointing. Now that I've read the Chicago reviews I can deduce that these folks are running away from Chicago.

Mohammed is the best they always give friendly service. The place is always clean, bright and friendly. I'm glad they're Greenbriar.

This Jjs is the cleanest and has the best food out of all that I have tried. The food is always fresh and they never overcook my whiting. The workers give great customer service without attitude. This was only my 2nd visit to this location, however I will gladly be driving out my way to come back.
