Houston's This Is It Soul Food

I went twice to be sure! My first visit was on an Easter Sunday & my second visit was on 2 Sundays later. It's a great after church service spot to me. I've never been a fan of cafeteria style food but I highly accept this restaurant. The 2 times I've been, everything looked clean and fresh. I remember during Easter that it was a long line but I constantly saw fresh pans of food being brought to the food line. I saw servers in hair nets and gloves which I wholeheartedly appreciated. They have meal specials throughout the week and events as well. I can admit that I didn't enjoy the food at their original/first location on the Southside. But this location has redeemed the business. You seat yourself, and the staff, like Ontario, speaks to you and makes sure everyone is good. You can tell the onboarding and training was on point. Both times I got their Mac & cheese, collard greens, yams and red koolaid. My first visit I did get the fried catfish and that was good and crispy. This time I wanted more sides so I opted for the 4 veggie plate and tried their tomato & okra. I never had it before and it looked good, but it was ok. I don't have to have it again. I probably should have tried it with their rice vs alone. Each plate comes with 1 meat, 2 sides, rice & cornbread. Both times I opted out of the rice. For a veggie plate you can choose 3 or 4 veggies. The mac is nice and cheesy. I get full off of that quickly. The collard greens seem like canned greens with no meat. Im ok with it thanks to the sweet cornbread but im looking to try the cabbage next time. The yams are delicious and I believe are homemade. It's a good meal for a good price and portion. They have plenty of meat options to choose from. It definitely gets the job done for me.

This establishment gets a three start tearing because of the friendly service they provide. I wanted to give it a four but too many people go off just the start rating and do not read the entire review. The food is a three star for me. It is true soul food and was good but nothing I absolutely must have again. I would return because of the friendly service and maybe the entertainment they have off and on. There was supposed to be a comedian or Karaoke when I was there but they had canceled it. The establishment is clean but lacks in warmth. Nothing about the inside says "come in, stay awhile, and enjoy." The logging is harsh and the food is ready to be served from a heat well. It all looks appetizing and is served hot. That was a major plus! Just not the experience I expect for $20 a head. Wish I had taken pictures of our food. Sorry.

Everything was amazing! First off the customer service was great. All of the staff members are so friendly. It feels like a family get together once you walk in. The food...the food....the food!! Every food item was some of the best soul food I've had in a long time. I had the fried catfish (seasoned perfectly) the sweet potatoes, and okra and tomatoes. I also had strawberry cake for dessert. I was told by friendly staff member Tiana that Thadd made the food and let me say his hands are blessed. I will be a regular at this humble location. See you again SOON!!

I have never been here. This was my first the experience that I received from the hospitality, to the food, to the conversation and the help in between meals and eating oh my Lord I am so grateful oh and the praise music, the cleanliness And the vibe overall I will never forget it. I just moved here from Boston a year ago and you best believe I'll be back, My Brother Ontario was by my side with me and my sister that I brought here throughout the whole meal, he just made sure we were good and gave us good conversation. I felt at home. I love my people.

This food is consistently excellent! It's my 5th time here... and I've had: the fried chicken, the oxtails, the fried fish, the smothered chicken and the beef short ribs! All are incredible! The rice and gravy is seasoned so well, and being from Louisiana... this tastes like home! Also, the portions are GENEROUS! Highly Recommend!

Tried this place for the first time after craving home soul food so I got the bbq ribs Mac and cheese and green beans and my boyfriend got fried catfish Mac and cheese with cabbage both our meals came with two corn bread muffins each. Sweet tea very sweet but I like it like that. Great staff great feel would recommend and will return.

Tierra made sure customers service wasn't an issue for my first time here. However, our only gripe would be that the cornbread was indeed a day old now growing up on soul food at home day old cornbread is just fine but when you go to an establishment where everything was good except the cornbread, you leave filling slightly unsatisfied because we all know cornbread helps make a good show.

The most delicious comfort homestyle food I've eaten in years! Huge portions one meal is enough for two people. Casual , cafeteria style : we had the smothered pork chops and meatloaf. It was very difficult to decide because you could see it all in front of you my friend and I were here for a concert at NRG and stayed at a nearby hotel , was easy to find. food served in Styrofoam containers; probably because they know you can't finish it all and will want leftoversNote: we ate at the location in Houston near the stadium, not in humble

Food and service were excellent. Recommend if you are the area to stop by, Tiara was awesome.

I am from out of town and went to the Humble location! The food was great! You will not be disappointed! i will definitely be back!
