Incredible food especially for the value. We visited Island Coconut Kitchen when they were visiting Chapel Hill. I got a medium jerk chicken ($12) and the portions were incredible. I also added a beef patty ($3) and two of those alone could have filled me up. When we went we waited about 40 minutes in line for food. There were only 2 people working, so please be patient. It will most certainly be worth it.

Do not sleep on the jerk pork plate from this truck. They will LOAD your container with so many pieces of blackened yet fall-apart tender pork that it'll be hard to open it without it exploding. They leave allllll the delicious fat on, as they should (but not enough places do) so the flavor is intense enough to stand up to the also naturally intense jerk seasoning. The mac and cheese side is great, and the rice and peas are surprisingly coconutty (I guess not hugely surprising given the name of the truck). 'More peas' would be my one nitpick, but it's a small one.

Don't think twice, just stop at this truck! Fast, delicious, comforting, and full of that feel-good flavor! The beef patties, jerk chicken, and curry chicken were all fabulous. The curry chicken was my favorite, and I loved the extra section of sauce for dipping my rice and cabbage. If you see the truck and you are not hungry, go on and stop anyway. Get yourself some beef patties for later. They travel and reheat like champs!Pro tip: If you grab food at the Guess Street location and want to chow down fast, Westover Park is a lovely nook with picnic table just a few minutes away.

I've been looking for somewhere that (consistently) has jerk pork since the moment I moved down here and finding this spot felt like a miracle. Their hours posted on Google, as well as on other sites, are unreliable and I was waiting for around 45 minutes for the truck to get there. I would've left if I hadn't traveled 20+ minutes from home just for SOMEWHERE that served jerk pork. After an irritating wait, and almost leaving, I finally got to order food.I ordered jerk pork, rice and peas, cabbage, and a spicy patty. The employees were nice, and fulfilled the order quickly. Personally I don't like cabbage much, but got it for my mother to try, and she said it was "just okay", which I doubt was true because she barely touched it (despite both of us not eating nearly all day). I do love the rice though, you could really taste the coconut in it, which is a huge plus for me. The jerk pork was alright. It was lukewarm, like they had heated it up just barely, and could've had a lot bolder flavor. I was disappointed in the pork, because it looked good and they gave a large portion of it, yet it was semi cold and tough. I don't think I would return here for anything except maybe a beef patty. They were pretty good. We didn't eat much of the plate and ended up throwing it out. I recently moved from NY and had a place up there I was willing to drive 20 minutes to because their food was THAT good. I wouldn't consider this place as worth the drive or wait. The food isn't bad or anything, it's just nothing special. Maybe if you live in the area and we're passing by I'd understand stopping here, but I wasted gas and $$ coming here.

If u ever had good Jamaican food don't come here. Rice and peas was bland cabbage taste like they came straight from the ground and the oxtails wasn't nothing to brag about. The only thing that I kind of enjoyed was the plaintains and they were way to greasy. Way over priced, almost 30 dollars for some bland food no!
