I've been a long time Jane Guem fans until now, my couple recent visits prove that this restaurant is going DOWNHILL. Today I ordered a small beef intestines to go. Upon opening the box I realized the beef intestines are mostly burned. The portion of the beef intestines came lot smaller, and my guess is that they burned the beef intestines but did not want to make a new one. Instead, they took out the most burned parts and left the rest to customer thinking they can get away with it. No, you can't! The less burned meat was still too crunchy and too bitter that I can barely swallow it.When you screw up a dish, please remake it instead of presenting an inedible dish to your patrons, it's bad for your business and reputation!!

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could, because nothing went right during our recent visit here. Came on a Saturday evening around 6pm and the place was packed, it quickly became clear they were severely understaffed and the servers were overwhelmed. We waited for 20 min before having to wave someone just to get water and to order. We then waited for an hour to get our food and most of the tables around us had long wait times too. We kept getting ignored when trying to ask for updates, it was a pretty hectic situation. When we finally got our food, the taste was so bad I couldn't take more than 2 bites. My noodles were undercooked so it tasted grainy. We literally just decided to take the food to go because the experience was so bad. But when we tried to get to go box they continued to ignore us, so we finally had to try to find our own containers. When my wife asked the guy at cash register for a larger container for our noodles he yelled at her saying they don't have any. I finally stood up and asked for a manager, only to find out their manager is not there on the busiest day of the week. The same guy who yelled came to us and I told him to not raise his voice and to keep it professional. He apologized profusely and told us we didn't have to pay for our food. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is THE worst dining experience I've had, and will never come back here ever again. There are way too many good restaurants in Houston for anyone to waste their time or money at a restaurant that has both bad food and bad service.

Very disappointing. We use to love this place but the quality has gone way down hill. Kind of looks like they sold the place. Chicken wings no longer juicy. The galbi is so-so and the Tofu soup is very salty. Won't be coming back. Take a look at the potatoes served to us in the pic. It looks the same on all the tables around us too so it wasn't a one off.

Unfortunately the quality of the food has gone drastically downhill. I've gotten food to go a couple of times since my last review and the taste was atrocious. Hopefully it'll turn around soon.

Came in here with 30 minutes left before they closed and they still let us site with the caveat that the kitchen would close in about 5-10 minutes. We got our order in quickly and the staff was very nice even though we were there for another 15 minutes after closing to finish up. In terms of ambiance the restaurant was clean and bright but without much decor. What it did have was what we were craving - tofu soup! What we enjoyed:Mushroom tofu soupSeafood tofu with beefSeafood tofu Galbi (as part of a combo)fried chicken (so crisp and tasty but also came with fries which we weren't expecting)Banchan was good and the dishes also came with rich in the metal pots so you get that nice super crisp crunchy rice at the bottom and edgesMedium spicy was good and not too spicy, but you can vary the spice level of the soup to your preference.

I've been meaning to post a review of Jang Guem for a while. This is one of my go to spots for lunch during the work week and probably my most frequented restaurant in the Sugar Land area. This place always has a relaxed, affable atmosphere every time I go in. The staff is always polite, friendly, efficient and attentive but will give you space to order and will not interrupt or inconvenience you in any way.Fortunately, I've been able to try several different dishes here. Every visit always begins with a tray of Banchan, which they will refill if you finish the initial serving. Some of the items you can expect on the banchan tray are kimchi, sukju namul (seasoned bean sprouts), eomuk bokkeum (stir-fried fish cake), oi muchim (spicy cucumber salad), mu saengchae (spicy radish salad), gamja salad (Korean potato salad) and dried seaweed sheets. When I've eaten here with a group, they have refilled it several times. On the BBQ side of things I've had the Korean BBQ, Bulgolgi and Samkyupsal (pork belly). All three of these were very flavorful and the portion size was awesome for the price. You will not leave anything less than full and satisfied after eating any one of these. The spicy BBQ chicken is also very tasty and true to its namesake, spicy! Just like I like it. Don't sleep on the Yachaejeon (Vegetable pancake)! This thing is huge and a meal in itself. Golden, crispy, light and delicious! It's hard not to just keep eating this like potato chips. Excellent choice for anyone on a plant based diet. The star of the show here is the tofu soup. I have had several different kinds. My two favorite are the seafood tofu and beef curry tofu soup. Of those two, I'm saying it and sticking by this, the beef curry reigns supreme! Feel free to change my mind Jang Guem but as of today, that is my go to lunch every time! It's that good. Shoutout to my friend for recommending it to me. Either way the soup comes with rice and an egg. It's not complete until you crack the egg into the soup. Trust me! You can choose your level of spiciness. I go full spicy!!!If you haven't stumbled upon this hidden gem yet, what are you waiting for? Do not drive down Highway 6 again without stopping here. You will be glad you did and you will leave with a full belly!

We had their Korean fried chicken (medium) and it was massive!! Our waiter was awesome and strongly recommended the jang guem junkie sauce, and he was right when he said it's their best sauce and not too spicy. Hot, crunchy, sweet, spicy, what more can you ask for? The bulgogi fries were solid too. And between the chicken and the C1 Combination, we had plenty of leftovers between two people.

Overall very great! Restaurant is a decent size and spacious; we got seated right away. Servers were attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable. Sides were okay, not great because it did not taste fresh but they were very nice to refill it often for us. The entrees are very good though: I recommend getting the combo (meat + soup) so you get to try a bit of everything (and the soups are very hot and flavorful). Also a nice/unique thing is that most of their entrees come with corn cheese! Reasonably priced. Definitely a good place for korean food in the Sugar Land area!

This discovery happened in the best way. A friend and I were headed to The Teahouse, located a few stores down within the same store front. I was waiting for her outside of the Teahouse. When she came, I mentioned to her how good something smelled. She agreed and said, "LET'S FOLLOW IT!" We walked down to the restaurant and to no surprise, it was packed. The party before us decided to leave to we didnt wait long to be seated. It looked like a mom and pop reastrant: packed with seats, small walk through spaces, and a lot of movement. We got comfy and prepared to tackle the huge menu that offered generous opportunities to a land bursting with flavors! After realizing we were in over our heads with the name and identification of most of the items, we decided to play it safe and stick to the rivers and the lakes we're used to, haha. We got beef potstickers for the app. They give you a complimentary bento box like plate with small portions of snack/food. It was different but very delicious when they were put together. For our main dish, we ordered beef bulgogi. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. The food came to the table in a small boulder cauldron looking bowl. It was thick and heavy which kept a great amount of heat in the bowl and kept our food cooking and ready to eat. We dug in with chopsticks hungry and determined to show the other patron we could get down with the sticks. It was a struggle but we made it. Again, the food was very good. They give a great portion of food which we continued to enjoy the next day for lunch. I highly recommend ANY AND EVERYONE to give this establishment a try. On your journey through restaurant reviews, remember that they are subjective. Have an open mind and show grace. Til next time!
